My gear is starting to haunt my game.

Recommended Posts

It's time I made whining thread. I'm angry but not drunk yet.

Now, you know know that I ported DayZ Chernarus+ to Arma 3, and start looking around the game files, I revealed 1 or 2 vehicles and posted them on a thread.

But, you know what? It's actually having gear that made me leave DayZ.

I've played for 125 hours, I've had it ALL. I've even traveled to castles and interesting spots on the map just to see them. But NOW there's really nothing to do. I've fully geared up with a group, without groups. Fully geared on both Regular and Hardcore. Look at this. Look.

I roamed around NWAF for an HOUR or TWO in FULL servers expecting some action, or for someone to kill me, or take my gear.

What NOW? THE HELL DO I DO WITH ALL OF THAT? There is no one.

You know, this game is fun. But there's a point when it's all the same once you've geared up. But shit's really weird these days. Why is there no one in NWAF?

Because people can gear up fairly easily on the coast if they want, NWAF is a pretty far trek for some and a lot of people don't bother.

I've killed maybe 3 people there the entire time I played.

Shit needs an incentive like in the mod. The best gear could be found there. You can find the best gear on the coast.

Change your way of playing, for example start to play as a character who does not carry any military gear. Or stop to play and wait until some big stuff are there.

I guess I'll keep trying to reveal stuff in the game files like vehicles and new stuff.  :D

There is nobody at NWAF because by the time you get there you have 90% of the stuff you need, and then you get the rest and don't need to go there again. There's no ultra rare stuff that only spawns in NWAF.

If you want action, try either NEAF or Balota. The hill just north of the Balota hangars, next to that little town, usually has a sniper or two in it.

I know what you mean. I've only played 80 hours or so of the standalone but I've definitely run into this issue. I think it just stems from the fact that its a game where the content and narrative etc is all player driven, if there's no real player organisation or ability to do bigger things than just troll around looking for gear and dodging zombies solo or in small groups then that narrative and content can be a bit shallow.

This is especially exaggerated by the lack of tents which are significant in that they allow the players to create a 'permanent' presence in the world and set down roots. If everyone is forced into the role of psychotic nomad with everything on their back and constantly wandering from place to place shooting people it's not surprising that people feel like they've 'run out of things to do'. Once people can start placing tents and repairing vehicles (always good to have things to do which encourage a bit of cooperation) then I expect it will get better.

That and adding more zombies, the almost extinct chernarussian zombies are less an environmental threat than an endangered species in need of conservation. ;)

In reference to the changes in player behaviour (i.e some locations are weirdly deserted and others are oddly populous) I had put that mainly down to the spawns, but Svetlojarsk may have also affected this. More people spawning away from the coast zone completely changes the traditional 'inward migration' type of player movement. So areas like Krasnostav which were very deserted in the mod have become high traffic areas thanks to spawns south of Berezino, while the removal of the military camp at Stary Sobor has lessened the player numbers there a bit. It's fascinating to see how much of a knock on effect these changes have to player movements.

It would be amazing to be able to watch the movements of all players on a server on a map to see how different those movement patterns have become from the mod days.

I don't see 4 pristine yellow storage boxes in there!

You could store MORE full ammo cans inside them, as well as food and stuff, then you would have room for even more food and ammo.

I also don't see a 357. or a sawed off....

That character has had both of 'em with 80 bullets for the .357 but I threw it away.

Same with shotgun. Double-barrel shot some asshole and threw it away. A pistol is way more useful in real combat situations. It has less recoil, and you can fire more rounds while a .357 is sexy, but it's still a revolver.

A weird problem I would say, as long as I'm playing, I always bump into bandits or friendly survivors, both encounters are making the game unpredictable and joyful. Literally, I can’t remember the last time I wondered around alone, without meeting someone, even when I join less populated servers like 15/30, still I usually get killed in Solnichnij-Berezino-Krasnostav-Svetloyarsk region.

They should really spawn people all over the map and put in about 50% more map fragments IMO.

I agree. Maps are too rare. I have found one piece in my entire time playing. I also seem to spawn in the same place every single time. It would be nice to spawn any where on the map and not just the east coast.

You can do what i did yesterday.

I was playing solo on a server. I guess i tend to be the boring type... but nonetheless, i was solo. I died by "natural" causes(a ladder).

I then spawned in Elektro. So i decided to loot up and run back inland. I ran through electro and there was a more loot than i needed. I found an SKS, FNX, Revolver... ammo... food... yellow boxes.... clothes. You know, a well kitted character. I felt very guilty for being so geared so fast.

My wife had just getten home from work, so i was getting ready to get off anyway. So i told her "Give me a sec, I am going to go kill myself."

