The new Magnum sound..

Recommended Posts

Honestly, like some have already pointed out, I think this is in error. It sounds exactly like the makarov from the mod/arma 2. So I feel as though maybe it got missed when they were compiling or something.

Because it sounds absolutely pathetic and worse than the last sound it had. So either the dev team is trolling us or they made a mistake but that is NOT the new sound. It cant be.

Edit:: Also, the mosin sound while a nice difference sound way to light. Why is it so difficult for BIS to make good sound? The mosin needs some serious bass. It's a 7.62mm round in a long rifle. It should sound bassier.

The animations also need some tweaking. I am just annoyed at Bohemias lack of polish. Get the animation of the bolt and the hand movement in sync for gods sake.

I loved the animations so far, and the sounds are pretty good too. But of course, the .357 sound looks awful. Why did they change it?

when community doing better job than professionals they paying they need to do some employment replace

same with ACRE system, why they didn't approach those guys and say 'this make atmosphere of arma 100 time improve, here is cheque for you we putting in arma3' ;)

is crazy they don't use this gold mine of talents

The very first one they had was awesome, then it changed a little bit and was worse, and now it looks like they replaced it completely with the wrong sound effect.

Bohemia have never been very good with sound effects to be honest, but this looks like an accident.

I just want some very big, thunder-cracky, echoey sounds that will roll over the hills when a shot rings out. Its not a combat game, where gunshots are the norm, a gunshot should be something that startles the shit out of you and travels more realistically.

JUST TESTED IT IN-GAME and IT IS FINE, NOT LIKE THE ONE IN THE VIDEO.

So chill, I think they've fixed it or something!  :D

Oh wow that sounds terrible. I am now Sad.

However the post above mine makes me happy to know that it has not changed. I hope the person above me was smart enough to test it on the experimental server though.

They should accept donations of sounds. I'm sure there is somebody out there with high quality audio equipment and a Python or a Mosin or something.

I have a Mosin and an AR....wouldn't be that hard to get sounds.

Probably because he didn't actually engineer or record those sounds himself, making them illegal to use as soon as someone payed even $0.01 for the game.

You all really have no idea what it takes to capture gun sounds.  Trying to put a gun in an environment in game?  Better get that gunshot as isolated as possible, IE not outside, indoors where you won't be blowing your hearing out, and somewhere you can actually fire off a gun.  I'm sure none of you are savvy to the fact that this is how they used to check sound decay of rooms, they would fire off a gun and see how long it took the sound to completely disappear.

Capturing gunshots is not an easy thing to do, placing them into environments is a whole nother ball game.

Why don't you take a crack at it and bring us your shining examples of completely sound isolated gunshots, with no background noise, wind, or anything besides the gunshot?  Good luck with that high SPL microphone, it's frequency response, recording it from the right distances, angles.

I think you'll find it to be a lot harder than you'd think.  But what do I know?  I only do sound engineering for a living.

DICE does an amazing job of it....I understand Bohemia is not a AAA company but they just sold like a AAA alpha so they need to get their ass in gear and start investing them million into recording like one.

Can someone else make a video then if its not as bad as it was in the orginal vid.

Yes it was on a hardcore experimental server. Maybe it's making different sounds to different people because of a bug?

For those who haven't had the displeasure of hearing it. It sound like a cap gun, would this new sound be what they're going for with the Magnum or could this be a placeholder as it sounds...dreadful to be blunt.

Original Post; JEDI

Thats pretty damn hideous sounding. The sound thats currently out now is much more accurate to what a real magnum would sound like.

Well at least the ricochette sound the axe makes when bouncing off the walls is still accurate! At least we still have that!
