Put M4A1 in backpack

Recommended Posts

As the title says, you should be able to put a gun in a backpack if buttstock removed, this far only the M4A1 has got a removable buttstock.

Only if the devs decide to cut the M4 into two peaces, so you can separate the upper and lower receiver. If you want to store a medium sized rifle in your backpack you gotta be able to take it apart. In all my modesty, I think that's a pretty great idea.

Indeed it's a great idea and should be supported in game.

Good thinking, perhaps in the future this function could support more

weapons rather than the M4 alone.

The sawn of shotgun already fits into the backpack. Tbh, having a M4 in the backpack would only help ripping off players that don't expect you to have a gun with you. As is with the shotgun atm. <_<

which is why we should only be able to put it there in pieces, with an animation to suggest you're putting it together if you try to draw it on someone holding you up!

Yes.

It must take some time to draw a weapon out of the backpack.

but an SKS, M4, Blaser or Shotgun in backpack + "insta" ready isn't fair.

Having a handgun/sawn offshotty in the jacket, pants, holster or vest is Okay, i think.

When tents are introduced, you canot just horde weapons anymore, it's going to take a while. I approve of being able to carry a weapon in your bp.

You still have the recoil tube making it only maybe 5cm shorter when you remove the stock. This would only make it easier to fit it in a pack...IRL.

Should also take between 30 second's and minute to make the actually usable again. I guess this would make life good for interacting with newb's having a rifle is a good was to get jumped, could be abused particularly as weapon spawns get more and more rare. allowing a single person to carry up to 3 rifles, maybe more if they dump their bag out, aka instant bandits.  One person server hop's and the other two fetch other supplies, they meet up and 3 instantly armed and geared players. actually I feel this is a bad idea, what the heck do you need 3 rifle's for?

You people keep asking of ways to hoard more crap instead of adapting and trying to play as smart as possible. It seems to me (I'm the guy who doesn't give an actual crap about which way this game goes) that you can't make up your minds about how this game should be played. On some threads (those asking for silly simple things like spawning with a survival knife or having PvE only servers) you scream about how this game should be played only the hardcore way or gtfo. But on threads like this one you ask to able to hoard as much as you can in order to feel better armed, better equipped, etc., which to me screams sissy all over the place. I've seen guys (not me, I play light but I stay away of highly populated areas) playing with nothing on them and surviving really long time periods and getting away unscathed from firefights.

Removing the buttstock on an M4 doesn't make it any shorter than fully collapsing the stock due to the length of the stock tube/receiver extension.

Popping the receiver pins and splitting the upper and lower receiver assemblies would make it very backpack friendly, but as Window Licker has pointed out, this should take 30 seconds for anyone who isn't a former line grunt to do.

to carry a second weapon is a pretty nice idea, but i dont want the same like in dayz mod, put in your backpack and fine... to easy! Better you need to find some materials and craft a weaponcarrier or weaponbelt for a second weapon, that would be interesting!

I get the point that is being made that it would be realistic to be able to pack your M4 away, but you have to consider that one of the best parts about this game is being restricted in what you can carry.  Even though you can carry TONS of stuff unrealistically (i.e. - multiple ammo cans), I like the idea of leveling the playing field with only one primary weapon; two, if someone wants to carry it in-hand.  Everyone in the server having an M4 wouldn't be very appealing to me.

Just my opinion.

I agree.

How many actual steps are involved in splitting an M4?

If it is more than 3 I could see just having to right click the M4 and each step is an option given to you one by one each time you right click on it.

Something like this, but the right steps...I just made these up on assumptions to demonstrate my idea:)

1st Right click...remove screw

2nd Right click...pull pin

3rd Right click...spit weapon

4th Right click...separate parts

I feel doing each step manually fits the dayz mechanics, like transferring items from one backpack to another.

having a transfer all, isn't as realistic as putting each item in the new bag one by one like you would IRL.

Same principle would apply to the gun splitting.

If you could take it right apart then yeah it would be cool. Otherwise no.

I keep a sawn-off in my pack as a holdout, which I feel is reasonable. If someone tries to rob me and makes the mistake of turning away even for a second after I've put down my primary, they're getting an ass full of buckshot. A fully functioning M4 would be a little much imo. Mary Poppins backpack.

I would like to have a sidearm on my leg holster for quick draw and a rifle/shotgun on my back for more serious firefights. That's all. I can even live without the sidearm, it forces me to be smart and plan my movements. Do I take out the zombie with my ax not to make any noise? What if there's someone around the corner waiting with a rifle? Do I risk using the rifle for the zombie a give away my position? I don't know, you decide how do you want to play this game. I can adapt or stop playing it.

Hopefully we will be able to fold tge stock on the Ak-74M. Hopefully we will also get an AKS.

Also, shouldn't we be able to saw almost all guns off? Sawed off Mosins (Known as Oberez) are common in countries where handguns are illegal, Sawn-off SKSs are also known to exist, and i can see a Ruger (But these would have to be longer, due to gas chambers and magazines) and a sawed-off Blazer, with its high rate of fire would be buass.
