How would you like to see loot respawning done?

How would you like to see loot spawning in the future?

Most of us don't like the server restarts, because the main areas get looted within twenty minutes of server restarts. So what would you like to see as an alternative? Options to the poll will be added if deemed good enough. If you pick 3+ hours, state how long you would make it.

Personally, I'd like to see a loot spot respawn an item after two hours, and only if someone is not within 500 meters. So let's say I pick up a can of beans, but nothing else from the building. Every other item stays, except after two hours, in which the missing can of beans is replaced by a random item. The 500 meters bit prevents cyclical loot spawning in towns like Elektro or Berezino that are constantly populated. If the two hours have passed, and someone is within the range, it won't spawn. As soon as the 500 meter radius is completely devoid of people, an item will spawn.

As usual, it is likely exploitable. Then again, nearly every option is exploitable.

Loot should not have a set time for which it respawns, for then people would camp a server say every hour to get dem goodies. Loot should spawn throughout the server uptime.

Something that has to do with X amount of hours uptime + RNG spawn table. Loot refreshing should not be in the hand of admins (like restarting server ect)

I like two hours. It's a short enough time to do a full walk around the map without running into the same stuff, while also being long enough to discourage camping one area and to create some tension and disperse players on fuller servers.

I would make none of the loot respawn if there is no loot at your location then venture north go in land and stop camping the coast.

I think loot one way to do it would be to respawn once a certain percentage of the loot has been picked up.

I'd like for their to be a certain loot allotment on the map, so only roughly so many beans or weapons can exist at any given time with a system in place to make sure they are distributed fairly evenly around the map, the server then tries to be as close to this loot allotment as possible at all times. a loot spawn cannot spawn new loot for a certain amount of time after it has been looted (something like an hour or so) and when an item is looted an equivalent item is then spawned somewhere else on the map if there are open and compatible spawns available (it will prioritize open spawns in the less loot populated areas if it can). and if any pooling occurs (say everything gets pushed in-land and the coast is barren, with open spawns everywhere but no items to spawn there) the server will be allowed to go over the loot allotment to make sure their is at least some loot in those areas (but mostly poor items and nowhere near as much as there would be if people went out to find the loot that got pushed in-land). I think something like this would make sure areas stay fairly populated but keep the current feeling of "good stuff can spawn there but it might be too heavily looted", and when you see an empty spot it's not just a case of "guess it's on cooldown" but rather "guess there's loot elsewhere".

at least that's what I'm thinking I would like to see, I'm sure there are better systems out there.

I'd prefer a system like in the mod were loot would respawn instantly when nobody is in range.

Since we have a general maximum of loot per server it semms okay that way.

Just my opinion.

You're missing the option "hive issued respawn that follows a highly randomized algorithm".

The problem with the 500m Exclusion zone is that on High-Population servers, loot will never respawn on the coast or at the hotspots. Since it's exactly these servers which have trouble with the current model, this solves nothing...

If you want to survive you better move, the message is quite clear to me.

What i really want is them to find a way to end with server owners looting abuse.

Hmmm i am looking around for what i was sure rocket had said on the subject and that it would be an economy based respawn ...

Eg eat a can of food and that removes it from the servers economy and another will spawn randomly across the map to replace it  ruin a weapon by killing someone and ruining there gun removes it from the economy thus another will replace it etc..

This way they can have an exact control of both server and hive economy levels to allow them to balance it to be hard but fair....

It would be nice if loot respawning could be completely randomised.

I dunno, if it were completely randomized it would remove the nuances and complications of real life looting situations.

obviously it can't be one hundred percent realistic as we have to play on the same map over and over so things need to respawn, but it would be nice if the game captured the sense of economy, if a place gets hit by looters a lot then no matter how good the stuff that you could find there is there won't be much of it, the game should reflect that to a degree.

That's why the radius suggestion would work; highly populated towns won't have loot because there's always going to be people in it.
