Letting a player live at an AF

Recommended Posts

So I was looting an AF and was upstairs, I could hear someone snackin' on some sardines out in the cutout area, so I pulled out my 45 and moved to behind the stairs so I had a clear line on him coming up.  Sure enough after he was done snackin' he came up the stairs with my 45 pointed right at him.  He saw me and turned around and went back down the stairs (that was a good move on his part).  After I was done looting what I wanted, I told him that the building was free for him to loot if he wanted and that I wouldn't shoot him.  Never saw him again, he ran over to the control tower and I guess was looting it.

If I was a dipshit....I would have shoot him while he was coming up the stairs and sent him to the coast...it was his lucky night that it was me upstairs and not a different type of player!

Hint to any players that spawn at AF's or bases

1. Don't sit there and eat right away after you spawned. You might as well turn your flashlight on and wave it around....saying "Here I am....Here I am!"

Stand off situations, and situations like this are more intense than just ''shoot to kill without questions''

I myself had similar scene like this. There were 2 of us in the AF, and 2 guys spawned behind us, we got freaked out with shooting at them cause they were fully geared, we did not want to risk it, they went into the room behind the stairs while we stayed in the corridor.Lots of screaming and shouting. ''Don't shoot, don't shoot we are friendly'' ''don't come out of the room or we will kill you'' ''PUT THE GUN DOWN!!!'' ''Don't come out of the room until we are far gone from the AF'' stuff like that.It was alot more intense than just boom boom, dead.I just did not know how this will playout, will they coopirate with us? or will everything go to sh!t?

If only I was a nice person like you, unfortunately, I'm not.

I would've let a player live too, at the AF today. But I didn't

I decided after I finish looting the 2 hangars at the end, I will move to the military base to see if loot spawns have been added. Then I rethink my decision thinking that I could get ambushed from behind, so I will loot the ATC tower and the prison, 8 hangars, and fire station. Smart decision. I run back, and I see a player approaching. I instantly go inside one of the hangars, and peek out in 3rd person to see whats he doing. He took out his gun, aiming, looking for me. His first mistake, not responding to me saying friendly and just running towards me. So I use my chance , go out and shoot a couple of shots on him while hes running, he shoots two or three as well, all missed. So I peek out again , to see wheres hes running off to.... Guess what? He combat logged. Poor bastard didn't know your character stays in game for another 20-30 seconds. Didn't take almost anything from his body except some 7.62 rounds.

NE Airfield. Late afternoon. The birds have settled down, I imagine crickets krik-krik-krikking. My belly is satisfied, my thirst quenched, I'm energized and healthy. It's a good day in Chenarus to go hiking. And, as always, it's a good day to die. In the month I've been in Chenarus, I died many times--in many ways. Some sad, some funny, and a couple times by glitches. I have not killed a human being yet. I wanna be the Savior of the Wasteland. At the moment, there is exactly one other player on my server. I wonder where and wish him/her well.

This is my fourth solo loot of the airfield. I have something like 130 rounds for my M4, full canteen, food, a pistol, a Magnum, a morphine injector, etc... in fact I'm as well-geared as I have ever been. That can't last long. My survivor's greed kicks in like a monkey on my back. It claws at my ears and yells at me: Get a compass, Fool! You need a scope, you idiot! And I agree. So, there I am heading down the stairs from the ACT and I round the corner a bit sloppily on account I seem to be on my ownsome and, Lo and Behold!, there's a survivor about to head upstairs. This one seems to have nothing but a motorcycle helmet and a splitting axe. We pause and look at each other in shock. This was before I had a mic so I type "friendly" and the other person raises a hand in greeting. I try to do the same but instead of F1 I hit 1 (my quickslot for my axe). Oops. Stranger backs away and I can imagine the horror and confusion as they think they've met a disingenuous killer. I type "oops" and he/she types "lol" but I can tell they're on alert. I type: I'm outta here. The place is yours. I run past them and he/she backs off to the wall. I leave and run back to my outpost to the north of the airfield.

Later, I think Man, you coulda offered then some food or your spare FNX pistol. I was so used to running solo that the idea of teaming up didn't even occur to me.

Remorse kicks in and I commit suicide (not).

1. The sounds are retarded and need fixing. People don't cheew that fucking loud lol!

2. General rule of the airbase is kos. Everyone shoots but I've had instances where I've met people looting there and we've banded together. What you don't want to happen is that you're nice and for that, you end up at the coast.

Is there a way to tell how many days you've lived for on ur current life or when I load it up tonight is it going to be staring me in the face?

