FPS in Cities

Recommended Posts

Also the current experimental has runs a lot better, not sure how stable runs but it was terrible and experimental has a large improvement.

I got very good FPS but it still lags sometimes even with a SSD in cities. It can not be personal hardware related, its something server side or w/e.

Methinks it's time that thou overclocketh thine elite processor, my Lord.

So you are playing Experimental right now? Does it really add a lot of improvement FPS wise compared to the current stable build?

GPU usage on my GTX 760 drops from 99% to ~50% when I go in to a city that causes a substantial performance hit, and FPS drops to 18-24. I wish I could say that CPU limitation was the problem but at both 3.3GHz and 4GHz my i5 2500k usage never goes over ~70%, mostly on core 0 but never utilising 100% of any core.

why should i do that? Every game I play is +60fps on highest settings. Except for Arma 3, 2 and DayZ

Blablabla

Your member text thing should definitely say "KOOOOORL" instead of "CAAARL".

scenecomplexity @ 150000

This makes the game look horrendous though. I use 500,000 at the minimum because that's the 'normal' setting in-game.

With a rig like yours, 20-30 frames per second in the city is pretty low. After I overclocked mine, I went from that ballpark to 35+ and my rig is three years old. I was just trying to be helpful, kind sir. :3

I see absolutely no difference from overclocking my i7 2.67 to 4.0

So, I've just reset it in order to keep it cool.

Overclocking my i5 made zero difference too, I will try clocking it higher but I'm not optimistic.

It's a simple fact that the game doesn't even fully utilise the CPU according to my monitoring, it doesn't fully utilise a single core never mind the whole thing. The issue in cities is most likely something to do with the GPU usage plummeting to around 50% when it's up to 99% elsewhere.

Edit: This is not my video, I found it in the bug tracker. It demonstrates the problem perfectly on a system that's up there with the best money can buy.

Electro is the only city I have fps in.  Everywhere else I'm usually running about 40+ fps.  Textures = Very High.  Quality = Very High except Clouds and shadows which are on High.  Rendering = AA - Normal, Alpha to Coverage - All Trees + Grass.  Edge Smoothing - FXAA Very High.  HDR - Low.  Ambient Occlusion - Enable.  Post Process -  High.

Specs in sig

Running an HD6950, 1090T & 16GB DDR3 rig and I never ever get any noticeable framerate drops.

I run the game on max everything, except post processing (which I disable completely).

Running a similar system with an overclocked 955BE and r9 270.

I have absolutely no doubt you're full of sh*t. Spreading bullsh*t like this is only going to create confusion and slow down the optimization process. Kindly knock it the hell off.

Indeed.

Myself also running a BE 955 & HD6970 on 16GB 1600 mem - all overclocked and watercooled - and i STILL only get around 20-28 fps in and around large cities (Electro, Cherno, Svetlo)

That's a lot better than I get around and in big cities, what settings are you using? I'm at 2560x1440 but all my settings are on mostly normal (except texture settings, which I have on high) and I get between 18 and 25 fps in places like those. :( I'm also not using any edits in my config files apart from the ones for GPU render ahead.
