BlksnshN 127 Posted February 4, 2014 I think you overestimate the difficulty of using a gun in the real world. Our characters arent fresh born babies, even if you havent fired a gun before you know to look down the sights, and brace for recoil. We arent military grade marksmen, but we can operate firearms easily enough... Yup, It's not exactly brain surgery. I don't own any guns (not because I'm against guns, just always had better things to spend money on.) So I don't shoot very often but when I do, I have no problems hitting what I'm shooting at. Am I a sniper? Hell no but I could certainly hit a human sized target without much trouble from a range where that person/zombie is a threat to me.

deepfried 95 Posted February 4, 2014 You can also run a 15km marathon in about 20 minutes or so and I don't see anyone railing about realism for that Um, right above your post, where I mention wanting a proper fatigue and weight system.
africanhungergames 192 Posted February 4, 2014 wait. you have 902 posts and youre bitching about food?? really? its probably the easiest variable in this game. but really, i dont understand how you can get to 902 posts and complain about this. If the OP is playing on the experimental servers your food intake is pretty crazy at the moment so that may be why.

louist 163 Posted February 5, 2014 Are you sure you ate 5 cans of beans and a whole cereal box in one sitting? I don't think that is even possible without throwing up (ingame)My character can eat a kilo of dry rice in one go. I'm not even going to attempt that in reality. Whyherro123 2283 Posted February 5, 2014 Did someone seriously say that soda doesn't dehydrate you? Anything you eat that requires digestion, in turn, dehydrates you. Solid food, such as the beans and spaghetti in-game, has some water content, but if you were to eat it IRL, you would be dehydrating yourself . Just because it has water in it doesn't mean it is a magical source of rehydration. Soda dehydrates you because the sugar in the soda requires digestion. Yes, it replenishes some water, and as such, you'd last longer drinking soda than you would drinking nothing. But, that isn't the best example, because you would only be staving off the inevitable. The only consumable one can, well, consume, IRL without dehydrating yourself is water. No ifs, ands, or buts. That is it.As for food, in a high-stress environment, such as our cozy zombie apocalypse, your metabolism literally jumps several gears in order to provide enough energy for repeated fight/flight responses. It all varies on the individual, their loads, and the environment, but an average 30 year old male, with a daily intake of 2500cal, would suddenly require approximately 12000 to 15000cal. And that is just hiking about with a full pack ( I measured myself over a week, as a previously-above average fitness 19 year old, burned close to 18000cal/day climbing mountains. I lost 20 lbs.) Combat, healing from injuries, and other stresses would raise your required caloric intake even higher. So, in summation, I like the amount of food you are required to eat. Whyherro123 2283 Posted February 5, 2014 Technically, its 7 days without water......No, it isn't. The standard for an average-fitness male is 3 days before they become a mission casualty. Shorter if they sweat a lot (running), or are in hot environments, like desert or scrubland.
Commanderfluffy 20 Posted February 5, 2014 Wait people still dieing from lack of food? I can run all over the damn map and not die from lack of food or drinks. Now it is annoying how fast you get hungry and what not, but if you travel light it takes longer.
Zjasuu 337 Posted February 5, 2014 Why are everyone missing the OP's point? IRL you don't eat 5 fucking bean cans at once.

We arent military grade marksmen, but we can operate firearms easily enough...As someone who has watched people learn to shoot... I disagree. Also, while I admit to having no first-hand experience, the sources of second hand experience I have tell me that shooting (and hitting something/even holding a weapon properly) on a range and shooting (and hitting something-etc) in a situation where your life is on the line are two different things. As someone who had learned (sort of) to shoot. I disagree, I know for a certainty that I could not shoot a .357 with the level of accuracy and speed that I'm capable of in the game, especially the first time I fired one. Admittedly, I could just be a/have been around clumsy/uncoordinated individual(s).

College level athletes require (Male) 2215 cal\day / (Female) 1364 cal\day on training/rest days. This increase to around 2x on competition days. Your figures of 12k ~ 18k are simply ridiculous. Sorry, where are you getting your nutritional advice. I'm an endurance cyclist and routinely race over a 220 km course. It takes roughly 6 hours depending on conditions on race days. I have never burnt through more than 4800 cals. As to soda dehydrating you, technically correct, but the magnitude of the dehydration from digesting the sugars is literally insignificant compared to the rehydration from the water component it is suspended in.
