There is a 'dev tracker' section in the forums thats reasonably accurate, and that the developers dont post here and do post on twitter and reddit. In that time, the dev team was tweeting as usual, without a single mention of the forum problem. I fully suspect not one of them looked at the forums in all that time, so they didn't notice.
