So, I was playing on a Hardcore server beacuse I felt like doing some "RP Survivin'", you know, doing what my character would do, not go running butt naked around elektro and getting mad because I got KOS'd... But anyway, since there was no 3rd Person and Hardcore is kind of harder, I thought more mature players would be playing.
 
And hell, I was wrong.
 
My story starts at Kamyshovo, the least favorite city after Kamenka! Anyway, I started looting the place, got some pretty basic shit, a crowbar, I ate every bit of Food I got and made my character pretty healthy.
But then for some reason things wouldn't go on my Inventory and I was afraid the server would restart, so I joined another Hardcore Server and went looting again because since NO ONE plays on Hardcore, there was plenty of loot. So I start running towards Elektro, but instead of taking the road, I walked in the forest till I got to the city, I knew I wouldn't find a soul there, but you never know!

I run down the Sniper Hill to loot houses, I got a fireman's axe, a Mosin with ammo, a backpack... Man, I was geared up!

 

Well, now that I had a powerful axe and a weapon, I could just kill everyone that tries to kill me! So instead of taking the stealthy way, I started walking a bit more in the road, I got to the Firestation... Nothing. The only place I needed to loot was the other Firestation, so I run there.

 

While I was looting I hear footsteps behind me. It was a FULL END GEAR Player with a M4, camo... well... everything.

 

I had my gun lowered, so even If I wanted to kill him, I couldn't in time... But he started going ape shit with his M4 for no reason and kills me. That guy must've been off his fucking face because he shot a whole magazine into my body.

 

While I was just staring at my screen, trying to process the stupidity of that player, I reaslised something... If I went to the forums and started yelling "KOS IS BAD FUCK YOU ALL", people would throw shit at me... And if I continued to play like that, I would just get more angry and stop playing at all and say "fuck you" to the community/devs.

 

So I got an idea! I won't play anymore!

 

"what do you mean like forever whaaaaat?"

 

No. I decided I'll only play when the game goes to at least Beta Stage... and MAYBE (really MAYBE) when they add cars and shit. So if you have the same problem as me, try doing that, try playing the Mod if you have it or just do something else while they fix the game. But if you don't want to wait but instead yell shit about the game everytime you die... well we can't be friends.

 

"But why waiting will be a good thing?"

Look, the main reason people KOS is because they are dicks bored, on DayZ ALPHA, all you can do is Spawn in, get loot, go north (for whatever reason) and... well... that's it. And doing PVP is really what's left, but when we go on Full Release, we'll have Cars, Cooking, Making basic bases. Of course there might still be a lot of dicks KOSing, but I think not as many as today.

i read all of it and i think the people who ONLY kos dont see the many exciting possibilities this game offers:

- making territorial claims and defending a territory as a group by talking to trespassers giving them warnings that u will kill them next time the come along.
- recruiting players to join a group (as scouts / medics / looters / food&water suppliers etc... so many roles)
- gauging intent of other players
- establish trade with other groups (friendly or neutral standing)
- taking hostages (exchanging hostages with unfriendly groups)
- protecting VIPs (declared leaders of groups, important roles like medics, etc)
- make shooting contests (zombies or no life targets or traitors :D )

so much... to do... but all they can "think" of is kosing :D

i read all of it and i think the people who ONLY kos dont see the many exciting possibilities this game offers:

I agree with you, but things like taking hostages is kind of buggy at the moment, so when they add more features to do all of this.

Your response to "I'm geared up now" being "Now I don't have to be careful" was your undoing.  By not taking precautions to avoid being killed, you ended up dead.  Never let your guard down, especially in high-value looting areas.

 

Additionally, were I in the other players shoes, if I'd made the decision to drop you, a mag dump makes sense.  It is at this point the only way to be sure.  Not interested in your gear, and every other player represents a potential threat.  I've only killed 1 for sure in this game, and I'm reasonably assured it was justified, but he took 15 rounds of .45 to make certain that I was not the one dead and that he'd not be coming back.

 

This is an excellent lesson to others, don't drop your guard, always maintain your security, despite how safe you may feel.  With server hopping abound, you never are.

Now I like this approach instead of some of the idiots demanding a refund on the forums without any proper reasons.

 

Something like this happened to me the other day. I was close to the ship wreck just off the northern shore of Berezino. I noticed that there was some weird swaying animation happening to my character as I sprinted. So the investigator in me opened up the video settings and tried testing out to see what was going on. So I adjusted some dials and turned some notches and just as I was about to see if I had fixed it I pressed the auto-adjust button right next to the close button.

 

Fucksakes...

 

As the screen blackens out to it's adjusting state, I heard gun shots wizz and fly past me and some thud's.. So I quickly pressed escape and by the time I got to see the damage done - It was too late

 

Now I don't tend to rage that much over petty things, normally i'd be like "Yeah alright, you got me ahaha" or "Nice shot! Jesus that was good!" or even "Man, my fault I was trying to be cocky and I paid the price, GG"

But no, this was bullshit - The guy whoever he was saw a fresh spawn stood still in the open with no harmful intentions and decided just to murder them for fun. - No offer of "F4 or we shoot" they just shot me from a good distance and moved on...

 

Bandits are essencial to this game! Free will is one of this games best perks! You can gear up and murder people in the south or even help them! For fuck sakes you can go out into the woods and read books for your DayZ lifetime and think "I'm so fucking intelligent look at those barbarians murdering helpless people" 'Scoff'. DayZ is what you make of it and this happens to be the internet so let's be honest. There will be cunts in DayZ

As lame as it might sound. What did you expect happening in elektro? Grilling marshmellows on campfire and singing songs? I mean you know... Last time i was in elektro i saw guy like you (preferring to your gears) at firestation. He said "friendly". I was like "okay" "i wont shoot you" and went outside with my fully geared char. Next thing this guy starts shooting me from firehouse tower. So why would i leave someone alive? So they can kill me? But your right about that theres not very much other to do atm except pvp. Anyhow ive been surviving last few weeks alive with my current char. Just playing it carefully and sneaking around. Been trough map few times been everyplace got few kills got shot few times but still alive. However this sneaking around starts to get boring so i might go rambo somewhere and prolly will lose my stuff there :blush:

 

Anyways if you dont like it dont play it thats simple.. Like you said yourself...
