Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted March 7, 2014 Deep thoughts, I'm pondering the ways of the universe. How can something rotten be pristine? Is that the best state of rotten? It's almost like a double negative, a ruined rotten apple must be in great shape then?
sYs 133 Posted March 7, 2014 I been wondering the same over and over. I guess - if you wan't to get sick - better do it with pristine rotten fruit.

herrjon 478 Posted March 7, 2014 It's rotten but has been kept in pristine condition. Conversely, you can take a fresh apple and smash it to pieces. It's ruined, but still fresh.

V4ReVolution 3 Posted March 7, 2014 It has no scars, worm holes, pits or any other blemishes. It has however been left to go from ripe, to fresh and eventually to degrade and rot.
Demoth 366 Posted March 7, 2014 And THAT's why I am concerned when I see a "worn" banana....A worn banana has been places and seen things that give it character. As long as you don't eat the peel, and you wash your hands, you should be good to go.

DemonGroover 8836 Posted March 7, 2014 Hmmm...i think you may be onto something...pristine means unspoilt...and rotten seems to contradict this. I believe DayZ may soon open a pardaox that will engulf not only the World but the Universe.

Etherimp 1323 Posted March 7, 2014 Pretty simple... A badly damaged "fresh" fruit is something that's been damaged, but is still fresh.. A rotten fruit that's pristine is a fruit that has been left out too long, but it's not been damaged. I don't see why that's so confusing.

I believe that the dark magic of Hoxton could be at play here, unleashing this infectious paradoxical gateway into the land of Chernarus. What should we do!? LaughingJack (DayZ) 767 Posted March 7, 2014 This had to be done now, sry: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright i'll be constructive: I guess there are 2 indicators. One, that every Object has - the "Damaged" factor from pristine to ruined. And one, that only consumables can have: fresh or rotten. I guess when the items are created through the loottable every item gets a random status ranging from badly damged to pristine - also fruits. Additionally fruits have (i think it's also somehow randomized) chance to be either rotten or fresh, so they get the secon indicator set as well. Since the status of objects just started to affect them (ruined items can not be used anymore), such things are just in because they all share the same main object type, which has to has the damaged indicator... i think that the Damage-indicator is a somethinf that will be set to invisible for the fruits sooner or later...or maybe used as an additional value to estimate how nourishing a fruit is...^^
