Server login timer is F***ed.

Now that I have time to write this the timer is retared and does more bad then good. I login to a random lowpop server and get kicked... oh 280 second timer! This happens all the time. Oh dayz crashed AGAIN + 300 second wait timer? 

 

Dean step down if this was your idea or fire the tool who thought this dumb shit up. I can't stress enough how restarted this is. Server owner dies, oh shuts the server down 300 second wait timer.

Sounds like a server hopper is particularly angry about having to wait five minutes between loot whoring. So sad.

I don't think that someone testing out an anti server hopping idea in ALPHA warrants Dean firing anyone, either.

ehhhrm...if u stay like 10 minutes u don't got a timer left and please don't tell us your game crash every time or u get kicked on every server

They're going to look at changing it to make sure that it will only cause a timer if you log in to a different server. If you log back in on the same one you should be fine.

in all the time this has been implemented, I have had to wait once... for 4 minutes. When I relogged 2 mins after joining a laggy/desyncing server. Very small price to pay to stop ghosting & serverhopping.

Not everyone who joins the low-pop server is there for loot, maybe he want to meet up with friends safely that are 10km away.

They should implement better algorithm that can distinguish crash/kick from actual hooping.

There are many servers that kick people even if they are not saying that clearly in the server name.

I gotta say, I was a little irritated with this too. If I have a glitch that can only be fixed by re-logging, then I would re-log onto the same server and I would get a timer.

 

You don't even know bro. I got so pissed off that I pooped myself a little.

 

But, I just whip out Flappy Birds and flap my way to happiness while waiting. (High score is 202 btw. Hope ur jealous.)

My game crashes a lot for no reason, and i get the timer for it. I think it should be there to prevent server hopping but in my case its just annoying.

As frequently as the servers desync on me, a suspension of the timer on disconnections (not exits) might be a good idea. Generally if I get booted for a connection loss. I just call it a night rather than wait four or five minutes.

I was also verry ennoyed by the timer when I had the "Please wait" black screen bug.

Its not that big of a problem, You get the timer when you change servers too often, but yes...sometimes I get kicked from a server like 2 seconds after I join it, giving me 300seconds wait time.You should not get timer when you are kicked.

Log out w8 1min and you will not have any "Ban" and stay on server atleast 5min

I can't stress enough how restarted this is.

 

Awesome typo :)

 

Trying to be helpful:

 

- Getting kicked with no reason: Report server (see my signature...)

 

- Server shutdown/game crashes/glitch that forces to shut down: Annoying, but happens. I also had this happen to me (Server restarted, followed by 3 (!) CTDs...Do something else for the wait-time. A game of haerthstone, get a fresh coffee, polish your monitor, clean up your desk, write a sms to a friend...whatever. It's not SO bad to wait for some minutes ;)

 

- The logout timer should be even harder. 10 minutes timer, that accumulates for every time you get one, only reset after one hour on  a server.

It works horrible tbh. Yes it stops server hopping but is really annoying to be kicked randomly since its a "private testing server" aka "looting server for admins". It also don't stop combat logging which is the most annoying thing really.

Well it doesn't stop combat logging, because it wouldn't be possible to stop it as there are too many ways to instant close the game

That's why when you leave your character stays on the game for 30 seconds so of you combat log people can still kill you

Which means combat logging won't have an effect most of the time

PLEASE report them every time you see them. I have a template for these emails, and everytime I see something like this I send it. I think vilayer knows my emailaddress very well by now - and at least 3 servers were taken down because of this.

 

Server rules:

Unacceptable usage of DayZ Servers (Also known as the “Don’t” list) 

You may not change the following variables on your server :

  • Password 
  • Player count beyond 40, and below 30. 
  • Message of the day to include slander, racism, sexism, or any general hate speak. 
  • Signature Verification (Must always be enabled) 
  • Server name must not contain any terms or phrases of the themes below:

          - Player Versus Environment only 

          - Player will be kicked 

          - Server somehow has modified loot spawns, or other game data 

          - Server is private 

          - Server is “not operating properly” 

          - Hatespeak / Defamation of any person, place, or company 

 

You may not perform the following actions on your server :

  • Restart server to farm loot 
  • Restart server to protect your character integrity after dying 
  • Kick players without just cause 
  • Lock / Password the server

Or they could set up a series of cases to run checks and see whether the user left voluntarily, whether the server restarted or there was a connection lost.

 

It's quite irritating joining a server and it restarts almost as soon as I join, thus having to wait 5 minutes.

yep, nope, if you are getting kicked from a server cos it's some loot whore admin, report it, see if their M4 will keep them happy after they lose their server with NO REFUND. If your too lazy to do that I really don't see how you have the right to complain.  Anytime you add addition steps you add more weak points, what your proposing I can easily see being turned into a server hopping/ghosting exploit/script/hack not only that it put's additional strain on the server's.

 

Do you wanna know how to never get the timer?

Make a favorite's list, play those server's only.

I've always found that server's that acknowledge the host or are hosted by the host as promotion are the one's without abusive admins shoddy connections, stable fun still KoS tho lolz

Up the timer I say! If you can't wait 10 minutes to re join another server then go find another game to play. Server hopping ruins the game for everyone by injecting more goods into the "economy". Once we get storage devices this is going to be noticeable which is why duping needs to be fixed. Make the server hop a 10 minute wait to begin with and then add 5 minutes for each to a max of 30.

Then it's your God given duty to use half of those 300 seconds to report the server.

 

If you can't be bothered to report it, you aren't allowed to complain about it.

At what point exactly did I say it was a loot whore admin? There are scheduled restarts also you know, it there is a 50% chance that I, or anybody else, will join a server when there is less than 5 minutes to restart without our knowledge.