^^ @ Sauron (I mean, Jexter). Not at the moment. My current guy's been kicking it for about two weeks.

After traveling around a lot (and paying the price with my life), I've mostly stayed near The NE Airfield because a RL pal joined the game about 9 days ago and I want to help him while he loots. Cover the door(s), etc. It's stressful because he's slow and pokey... takes him about 10 minutes to check the loot per building. I can't seem to light a fire under his ass. LOL. It took him about three days of play (maybe 10 hours) to live long enough to find the airfield. He has a lousy sense of direction. The first time he made it to Berezino and somehow ended up back at the ship on the coast.

He's asked me to stay put but he's hardly played in the last four days. I've made solo forays into the airfield about 5 times now and am so ready to move on. I think he needs to go solo and get real about his casual play style; I'm not doing him any favors by continuing to protect him. On another thread, I made similar comments about theradbrad and the Noble Brothers and here I am doing the same thing.

For me the decision to KoS or not on an AF depends on whether you're armed or not.

Against an armed stranger in such a high-risk area I take no chances.

Why would shooting him make you a dipshit? I personally feel you're a dipshit for letting him live.

Good on yah OP. I have had multiple friendly encounters now at NEAF.

Takes a bigger man to scout them out and let them know YOU could have shot them already but your not as long as they leave/wait. =)

Edit: However, if I knew they were server hopping, I would shoot them no questions asked.

I just wanted to let you know, that i saw 2 people at balota AF at different times and let them alive, even though i had the possibility to kill them and take their stuff without any-1 noticing it.

Can i have some beans for it?

I concur. If it would have been in Staroye, or someplace equally off the beaten track... maybe. But at any military base? You are a dumbass for letting him go, regardless of the moral high ground you are trying to put yourself on. Who's to say he didn't have a crew with him? Who's to say he wasn't running to find cover and an ambush spot?

And why do I have the sneaking suspicion that had this encounter NOT gone the way you described, and you got shot in the face, your OP would have been a tirade filled with tears against KOSers?

Two guys once saved my life at NWAF, not everyone who goes there is interested in a fight. You're a good guy OP.

Last night, running East towards Balota I approach the Airfield and see a fellow survivor looting the barracks.  I stay outside the fence, and run to the APC broken through the fence.  I had just come from a bad encounter with 8 or so zombies and was low on blood (screen very black and white and starting to get fuzzy).  Anyways.. knowing I am not long for the world if I can't get some supplies, I take the chance.  I call out on chat "Hello fellow survivor on the AF, I am very low on supplies and require food.  I will be crossing to the ATC Tower to locate some food and drink.  I will come out unarmed, I mean you no harm."  I waited about 30-45 seconds for a response, and got none.  No options left, I stand up, walk to the edge of the runway, scan left, scan right.  No one in sight.  Run to the ATC center and go inside.  Locate some food and drink and get myself taken care of.  I then peek out the window and see the guy bolt across to the hangers.  I again call out "I am just finishing some food, I will be leaving the ATC Tower and heading north out of the airfield.  I will keep all weapons on my back."  I walk out, leave the AF and not a shot was fired, no conflict.  Nice to see that common sense can still rear its head and 2 strangers can be within 50 feet of each other and not feel the need to shank each other :)

I was in an airfield tower yesterday, and a guy with a gun was upstairs... I only had a fireaxe. I put my axe away and asked if I could come up to look around.

he said sure, he never shot me.

I looked around, never saw what I needed and left. :)

People can be friendly.

Hey....I completely understand...if I lived in a cesspool I'd think that the actions of a person who doesn't shoot players just because they're at a AF area....would be trying to reach a moral high ground too.  It usually appears that way for those who have to look up in life, so yes....I completely understand where you're coming from....well, maybe not completely but I can at least imagine your view point.  ;)

So you are implying I am a piece of cesspool-living shit because you want to act all high and mighty since you didn't KoS some fool at an airfield while I think you are patting yourself on the back for getting lucky and not getting shot yourself. Does that about sum it up?

Just to be clear.

I was at North West airfield, there was a guy in a hanger. Another person and I approached, he only saw me. I had my mosin. I told him to put his weapon away because I was friendly but I didn't trust him. He decided to act cocky claiming that he "had an M4 while only had a mosin, If I tried something I'd be dead". So, the other player I was with peeked around the corner, and as he looked away and starting spraying with the M4 I knocked him unconscious with the Mosin.

I proceeded to unload his M4 and his pistol, revive him and let him on his way. He logged out instantly after I gave him his weapons back.
