Recommended Posts

Join a group.

just a heads up, we tried some time ago to go to a friendly server, just to see what it was about, and I must tell I never saw as much violence al'together until Experimental 100 slots servers were up a while ago.

So yeah :) I like Friendly servers

So, back to the start...

If the game goes in the direction of, less ammo, less guns, way more zombies (i want to see a camp of 10 people get attacked by 1000+ zombies that have come out of a city), less players in the server (i think it should only be 25-30 maximum). More about survival and being like the walking dead scenario. We might have a really good game to look forwards to and id say, for once a next generation one in the survival horror genre. Otherwise, we have yet another fps gun toting same old same old game with some zombies thrown in where the biggest threat isnt the zombies, its the best geared guys hunting people for the fun of it. Fingers crossed for the future i say.

This man understands what a survival sim is about.  Hit me up to play if and when this game is ever in a reliable working state.  Cheers and beans sir.

There are friendly servers, just no servers with out hoppers. as the admins hands are tied it is a long painstaking process to prove a player is abusing the game.

Admin rule #10 (last line) You are not permitted to ban for suspected cheats or exploits, you need solid evidence, IE logs.

Server hoppers do not feel they are breaking any rules.

Admin rule #12 You are permitted to kick or ban for cheating/hacking/exploiting that is affecting players in a server-disruptive way, providing you have solid evidence.

Server hopping is an exploit that does affect players in a server-disruptive way as your question clearly points out, your game play experience on said servers is pretty much ruined and no fun to play.

Sorry I left the best part out, I was on a thread where the person who opened it to complain of admin abuse openly admits to server hopping to strip one server of its loot to take it back to the server he is playing on because he likes the challenge of being at a disadvantage?

Here is his quote. I highlighted it in yellow in the Edit, edit edit section

http://forums.dayzga...administration/

"There are, however, ways of combating hackers without breaking the rules Shut the server down IMMEDIATELY - This will most likely end up in a Hive rollback and any users who died will most likely get their gear back. THIS IS NOT FOOLPROOF. IT DOES NOT WORK ALL THE TIME."

Anyone else notice this happening? There have been several times that I've killed the only person in an empty server and the server shuts down right after he dies. I've also attacked geared groups of people and had the server shut down on me before I get to loot them. I realize that it could be a coincidence sometimes, but I kill more players than the average survivor, and I've experienced this many times.

Edit: This is confirmed, which should be no surprise because the link posted explicitly describes the ability of admins to shut down servers, which prompts character roll backs.

Edit, edit: Stumbling upon the only other player in a server is a fairly common occurrence if you are logging into high traffic areas. People seem to be getting hung up by this.

Edit, edit edit: This happens to me frequently, because I am always going after the biggest fish. I'm always searching for the biggest, baddest, group and trying to kill them. I like to prevail through disadvantage. It's how I prefer to play. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm not, but I've taken out the admin enough times to experience server resets quite a few times. I probably experience this a bit more often than most, because of my play style. The admin is usually accompanying the biggest group in a server. Players would be surprised how often admins are rolling back their deaths, even on high populated servers, especially if their death was embarrassing, i.e., him and his geared group just got axe murdered. It goes right under many player's noses, because it only negatively impacts the person that actually killed the admin; everyone else just gets a free roll back.

Do NOT contribute to any argument in this thread pertaining to whether or not admins are capable of rolling back the hive. Please acknowledge the facts before posting. It is a redundant argument, and a waste of all of our time. This "argument" was put to rest with the very first sentence I posted. Read it for Christ's sake.

I'm server hopping when I run into the only other players on servers. It happens all the time. Once I'm geared I go on a rampage on high populated servers. Rinse and repeat on death. I'm not claiming to be some master PvPer you childish fool. Use your brain before you post. I'm posting this for your benefit.

