Apocrypha8 54 Posted February 20, 2014 I just ran there from Balota; it seems its the lesser known and lesser populated base in Chernarus. I think I plan on going to Zelenogorsk, then to either Vybor and look for some PvP or NWAF. Any thoughts on Pavlovo? I think it's way more rewarding than Balota, providing you can make it there. Just because there is a hospital and everything is so close to each other.
klesh 2423 Posted February 20, 2014 Its a nice spot to be sure, but your chances of running into a server hopper are pretty high. Same goes for the base near Vybor/NWAF. Keep on your guard or have a friend post sentry duty while you loot if you can.
HunterJay 81 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Balota & NWAF are basically empty 90% of the time. Edit: Of players. Edited February 20, 2014 by HunterJay

The other names were user and owner, so i figure this dude mustve been an admin or someone was hacking. Because I was in the second room, just about to play inventory tetris with a hunter backpack lying on the bed. I heard rushing and someTHING ran past in the hallway. Didn't even see me. Scared me shitless, like I jumped IRL. I was just starting to play tetris, i wouldve been toast.I did it fast, then just called it quits for a few minutes lol.

Most player traffic is starting to head more towards Berezino, NEAF, Svetlojarsk, etc. Most spawns are far east. It takes some serious dedication to make it even to Balota. Let alone Pavlovo. It's either dedicate one direction and usually die, or run straight north for most people.

Apocrypha8 54 Posted February 20, 2014 Exactly! Heading north is an extremely lonely path....I've been playing mostly solo, so especially for me. It's higher risk vs reward, in real life. I'm spending my time in a damn video game to make it so far and dedicate myself, just to get killed by a hacker or some KoS newb. Not that it's really a huge deal, just an example. Most players don't have the patience to even make it to Balota, like I said.
Irish. 4886 Posted February 20, 2014 I have to add in my 2 cents here.. after playing the mod for so long I got used to it taking a minimum of 20 mins to make it to the NWAF from most spawns. In the SA, with the sprint working so well.. I feel like the map is smaller. I cant believe how quickly I can make it from NEAF to NWAF now. And from NWAF to Balota.. it still surprises me. Aside from that, I plan on making my way to that very base tonight. Its one of the few "new" places I havent seen yet. When you are solo, the best bet is the North.. less players, more loot. Yes, there is a severe risk of server hoppers at the high risk locations but that you just have to accept

Let's hope they change that. It's okay for now since there's not much to do but gear up and look for other players, but once more content gets into the game I really hope they do something to curb the infinite sprinting. I get what your saying, but when it takes me about 10-15 mins to run to a location and not full out run for your life sprint but the normal sprint I feel like that is normal. I mean I can run 3 miles no problem in that time. Winded yes.. but that's it. I hope that they have minor penalties like the shaking you have now if you run for long periods and try to scope in or the plan of having resources drain faster when running long distances. But I dont like the idea of "curbing" sprinting..

But I dont like the idea of "curbing" sprinting.. Well, they would have to have complexities to the feature. Like adrenaline. If you're running for your life, you're gonna be hopped up for however long. Just like your body never utilizes all of its muscle fibers when working out/flexing. It's just too much. It would be more like, your character gets scared as shit fight or flight reflex when he gets shot at, and you can just Usain Bolt it for about 20+meters and then have the shakes like crazy. But for flat out sprinting, I can't sprint irl for that long at all. When I run, its more of a run/walk intervals thing. So, idk what the devs will do.

But I dont like the idea of "curbing" sprinting.. I have no problem with the jog speed that's currently in the game at the moment. That's not what I'm getting at. I think that should be the regular speed with not too much in the way of penalties for jogging long distances (I think it should be a drain on your energy/hydration levels). People jog for days at a time in real life, from city to city. There's that Tom Hanks movie based on a true story about that guy who ran for like 7 years or something. All day every day. Only slept at nights. But he didn't sprint that entire distance. :pI am talking about getting shot at the NEAF and then running at full sprint from west of Cherno all the way back as a fresh spawn with no food or water without any penalty. That's insanity.
Mullraugh 1151 Posted February 20, 2014 Balota & NWAF are basically empty 90% of the time. Edit: Of players. That's only true because they made the spawns all at the east of the map for some stupid reason. It's extremely hard to make it past Elektrozavodsk unscathed. attackm0de 38 Posted February 20, 2014 I love the Vybor and Military Base near it. I frequent there most other days and have had some awesome situations unfold there!
Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted February 20, 2014 Not many go to that base for several reasons: 1. They can gear up in other more close by areas. 2. The layout there is not really friendly to control unless you have 3 double teams, and even so you might get jumped easy. Also, albeit the base perimeter being so close to the damn roads, many folks go through the collection of building in the crossroads without paying attention or even caring. Saw a few singles and doubles yesterday on experimental branch hardcore, 45/50 server... not a single one went our way while our scavengers checked the place. But when the Stable branch is updated you bet every single square mile with loot will be scavenged. You see... no more duping... guns get rare, ammo even more after a while. Loving it. kitthegreat 43 Posted February 20, 2014 There is a great loot run you can do from Svetlojarsk (It's just where my squad tends to log out, but adapt to your needs). SvetlojarskNE AirfieldKrasnostavFollow the road south to Dubrovka then follow the power lines west to Novy Sobor.Hit Novy and StaryCross the field into Veresnik Military baseHead south to Green MountainInto ZelenogorskSouth again to Kamenka/Pavlovo Military base. Then head back North to NWAF if your feeling brave or hit Balota and into Cherno to go loose all your gear ;) Takes about 90 mins to do the run but you can gear up a 4 man squad with ease. Tatanko 5591 Posted February 20, 2014 guns get rare, ammo even more after a while. Loving it.Me too! I haven't been playing the game for all that long (a few weeks now on and off), but one thing I'm happy about is that they're making guns a more scarce resource. As it is, I find way too many pistols around and ammo is relatively plentiful if you know where to look. Once they start curbing military-grade weapons and weapons in general, people will be more conservative about how they use their ammo and hopefully PvP encounters will require more strategy rather than he-who-shoots-first-wins.
