Jex 1104 Posted March 3, 2014 Why are the town names in Cryllic yet the map names are in Roman - did every map maker in Chernarus decide to fuck with us before a zombie apocalypse or were the devs that dimm? I was hoping they would fix this come the SA but it seems they didn't.
So Sexy 259 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) This was discussed a few days ago, and its such an insignificant issue imo, since only a fool would use the in game map. Edited March 3, 2014 by So Sexy

I was hoping they would fix this come the SA but it seems they didn't. If we had a russian company making this game they would be in cyrillic. Didn't you realize that most english speakers want to be spoon fed when the game becomes a tiny bit difficult? Ok i have to admit so are a couple of german players i know because they don't want to play a game in english because a: they don't know english or b: they don't want to because it's a pain in the ass. Hell i even asked my colleagues at work to teach me how you pronounce the words or what means what and learned it with my teammates to be able to know where i am on the map. Matej (DayZ) 71 Posted March 3, 2014 Because population of South Zagoria ( province of Chernarus - in game area ) are russians , but majority of Chernarus are chernarussians ( czech) and they use roman letters.

rickyriot 1009 Posted March 3, 2014 Isn't the map in game a tourist map? Thus "allowing" the names to be in Latin characters. Of course that doesn't explain why the cover is in Cyrillic.
mosibfu 71 Posted March 3, 2014 the people that brought the m4's also took some maps with them, since they were foreign and did not know the area.
eleventhavenue 204 Posted March 3, 2014 The map may be based on the Czech republic (because, you know, the developers are czech, convenience) but Chernarussia really isn't czech. I think the spoken language in the campaign was based on Czech, but they obviously use cyrillic letters, because, you know, there are cyrillic letters there. I believe it's already been agreed it's Russian rather than Czech, by people who speak both Russian and Czech. If you can be bothered doing a search of the forum you'll find the thread in which it was discussed.

St. Jimmy 1631 Posted March 3, 2014 I've been wondering the same. The map needs to be cryllic. Would be easier for everyone because the signs are in cryllic.

Leo Balzac 190 Posted March 3, 2014 Cryllic isn't a language. You need to have a few less drinks before playing if you're reading maps in Cryllic :P
