Thanks for the suggestions. However, I'm quite an experienced crash hunter and know the best vantage points, etc.

 

The changes in technique are really around very long runs on consecutive persistence-off servers, which isn't exactly rocket-science.

 

Also, do Steyrs take M4 mags, or do they use their own?

Pretty sure they take m4 mags. 

 

To add to the problem, there aren't that many persistence off servers out there so you basically have tonnes of people farming those same 6-10 servers. so even if you do find one, you will have to be extremely lucky to find something left behind near them

This is quite unfair to one party.

Very true, you should always tell the person you're meeting with that you have friends. at least that way you dont come off as some KOS asshat bandit.

I've never brought another party to my trades. i always bring the least gear possible, only what im trading, and a weapon/ammo. Never had anything go wrong, even when i was geared to the teeth. Although, most people i trade with now have established a sort of trust with me and my guys.

i actually noticed that when you double carry now, and you click x to drop the weapon in hand, it doesn't actually go on the floor, it's still on the right side of inventory screen. what you can then do is drag that to the vicinity box then choose hold in hand

So heli sites are on non persistent servers only? that might explain why i havent been able to find any crash sites. ran from vybor down to pavlovo military the other day and didnt see a single one, went through at least 2/3-3/4 of the crash sites on several servers.

Maybe im just an unlucky guy

Yeah, I think the consensus (and this may have been confirmed by devs) is that crash sites are only visible on non-persistent servers. There is speculation that the loot still spawns on persistent servers - but you'd have to actually run over it to see it.

 

As my favourites list is now mainly non-persistent servers, I'm spending most of my time on them and have had a real run of luck for the past week or so. I've found five UH-1Y sites in the past few days.

well... the private hive I play on, the one with the lootgasms (implying that it's persistence ON), I did see a crash at NWAF right after 0.50 launched, it was a Blackhawk crash that had m4 mags etc. But since then, I have yet to see one, though I haven't been looking either. 

 

I think for the most part, like 99% of the time, the crash model doesn't spawn.
