I would like this topic to be deleted as it is clear that people are too lazy to bothered reading my thread and it has turned into another KOS thread which was not my intent. My thread was suppose to be about IDEAS fm KOS threads and not KOS itself. It thank those who were not sheep and tried to be constructive.

KILLING ON SIGHT IS NOT A PROBLEM. IT IS A CHOICE MADE BY PLAYERS IN A GAME. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SHOT UPON BEING SEEN, DON'T BE SEEN.

/caps

The majority of people who complain are those who get picked off blatantly running through an airfield or city. Would you do so in real life? Nope, you'd be sneaky. It's general laziness that gets people killed on sight.

I don't think you read my post, and if you did, you did not get it. The main idea of my thread is that looking at ideas in KOS threads, would be a good thing as not only does it promote community discussion but it may lead to good features being implemented.

KOS is a minor problem at the moment, mainly because of the lack of things in the Alpha of course because it is Alpha, but it is a problem, even if a minor one.

Primarily, this game is about survival. Sometimes, to survive, other survivors must die. The bambis are no threat down on the coast... give 'em a chance, I say. Later, when they're geared is a different story. Depends on what they choose to do with their bad selves. I personally have not yet killed anyone (I have about a month in-game) but I can see the logic of needing to do so.

In DayZ morality becomes a gray area. Don't rant at KOSers (they make Chenarus interesting to say the least) and don't rant at people who'll choose to remain non-KOSers. The world of DayZ is situational.

I don't think you read my post. You're suggesting that KOS is a problem when it isn't.

I did, in fact, read your posts. I read all of the posts I reply to. No feature that is going to be implemented will change my playstyle. If I am ever penalized for playing like this, then I'll move on. The real issue is people using the forums to whine about every little complaint they have about the game. Address that first.

The thing is...KoS doesn't need fixed.

It happens because Day Z is a sandbox in which you and anyone else may play how they please. Even if, for some reason, they want to deter a playstyle by adding or taking away some elements there will still be people who KoS regardless.

The point is it's not going to change or get fixed or tweaked because, as stated, the world is your oyster so to speak.

The bounty system doesn't really make much sense to me. How will the game know you're just KOS'ing? What would keep people in big clans from using the system to grief people?

I do apologise if I mistakes your posts meaning, but it is my opinion that KOS is a minor problem in the game. As I stated while it may annoy me, I get it will always be there and don't mind it. I don't want this to turn into another KOS thread where someone complains about it and then a torrent of people follow either totally agreeing or disagreeing, we don't need more of those.

The idea if my thread is to highlight that good ideas can come from threads about KOS and that people pay attention to those threads, it is not suppose to be a KOS rant/complaining thread.

I do apologise if I am wrong, but the idea of my thread was not to talk about KOS and if it is a problem, but the ideas that can be generated from threads about the subject and that some are actually pretty good. I am sorry if my post confused you or if I mistake the reason for your posts.

Okay, can you give some examples of potential good ideas that can/have come from trying to brainstorm ways to deter killing on sight? It's really hard for these threads to not turn into a flame war, as people are very opinionated on both ends of the spectrum.

imagine a world in which KOS was 'fixed' and very few did it. There would be little incentive to play stealthy at all, or to scout out towns, or to watch your back, and there would be no fear when going to high pop areas of suddenly being shot at. Now imagine how boring a game that would be...

Hello Everyone,

Now I think what I am talking about in this thread is fairly obviously stated by the title, if not what I will be talking about is simply that those who complain about KOS are not as bad as they may seem to some.

Now don't get me wrong, I fully understand that KOS will always be a part of this game. It may be annoying, and seemingly pointless is your a fresh spawn, but none the less it will happen anyway. But at the same time, at the moment anyway you at least have to admit for the moment KOS is a a problem to a degree.

Why is it a problem? We'll simply because the game is in Alpha, and once geared many out of boredom just go around killing, which is understandable. In the future as more is added it is likely the KOS numbers will go down. But for the moment it is a problem. Now you may ask, why is it not a problem for people to complain about it? Because many good ideas come from such threads.

Many KoS threads are rants and of no real use to anyone and I believe such threads should continue to be ignored. But some threads actually come with ideas to help deal with the problem. I have seen ideas for new social interaction features, bounty hunting and other such threads which present ideas which could be used in the future.

