It is a fashion show. We have cowboy hats and payday masks. We have leather jackets specifically made for shotguns. It's most definitely a fashion show, and women don't get their fair share. That's all.

Nobody said it should be restricted to men's clothing, that's just a strawman(something your post is full of).  We just want to see the clothing kept within reason.

 

I figure at this point in the story, the only people left alive are those with survival in mind.  How is a skirt going to be better than a pair of appropriately sized pants?  How are girly boots going to be better than appropriately fitted shoes/boots that provide the best possible stability, traction, and protection?  At the end of the day I find it quite unrealistic that people in this scenario would be placing atheistics over function.

Anyways, I look at a lot of the clothing as being unisex.  There could be more feminine looking shirts in the game, surely, and I don't think anyone here is really opposing that.  However if you look at the very first picture the OP posted, it just screams unrealistic and dangerous to me, given the setting.

Exactly, we already have a lot of "useless" clothing...like beanie hats or cowboy hats that won't protect you from a hatchet to the brain...or t-shirt that cannot store any item...so why not other items to put things between men and women in balance...that's all I'm asking.

Hopefully in the future hats will help to keep characters heads warm & dry, thus helping to keep them healthy. It's not all about protection against weapons you know. As for the t-shirts, they're meant to be 'useless' - that way when your character has freshly spawned you're forced straight off the bat to go and find clothing with pockets to store stuff.

 

Not against there being more 'feminine' clothing for female characters but if it's impractical stuff then it should be impractical within DayZ.

I thought about this the other day when I picked up the first coat I could find which was the red wool jacket. The first thing I thought was that "this would look right if I was a girl", though I donned it anyway as I needed the pocket space.

If the benefits of clothing were in the system I.e. You needed to keep warm and dry but the amount of pristine clothing was limited, you'd actually have those decisions such as, "well, I can wear this girlie hello kitty hoodie, or I could freeze to death in a stubbornly manly way".

I had no qualms about donning the coat (and the bright red kids backpack I found later) out of necessity, but swapped it later when something more practical came along.

It's not all about "post apocalyptic barbie" issues. Clothing for both genders should be wearable by either. In a survival situation would you really pass over something practical because of its colour or negative gender connotations? Hell, a few pairs of tights will keep your legs warm under your trousers if the temperature plummets.....

Eh, I'm not opposed to this provided male characters can also wear the clothing. Can't imagine why they'd want to beyond the humour factor of it, but it should still be an option.

 

Wouldn't expect to see this until much later down the line, mind. Tank tops and jeggings probably aren't at the top of the devs' 'todo' list right now.

in a zombie apocalypse, you are looking for clothes that help you survive, practicality. I'm sorry women, but generally mens clothes are less specialised than womens clothes (they generally consist of something that covers the arms and the body in a strait forward way, the majority of womens clothes accentuate womens features such as breasts. in a zombie apocalypse, you are looking for something that will keep you warm (your average coat) or something low profile (a t shirt), not something that accentuates boobs or makes you look more attractive, I do not share all of societies views, but generally mens fashion is more simple, t shirts and jeans etc. women can easily wear the majority of mens clothes, so unisex clothing makes more sense to have in a game about survival, if you had to choose the clothes you would wear for a zombie apocalypse, I'm sure all of the clothes you would choose would be unisex (warm jacket, t shirt, jeans etc) not a blouse, dress or skirt

Take a look at the suggested clothing pictures shown.

Most of them are not your typical outfits that compliments

on the woman's breasts by the lack of fabric.I believe the suggested

clothing designs are viable ingame.

i think the best path of action is either

 

-having unisex clothes on display which change the look slightly according to character gender, like in skyrim

-having womens clothes, but not skirts etc, they would be completely pointless, no one in a zombie apocalypse would wear skirts especially since you start of in jeans, i think if they have womens clothes, they should be able to be worn by men

Hey if I'm a man and only have a t-shirt on while I can see my own breath I would not hesitate one second to put on a wool dress or fur coat. Would actually be funny to see new spawns run around as drag queens once the weather / health system is implemented :) Health before ego I'd say.

But I think anyone wearing daisy dukes and similar clothing would not have survived the first week of the apocalypse.

One more reason why there should be plenty of (now) ownerless daisy dukes around. I think survivors should have the chance to repeat those mistakes or show how its done right.

Imo as bambi you should be able to even look like whore. But as you progress cargo pants should replace your sweet sexy stocings because of storage space... or you can hide beans in corset, break legs in high heels and die with style.
