DayzForumer 284 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) It's like buying a game, and then the devs say "you cannot kill anything, or we will remove the game from your steam account." If you buy a game, you have all the means to create a server accustomed to your likings if you wish to do so, unless you agree to some agreement. I don't believe hosting a DayZ server makes you agree to an agreement, and if it does so, please right me. Thanks BoneBoys, I was unsure if it was worthy of General Discussions. Disgraced 1123 Posted March 1, 2014 You have to agree to the rules to connect to the hive.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) It's their game, they can put whatever restrictions on it they like PvE servers kind of ruin the point of the game. it allows people to explore the map and items without the danger of getting killed by another survivor; in my eyes, that is cheating Edited March 1, 2014 by Death Dealer

wartzilla 182 Posted March 1, 2014 Get out. Servers are all connected to the central hive. If people enforce different rule sets on certain servers it pollutes the hive.
antonioajc 500 Posted March 1, 2014 Get out. Servers are all connected to the central hive. If people enforce different rule sets on certain servers it pollutes the hive.It pollute the hive AND they risk the chance of losing their server if they start kicking people for that one rule they put in. If they do kick a person for enforcing the No PvP then the server would be shut down and the host would lose its money he/she put to bring up the server. soulfirez 901 Posted March 1, 2014 Once there are private hives then you can make a pve server if you wish as it wont connect to the central hive but that wont be for some time most likely when the game is complete.. PS you dont actually buy a game you buy a license to use the software and as such are restricted by the owner in this case BIS to conform to all there regulations ( does no body read the agreements anymore...

If you buy a game, you have all the means to create a server accustomed to your likings if you wish to do so, unless you agree to some agreement. You do agree to it by buying the game and you do when logging in. Furthermore will the game not be removed from your steam account if your server doesn't follow the rules. I don't believe hosting a DayZ server makes you agree to an agreement, and if it does so, please right me. Of course it does. You have a contract with a provider. What do you think this is? Some guy giving you a server if you eventually give him something in return? Serverhosts are companies and you sign that contract by renting their servers. You should go ahead and read those contracts and the legal bit first. It really doesn't feel like you have had any interactions with companies and contracts so far. Everything you do is bound to an agreement and it will be bound to that even if you don't sign anything. Even oral agreements are legal agreements. Sickerthansars 53 Posted March 1, 2014 Why would you even buy dayz if you wanted to pve.....
Sutinen 635 Posted March 1, 2014 PvE servers are misleading anyway. You will get killed on those servers for sure.
MrTesla 14 Posted March 1, 2014 Why would you even bother trying to create a PvE-only server in the first place? There isn't even any way to enforce it at all, so it's completely pointless. The only ways you could know someone is player killing is first-hand (getting killed) or through word of mouth (if you have a TS or something since there's no side chat). Even then there's no way to know who the killer is unless they used handcuffs or something. And even if you did the worst you can do is kick them. Then they can just come back with a different name. Plus even if you could it'd be really boring. Not just because zombies are no threat, but because one of the exciting parts of interacting with other players is that you don't know if they're gonna turn on you. airfell 179 Posted March 1, 2014 Empty servers are great for PvE. Problem solved.

oregonized 673 Posted March 3, 2014 I would love to have a PVE server for role-playing purposes and building sweet bases with people. It would also give the zombies a purpose because right now they are nothing more than an annoyance until you find your first axe or gun and can kill them in one hit. Once private servers are available I am sure there will be a few PVE servers with thriving communities.

Honestly, I think PVE/RP servers would be just as popular as the PVP servers.