While not all ideas will be fantastic, it is a good thing for people to discuss ideas and not simply rant about a part of the game which annoys them for what ever reason. So I ask next time you see a KOS thread give it a look. If it is a rant just move on, but if it has a reasonable idea, give it look even if you disagree with the idea.

Thanks for reading!

*EDIT*It is clear to me that the people who posted seem to have simply jumped on the words "KOS" and "complain" and just didn't bother reading my post at all. Please read before you comment, we don't need another KOS discussions thread, there are enough already. My post is about ideas from KOS threads not KOS itself, though you can discuss any part of my threat be aware of what it's point is. *EDIT*

So why did you make one?

SWINGS AND ROUNDABOUTS.

Do you play GTA V Online?

That is a sandbox game with a bounty system and a lot more flexibility than Day Z SA.

Does that stop people KOS on that no. Do people complain about it on GTA V? No.

Yes the game is less serious but you play Day Z SA for realism, the adrenaline when you're about to loose all your gear and to be serious.

People shouldn't complain about a fundamental of the game which is not a problem.

One idea I saw discussed which I think would be a good idea is a sort if bounty hunter system. It would not be just for those who KOS but accessible for everyone. The basic idea is that you can put a bounty on a player in the server your on using items you have. People can choose to accept to try and complete the bounty or not. While not the best idea in the world, it could be a neat thing for the game or a mod in the future.

Another idea, which is more though out is blood on clothes. Basically if you kill and animal, or person or find a body and go up to search it, you get blood on you. It would apply to everyone not just those who KOS and would give players warning that maybe the person is dangerous and best be avoided. While it would not affect KOS that much it would be cool and a fairly realistic feature to implement.

Both ideas are not mine, but I could not find their threads.

So what if I change my shirt? Is that blood forever etched into my skin only to seep through every shirt I ever wear from now until the end of DayZ?

Yes, as I remember if you changed, went deep enough in water or used another method to remove the blood, it would no longer be a problem for you. So if you went hunting and go some blood on your vest it could be washed off in the sets or at a pump for example. While this may seem to lessen its effectiveness, it would still work if the person didn't bother removing the blood or wore it is a badge it would still be a warning sign about the person.

What my post was about is that THREADS about KOS can provide ideas which could be implemented it eh future. At no point was this suppose to be a discussion about KOS, but sadly people don't seek to want to read or just ignore my posts point.

The only suggestion I would agree with would be for every person I kill, my forked tail grows another 6" longer. After 50 kills without provocation, I want some horns. I'd wear those proudly.

I've replied to all of your posts in the manner in which I believe you are trying to present them. I get what you're saying, trust me. I just don't necessarily think that 1) people are going to respond well to these types of thread at this time, as there's currently such an influx of KOS-related threads on these forums, and 2) the idea behind the topic is going to provide any type of improvement to the game in its current state.

Suggestions that are garnered by analyzing the kill on sight mentality are only going to be used to diminish/eliminate kill on sight behavior, no? If we ended up ridding the community of people who kill on sight (myself included), we'd easily lose 60% of it. On top of that, where would the fun be? Murdering poorly implemented zombies? Forming large bands of like-minded individuals to... pick berries? There'd be nothing to do.

I thank you for actually listening to my idea and responding, even if you don't think it is a good one. I can also see the point you make when you say ideas from those affected by KOS will be bias. While this can be true the blood spatter idea is an example where the bias is at a very minimal level. It is not made to punish KOS but as a feature for all players to be affected by, and even if you dislike the idea, it would fit into the realism aspect of the game.

From posting this thread I can see your point when you say people will not respond well to this type of thread. I was hoping for a decent discussion, but what I have seems to be people who jump on one part of a thread and not all of it, which is sad. I did not mean to create another KOS complaining thread is seems through the actions of others I, and my opinion on the subject I did.

I have no problem with KOS, even though it is a minor problem at the moment as it is simply used as a way to be entertained and not a genuine survival choice. I will never seek to ban KOS or restrict it in anyway, unless it is killing the game, which It is not and I doubt it ever will. While I see it as annoying and a problem until more feature are added, I understand it is part of the game. I hope to have another discussion with you soon. Thank you for responding to my posts.
