I've never been able to get the FPS or performance monitor to show up in game with MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision.  FRAPS works great, but nothing else does for me.

For me MSI Afterburner and for monitoring CPU/GPU usage and load I will use an app called Open Hardware Monitor. Afterburner can do the latter to an extent but not to a granular level.

In terms of Fraps I have found a small FPS drop even when it's not recording (and a huge one when it is).
