Pokerguy12 218 Posted March 8, 2014 I would like the option for some kind of easy to cook food like stew that requires meat, vegetables and water. That or the option for different cooking methods: boiling, roasting, frying. Each method requires different crafting ingredients and eash time the product is a different food with different stats. Gekkonidae 270 Posted March 8, 2014 I'd like to be able to cook simple things like Water + RiceCereal + Water + Powdered MilkMeat + Fire And more complex food that would restore you hunger/health faster like: Meat + Potato + Rice + WaterOnion + Potato + Letuce + Berries And that kind of stuff Actually, keeping it relatively simply like this is probably a good idea. I like your examples.

dayy 173 Posted March 13, 2014 We should be able to cook basic stuff, and combine food from cans... I.E Add canned beans and spaghetti in a pot, cook it to create...wait for it.... spaghetti with beans in it!!!
Kestrol 7 Posted March 13, 2014 There should be more game in the game ;) I want to kill a cute bunny and eat it. Stews are the obvious creatable meal Dayz is lacking. There is also rice but nothing to use with it. If there was flour, we could make various pies either with meats or apples!
BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted March 13, 2014 In a survival situation there is no way in hell you would be making pies, bacon, pasta or any other elaborate dishes. You would have a pot and/or pan and a fire, every ingredient would need to go in those. So it would basically be stews, soups, porridges, fried meats and flat breads (no yeast or ovens making regular bread very difficult to make). All fancy dishes are exactly the result of the civilisation that is no more after a zombie apocalypse. So while it may be diificult to accept for some, DayZ should not and hopefully will never become a culinary simulator.
gannon46 788 Posted March 13, 2014 a lot of the recipes are already there for a few things. powdered milk plus water bottle equals milk+cereal+bowl= bowl of cereal which would give you plenty of hydration and energy. if they add bread of some sort we could have tuna sandwiches, I hope they add a swiss army knife atleast then we can have some utensils I know its the apocalypse but eating with your hands my toon has more class than that pish posh LOL
gannon46 788 Posted March 13, 2014 hahahaha I seen the Gordon ramsay book and I imagined him cooking for survivors in dayz cussing and fuming about the ingredients they bring hahahaha tuna is that all you could fucking find is tuna. hahah then they handcuff him and feed him disinfectant with a nice side of alcohol tincture to wash it all down. All fancy dishes are exactly the result of the civilisation that is no more after a zombie apocalypse. So while it may be diificult to accept for some, DayZ should not and hopefully will never become a culinary simulator. I would like to add to this. When you're in harsh conditions where survival is an important aspect, you want to cook simple food, but you still want to cook it. The latter is because warm food requires less energy from the body because our bodies use energy to warm up things we consume and that goes both for food and water, and even air is warmed up. Fancy dishes with many ingredients are a product of comfort, and is not what you do in such a situation. You wake up in the morning, boil some water and either drink that or make tea or coffee or some similar warm drink, then use some of the water for making porridge or if you're short on water something else. For example just warming a can of beans before eating it makes a huge difference. Especially if you're in cold environments. Warming the body from the inside out is wonderful and a really good "pick me up". Edited March 13, 2014 by Strawman
