Is there going to be a feature to tagg people as friendly?

Recommended Posts

lol. I am not surprised because these boards are pretty much dead because of people like you. I never understood the mentality of coming in a topic to moan about it being made. I mean, you had enough spare time to click in, read, and then moan a post. Why not just help the dude or um maybe um ... simply ignore it? Wow xD

This is why, Mr StupidandLazy: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&section=search&do=search&fromsearch=1 or here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&section=search&do=search&fromsearch=1 or here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&section=search&do=search&fromsearch=1.

As I said, There are only so many times you can try and help people that obviously can't be bothered to help themselves! The tools are there, use them!

NOTE: Search links don't embed properly! Whatever! Search for 'nameplates' or 'dogtags' or 'gamertags' as these are the search terms from above. Point still stands!

Hi.

I haven't read anything from the devs on this subject, but seeing as the mod never took advantage of ArmA 2's built in squad system I would guess the answer is no.

I'd actually be a bit annoyed if they did, since I tend to play lone wolf and groups get more than enough advantages already.

Regards.

I see your point Romeo. People in groups already have way way way more advantages as is cause I used to lone wolf too. Thanks for the answer. I guess we won't be seeing it then.

That's a stupid statement. I doubt you even play in a group. There are times of human error during tense encounters. Heck, it happens even in real life.

btw I am just asking a question. People on here are so uptight and snotty.

I play in a group and I play in a group in DayZ: Mod where EVERYONE looks exactly the same all the time. You don't have nice things like separate shirts, hats, jackets, pants, helmets, and such. What is even better is that if you have the default survivor skin it doesn't even look the same between different people logged in. So to me player 3 looks like he has a white shirt on. To player 2 he looks like he has a dark shirt on. I see player 2 as having the same white shirt player 3 has and both player 2 and I look the same to player three. So in that you can't even cry out, "The guy is on the other side of the building in a white shirt." Oddly enough the technique above of calling out location and such works. It's not ideal, but it works. In a system where I can look slightly different it works even better. "I have a yellow bandana and a green mountain pack." "Oh! You have a guy circling around that building in all camo with a gasmask!"

I never understood the mentality of coming to a forum and posting a question without looking to see if it has already been answered or if their is a topic already made to comment on. I mean you took the time to come to the forum, register, and post. Why not just hit Search and maybe help yourself even faster instead of starting yet ANOTHER topic on the same question then waiting for a reply and possibly getting, "Did you bother to read  the other ten threads on this topic from today?" as your reply?

"Hi... I'm too lazy to bother looking for myself. Hey wait... why are guys upset with me?"

lol. I already got my answer and a good discussion for and against this by making my very own topic[this one].

Search function? No thanks. I don't care if you guys are upset with me. I find it funny actually. Don't you?

Wear identifiable clothing.  Don't be lazy crazy!

Identifiable clothing don't help when you see a guy and his barrel aimed straight whilst peeking behind a wall. in the heat of the moment, it's hard to think clearly.

Hmmmm.. Let us check the forum rules...

Search First:

Use the search function to look for an existing thread on the topic that you wish to share your opinion about. You should also look at the sticky threads (on top of the forum) and browse through the first few pages of topics, in case your search keyword just wasn't included on an existing thread of the same subject. If you create a duplicate thread, it is very likely that your thread will be locked or deleted!

So you probably shouldn't be chuckling about breaking the rules so flagrantly.

Then it might be time to learn to play and develop situational awareness as well as fire control so you don't cause friendly fire.

As nice as it would be I truly hope not.

More clothing options could be the cure to this disease...

Yeah I have come to this conclusion as well. Although it might be harder to remember clothing if some people roll in a group of 8+ people or something.

You can just agree on a uniform or color just like a military or gang might do.

That's what my group does. We all look like Copy/Pastes but each person has a slight variation such as one wears the Aviators. I wear the Respirator. One wears the square frame shades and so on..

ISn't half the fun the danger of friendly fire?  What do actual soldiers and people do to make sure that they are designated as friendly to their companions?

I find the OP really interesting. First he complains about the forum community being so uptight and snotty, and then he thinks we provide an interesting discussion. Would you like us to be MORE uptight and snotty?

I mean, nothing wrong with that, but I don't find it interesting at all to be uptight and snotty...

Also, as had been said in this thread as well as others, I think atag system goes against one of the basic pillars of DayZ. You can already change your clothing and tell your friends where you are. Why would you need tags?

I think you need to read the rules again.

Sometimes it's hard to find the same type of clothing though. I guess it could be part of the fun trying to shop/loot for same clothes lol xD

Yeah I suppose but it is a game and I don't think the person that got killed would like it as much. It would not be a big deal but it may create some disorder/negative feelings in the group.

Oh I am not complaining. I am just discussing while eating my oreos and milk. There are useless posts in here but there are also some good points raised. I don't mind at all. Everyone's different I guess and even the bad posts make me crack up a bit cause they seem somewhat childish to my eye[not an insult] being passionate about something so trivial.

Taggs does not necessarily mean names hovering above all players head. That would feel like a cheap MMORPG in my opinion. I was thinking along the lines of manually tagging players that are your friend and then having like a body outlining or something minute but similar. I guess I have abandon that logic since now I am leaning towards some other ways of preventing tk.

I sure hope not, if you cant keep track of your own group then you shouldnt get training wheels for it.

I don't think it's right for DayZ

Agreed. It definitely isn't right for DayZ. I am a fan of communicating with my friends to avoid friendly fire, and using a bit of target recognition to keep my brain working in a fire fight. Otherwise, we begin to take the risk out of the game mechanics, and that should be avoided in most cases.

Dean has said in some interview where he was asked something along the lines of "are you going to add any way to be able to see where your friends are" (basically implying an indicator). He responded by sayin he was very hesitant to add anything that breaks authenticity and immersion (basically implying no).

I really hope not, part of the fun is coordinating with your teammates so you know where they are and what they are doing, makes those split-second calls so much more intense.

no, this will remove the challenge of identifying players, to know if its a friend or a unknown guy.

We are not! We are old, tired and grumpy from answering the same questions over and over and over and over and ... over again. The replies aren't changing so the threads already contain everything that can possibly be said for these ideas for and against.

Are you a developer? Because if not your answer is nothing but speculation...

Hmm, dat name. Also yes, it can happen but not if you have proper comms and situational awareness and that's on you. The game shouldn't hold your hand at every fricking corner.
