G3 A3-4 weapon suggestion

Recommended Posts

Here is a good suggestion of a weapon. The german rifle G3 A3 and his twin brother G3 A4 that comes with a

retractable stock. They are very outdated weapons but are very reliable and extraordinary durable in unforgiving conditions. Here are some pics.

FN FAL FTW!! we dont need g3 :P

Yes we do! German weapons superiority! But not in the SA, as we aim for soviet weapons only

IIRC, FN FAL isn't in use in Eastern Europe. But G3 (especially its variants AK4 and AG-3) is used by some armies and paramilitary units in Eastern Europe.

Yes battle rifles please. Many European countries still maintain G3s and FN FALs and some even permit semi automatic versions for civilian ownership.

we aim for soviet weapons only

Fuck that, no "we" don't. There are plenty of examples of former Soviet States using non Soviet weapons. The game already has non Soviet weapons in game. A game set in Eastern Europe does not need to only have weapons of the now defunct Warsaw pact.

Check out my weapons list, add your ideas to it.  I already have the G3 planned to be added to it tonight.

Indeed... unless this province of "Chernaraus" is completely removed from how the rest of the world's arms get pushed around from country to country, war to war... surplus populations need surplus arms, then any gun from any country is feasible to be in Chernaraus.

It's ex soviet... No western weapons. Eastern ones, sure, they get moved around. But no western ones.

Your logic is dumb, being an Ex Soviet state doesn't create a magical barrier that prevents western firearms from importation.

I'd bet that there are still a few Thompson's laying around Russia,... I mean, after WWII, there just had to be a crazy assortment of all sorts of arms all over the world, man... after any war there is going to be more arms in more parts of the world. After a war, not only do you have scattered arms just because of armed men invading different continents, but you also have surplus... you gotta find a new place where those arms are "needed"

Edit: And shit... sometimes surplus is just given to have a new armed friend on your side...

I agree, there is no barrier but it is very disturbing that some people want all possible weapons added, like this game is supposed to be a kind of shooter where frags count.

I hope the developers will mainly focus on the surviving aspect instead of focusing on how many different firearms will be added.

Don't want a G3 added to the game...

It would be more fitting than a lot of other weapons and I'd like to have some variety if possible. Obviously doesn't need to be common, but I think automatic battle rifles would be quite interesting, as the post-apocalypse would see the revival (and obsolescence) of tactics and weaponry.

I think it's mainly implied for people who suggest weapons that they be added at some point in the future, not necessarily taking priority over clearly more important features. Although the content team is not responsible for the basic features (hunting, fishing, herbalism, etc.) so it's better we keep them occupied and making new and various stuff to play with while we wait and get new implements.

I say either Fn-FAL and G3 are ok because they use 7.62x39 so theres no need to add more ammo types which allowes the dev team to create more variety of weapons and faster

No they don't, they use 7.62x51. Although the FN FAL was originally designed to use the same 7.92x33mm round as the German StG 44.

They use 7.62x51mm, but that's already in-game used by the Blaser B95 and (incorrectly) the Mosin-Nagant.

I like the G3, I used it in my time in the Bundeswehr. (Even though the rifle was a few years older than me)

The caliber punches harder then the smaller ones. It is pretty accurate (was used with a scope as a "sniper rifle").

The magazine isn't as big, but thats okay.

The G3 even found an use as a hunting rifle, with some changes to it to prevent full auto fire, restricting it to semi-auto. Maybe it could find its place in this role? As a semi-automatic hunting rifle with its rail, able to make use of red-dot-sights or a LRS.

Yes, that would be awesome. The g3 isn't as handy in auto mode either.

As i said - Ak4 and AG-3, that's means Swedish and Norwegian weapons. They gave a lot of such guns in Eastern Europe for paramilitary organizations. Highly doubt about German ones. Germany was avoided any possibility of angering Mother Russia, give or selling the weapon to the countries of the former USSR.

Ya "we" (at least me and many others) don't want all Russian weapons, I've hated the Ak ever since the mod over used it and I truly don't think having only soviet guns will make it more immersive .

We have realism all over the game but why ruin gameplay so we can sport around 50 different types of AKs and crappy civilian rifles ? I'm not saying we need ridiculous snipers or all military guns but I would love to see this gun or an fn fal in the dayz standalone, maybe in a civilians house on a gun plaque (seein as everyone in the world collects guns , and not just soviet ones =P) and it would need a firing pin to work so if you did find a "high powered assault rifle " in a civilians house it would be very rare and hard to get runnin again but very rewarding :)

Yes. G3s are everywhere in that part of the world. Its one of the few western military rifles you'd see around there.

No. G3s are all over eastern Europe while i've never even seen any documentation of Swedish weaponry there.

We don't need ONLY Eastern weapons. Western are fine aslong as they fit the area.

While a G3 and M1911 make some sense, something like the Thompson or Garand do not. Although i did see a picture of a Thompson in a shop in Russia or Eastern Europe, it was alongside 3 PPSh-41s, 4 PPS-43s, 1 MP-40,  1 SVT, several AKs, 2 SKSs and and dozens of Mosins. My guess is it wasn't functional either. I've never heard if a Garand being there, mainly becuase most American weapons were brought back to the US or given to West Germany and other countries to "Fight the red menace".

If we're going to have a western WWII smg, then the MP40 seem best.

I really haven't seen that G3 are "all over Eastern Europe". That would be even pointless, because many Eastern Europe countries have its own military industry. Though some small countries (especially in ex-ussr, such as Baltic states) haven't such industry (or have only possibility to customising of bought weapons). And yes, Baltic states have just swedish and norwegian analogs of this weapon. Though photos from net isn't too proof, because is hard to make distinguish. A little simple way is a textual proof from year 2002.

Defence Forces adopt new service weapon

May 13 - The Estonian Defence Forces will complete the adoption of the Swedish AK-4 automatic rifle as its new service weapon during the summer, thus replacing the Israeli Galil AR automatic rifle it currently employs. Estonia received the AK-4’s as a gift last October from Sweden, and the transfer to the new automatic rifles will simplify the Defence Forces’ logistics, as a standard type of ammunition can be used, and it allows defence funds to be directed to the purchase of other weapons systems. The Galils will be kept by some units because they are considered more suitable for use in urban conditions. At present, the Defence Forces has the following automatic rifles in service: Galil AR, M-14, M-16A1, AK-74 and AK-47.

http://www.vm.ee/?q=en/node/3752

Though Galil remained in the army, but Ak4 was given later to paramilitary organization, iirc. And same was in Latvia.

Good points, I would like to see some examples of western based Estonian,Polish,Czech weapons in game.

Firearms like Galils,FN FALs,FN MAGs,G3s would be great, while breaking from shitty games like Homefront and COD that just fill their rosters with concept guns and rarely used exotic weapons.
