Compass Lid Closing

Recommended Posts

Any point in closing the lid, does it help it survive the apocalypse any better? :P Like seriously...

I havent tested this extensively, but i will throw it out there.

First compass i ever found, was in Worn condition.

No problems!

An hour or two later, after having taken zero damage of any kind, the compass was badly damaged.

Nothing else in my inventory had any degredation, except for the compass.

So now, ive just made it another part of my insane character's ocd things that he does...

"Cant leave it open again, those goddamn feds will hack it again!"

I believe intent ( not sure if its working or not) is that it makes it more damage resistant with lid closed.. Kinda makes sense hmm a brass case would be stronger than a glass screen ??? so yeah its to help it survive the apoc you answered your own question..

well done you B)

Keeping it open should make it more susceptible to damage and when a compass becomes ruined the glass should shatter (not just smudge) and destroy the bezel ring.

It should take up 2 slots when open and 1 when closed. (At least, if they ever decide to add more squares per current inventory square)

Mine went from worn to ruined with one hit from a zombie while stashed in my pack. Not sure if that's supposed to happen or not.

My new one is Pristine and hasn't degraded at all even though I use it constantly and I don't think I've ever closed the lid.

Never had a problem with my compasses and degrading.

When a compass is 'Damaged' or 'Badly Damaged' I'd like it to get an air bubble inside which will throw the needle off - possibly a little, possibly dramatically so (dependent on how much air gets into the liquid). Then if you were navigating using a compass you may end up off course.

Because you can do it IRL, that's why ;)

It boggles my mind that this bothered you enough to make a post.

It doesn't close if you don't make it.

I didn't even know that it closed for the first month of me playing.

How does it closing effect you negatively?

A little known fact about Zombies for you: They're all Luddites! They hate all technology with a passion. You should see what they do to iPods and iPhones. It's not pretty!

Even the ruined Compass will work. It will be harder to see whats north on it, but it will still work.

Must be fixed eventually.

You you should be able to tilt it closer to your vision with right click perhaps because its still a bit of in my opinion.

Naw, just tilt the graphic a small number of degrees our way. Or make the character hunch a little bit more (camera tilt).

But even as is, it's not too bad.

Yeah yeah! Sit down realism junkies!

Realism has to take a backseat to practicality in games, so get over yourself.