I ran to the top of the "school" in electro and was going to jump off the very top, as i felt guilty for having such loot...

I had a better idea...

I logged out of the server when i reached the roof of the "school" and logged onto a full pop server. I had no delay as i had been on the previous server for some time.

As soon as i logged in a heard my guy go "AAarrggh" I then noticed a guy laying next to me on the roof. 10 seconds later, you are dead XD. The desync had gotten the best of me, as I then heard the swings of his axe.

I never had any plans to kill the guy, or fight off anyone else in the area, I simply wanted to die. I wanted to respawn and have more of a survival experience rather than a boring time, since i had everything already. I just wanted to die "in style"... rather than a suicide jump on a lonely server.....

So if you want to revive your experience, do as i did. Go in the middle of elektro. climb to the top of the hospital or "school" and log out. Then join a full pop server and see if you survive your first 10 seconds. Hell, fight back if you really want to.

Kill yourself... or try and approach as many people as you can until "You are dead."

We're gonna have to wait for some time untill we get that.

I still saw some tents files when playing Chernarus+ on Arma 3 editor.

Different colours, pillows. I'm not 100% sure that was DayZ content.

Well... I´m not a fagala ... anyway ... I got bored too, died yesterday after a nice sniper battle in berezino...
So I decided to be a priest or at least a nerd for now ... not harming anyone, not even Zeds. Running around with my black dress and only a bible in my hand.

Let´s see how the world reacts to me.

I love sitting down watching the sky and read books in dayZ...you knew you can read? It´s fun.

I always lough about people sitting all day long reading, saying not 21th century, I can sit inGame and read, and it´s english... So I learn something. Maybe... or not.

Who comes and shoots me? Please? I suffer from a severe morbus halldean.

Move to NEAF and camp there. Just wait like 5-7 mins in high pop server you gonna have your action. If none camed at that time join other server wait for 5 mins than try to move from jail building to other they pretty far from each other and you gonna get that fear feeling inside you because NEAF is completly hot spot at the moment whit close range combat. y. If you want snipe stuff move to balota.

Or roam coastal path berezino solnychny komyshovo, avoid elektro if u like to camp in building they a glitchable.

And dont go to RU servers if you want camp legit way in jail building(NEAF) either way you gonna be shoted by a russian kid from floor glitch and he gonna just laugh at you and talk about you mother...

Or another entertainment if you fresh spawn or if you dont care about your gear go to fresh spawn place like komyshovo and turn on music

make that music in game whit your mic!

Raise your fist and meet some survivors. You wont regret interaction there! :)

Once had 6 ppl standing and waitin for 1v1 fight till first knockdown so much fun...

if you wanna be bad person shot ppl legs leave em on ground bandage if you can so they gonna crawl miles away till find something that will let em suicide.

Catch ppl force em eat rottens etc etc force em to jump from building and so on wide aspect here to make fun.

And best entertaiment is troll forum this one espc and cry about wall glitch/floor glitch so much fun cause nobody cares much ---> better wait for new patch cause new fancy pancy hats gonna be added :D

I can't imagine this is a problem in any real sense. You and I both know everyone uses a map outside of the game already.

OP yeah you have to be a bit creative to make fun.  I decided to wear orange as much as possible and travel the world.

Leaving random presents for people:

Making tough choices:

And just pointing at stuff!

There is not enough to do.  But if Rocket is to be taken at face value, at 20% done there is lots of content and sandbox play to be had.  Add another 80%, the future is bright.

There comes a time when you need to take a 3 month break and await new features & content.

You do realise the game has only been out for 2 months?

Of course there is very little to do atm, but what did you expect?

There is so much planned for the game that when it eventually reaches Release it will most probably be unrecognisable to what we see now.

Respawning and playing it the same way as the previous life kills it.

Half the time I spend on my avatar lives are searching for apparel to make it look like the "actor" I intend it to be.

And good fun is to always carry your group with a motif, like, play some days only as Red Devils paratroopers. Next spawn all go Red Stars guerrillas, or cowboy bushwhackers.

DayZ is all about the trip as i see it.

OP, if you have 125 hours in the game, why are you such a newb? NWAF is typically empty or avoided in full player servers because people are afraid to die. Go to a 10-25 player server and run around the NWAF. I've killed 4 players in the last hour doing this. I don't even waste time collecting gear -  I simply grab a Mosin, kill a couple players, and by then I have everything I need.

If you ask me, every little patch with just a bit of new content at least renews interest a bit, and there's still many places I didn't see.

So I think we can really look towards a bright future. I won't wait, I think.

Although it would be interesting to see how things would go if you'd stop playing now only to come back at late beta or full release. Just to see a giant step in development, not just bits every time.