Apparently who ever made admin rule Number 12. You are permitted to kick or ban for cheating/hacking/exploiting that is affecting players in a server-disruptive way, providing you have solid evidence. Does not care these types of players use the server hopping exploit to strip a server of its loot thus ruining (a server for anyone else’s game play)

I really like how he “prevails through disadvantage” by server hopping Once he is geared he goes on a rampage on high populated servers. Rinses and repeats on death. This is defiantly the baddess cat in the ally.

I take this back as your rules are newer than the ones I was given and you dont have be such a dick about it I wasnt making anything up ass hole.

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules-updated-3009/

This is more like it.

You may perform the following actions on your server :

  • Restart server
  • Kick abusive players (harassment, cheating, exploiting bugs)

           - Be aware that this can tread a fine line, and if you are found to be violating this rule your server may be disabled until the issue can be addressed.

  • Turn the server off

You obviously learned nothing from my grammar lessons. What are you trying to say? Spell it with your own words. Don't let me speak for you. I am a notorious, blood sucking, server hopper. What of it?

I gotta say, I was pretty baffled when I was leisurely reading the new threads on the board and came across a 2000 word quote of myself from a completely unrelated thread.

You gotta move on man. No one even knows what you are talking about, which I could have helped you with, but you ignored my lessons. Your loss.

Thanks for that, ill be sure to look you up in the future. Me and my lass just stick to the mostly empty servers at the moment and run from place to place. We are really hoping it does go down the avenue of a real survival game against zombies. Its just very strongly at the moment a very PvP game of "survival of the best equipped" and the ones willing to team up and hide in the trees shooting with a sniper rifle at anything that moves military style. Praying for somthing different here we really are. Long ago i completely lost interest with FPS's, L4D 1 + 2 are the only ones ive played since the first came out. Because it was somthing different really. Take out the story lines of other games, they just blur into one and the same shootemup, or shoot and loot regurgitated over and over again. Fingers crossed for dayz. All the best, from the UK.

You're the guy bringing me up in a completely unrelated thread. Its fucking weird. You're fucking weird.

Im not the only one who cant understand what you mean. What argument are you even trying to make by quoting that massive wall of text which is completely out of context here.. Its because you are incapable of making sense. You are hopping my writing is somehow going to express your own idea because you have the writing capacity of a grade schooler and you cant express it yourself.

If you honestly think that even a billion zombies would be more dangerous than any other random player on a server, then you have seriously underestimated just how dangerous people actually are.

As long as even a single gun with a single bullet inside it exists, within this game, I will personally find it and I WILL use it to kill another player.

EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Deal with it.

You know who is going to have the legitimately hard time playing with billions of zombies?

You.

All of you carebears, that's who...

Why will carebears have a harder time with zeds than you with your one bullet?? your going to have to go through all those zeds ( i dont think we will end up getting that many hope i am wrong.)

I dont like KOS but i am no carebear  you guys are my favorite sport i love stalking people and when i see them gun someone down i get to pull the trigger myself (snipers are pretty easy to find look for the spot id snipe from circle behind it and wow there you are.)

There alot more of you than me but hey 1 by 1 i come to ruin your day ...

Doesnt work though as they usually then server hop to get loot again on a empty server.. bring on private hives..

I'm not sitting in wait inside the town.

I come from wherever to overlook the town.

The carebear coming into town... now has to pay THAT MUCH MORE attention to the crazy zombie hordes (that already respawn on experimental).

More attention on Zeds, less attention on surroundings = one metallic object traveling at 3000 ft/s coming straight for your nostrils.

Me, I'm hundreds of meters away. I will ditch the Zeds before they even reach half the distance to me.

Edit for clarify: Ditch --> manage in whatever means available. Whether that is melee, or just plain outrunning, or hiding... they wont keep glitching through the walls very much longer btw...

PS: I applaud and encourage players to seek out KoS players like me. It really does get boring when a group of 3+ takes off running and combat logging like babies the moment they hear that gunshot ring out

(of course they only find out a few minutes later that they are now minus one member...)

Bring me some excitement!
