noob, newbe, pro, veteran

Recommended Posts

please ..you kids give your self away with confusing a "noob" with a "newbe", a "pro" with a "veteran"... can't you fucking get these simple things right even? what is wrong with you!! a noob is an idiot unwilling to learn anything about a game, any game! a seasoned player is not a "pro" he/she is a "veteran" for the love of god! only fucking noobs think there are "pro" players! please, veterans, help me out here!

noob comes from "newb", = newbie = new to the game.

so noob is not some-1, who is an idiot, etc. (normally).

But doing it "the noob way around" is doing it in a simple way, which works most of the time.

(So when it works often and good, is it really bad? ;) )

IMO, the word "noob" is way over-used, and as a result, it's not a real insult anymore.

actually ..we, the old generation think of noobs as idiots. a noob is not the same as newbe ..and we, the old generation, we are the once who created the epitomes. you, the young once, seem to have no clue what so ever o0

perhaps to you, but no. a newbe thred. kids here need to learn what is what and to stop confusing noob with newbe. noob is a derogatory epitome while newbe is not ..never mind what the kids or less educated people here think... simple as that!

I don't care.

I literally don't. I have a feeling this is a joke thread, but if it's not, then I can't even believe... I just... what? Why do you even care? "Noob" is just some stupid word that originated on the internet (as someone else said, it stemmed from "newbie") and is not even insulting in the slightest. Not once have I heard "noob" and even remotely gave a fuck.

Also, who cares about the pro or veteran thing either? All they would be trying to say is "I'm good at this game." No need to get worked up about it lol.

tldr; jus chill brah. take anothr hit from da blunt damn lmao

You are right, what delinquents we are for not thoroughly integrating the latest slang into our lexicons! /Sarcasm

Get a grip, duckling. And while your at it, jump down off of your self-righteous little soap box. You will find no self vindication here. Especially not with this nonsense.

I really never understood this....i always though a noob/newb/newbie was just that...someone that is new to the particular game and doesn't know/understand everything about said game yet.....so how is this an insult....everyone is a noob at some point and if you ever want to play a new game your gonna be a noob again....never really got how being new to a game and being called a noob because of it was an insult....honestly i always hated the word noob because i think it sounds stupid.....really really really hate the word pwned....i assume this word was created when someone missed the "o" key and misspelled owned.....both words make people sounds stupid in my opinion...but pwned is simply ridiculous..

80's/90's kid here, I know where the terms originated I was one of the original users of said terms, you know back when AIM was IM and MSN wasn't even around, When you got your files from efnet IRC and not from kazaa or torrents. when Napster was where it was at for high quality MP3's.

Noob/Nub - Complete moron that thinks they are a know-it all but actually just suck at the game

Newb/Newbie - New Player to a game that actually has no clue but would like to learn to play better

Veteran - Experienced Player at a game ( could still be a noob/nub based on skill / knowledge / attitude)

Pro - New term for a Veteran gamer that makes a living (is paid) from playing games (IE: Youtube/Contests/Tournaments)

OP is half right about no pro PLAYERS, back in our days pro was only talk as no one made a living off video games except for the paid beta testers which has long past and now WE PAY to beta. but now also people play games to make money from which in turn make them regional/national/global champions at that game which makes them in turn Pro (Professionals) not that they are the best just they do it as a profession more or less.

Veteran's almost always heard

Wait.. are we playing one-upmanship here? I see your napster and MP3's and raise you cup modems, 96 baud, commodore 64's and BBS. A time before the Internet, MP3's even before 1337 existed.

You see that, I've raised the bar, now I await the COBOL 74 boys to arrive and put me in my place. ;)

Well the C64 wasn't my first system, that was a ZX81. I mentioned the 64 as it was the first machine I had a modem for. If I was to list the number of computers I have owned it would just sound like s pissing contest and that's sort of what I was joking about in my reply. :)
