New Patch... Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Rocket posted a pending changelog here ----> http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/169526-pending-changelog-experimental-branch-033114782/

What do you guys think of it? Anything that catches intrigue?

Config: Berries have more nutrition now

I thought that was interesting, so maybe berries are spawning in.

And of course the SKS was added to loot tables along with some attachments.

Never even found a "Berry" bush or tree so makes no difference to me. At this point me and my friends consider berries a myth.

If you're playing on the experimental branch, you're not going to have your character but you should get it back when you aren't on experimental anymore

Correct, its two seperate databases :)

So you can safely swap between them, although theres a high chance of no room in experimental, theres a very very limited amount of servers.

Login: Player queuing system introduced. Penalty waiting time added for switching server or disconnecting a server quickly.

This obviously. Just awesome :)

Still no anti combat log lol.

Not true...

When you disconnect, you character waits around for 30 seconds (currently set in experimental but subject to change) before disappearing. Forgot to include that on patch notes.

It seems to be a very "meaty" patch, lots of potentially interesting changes. Here is a few I think especially interesting and of very possible gamechanging importance:

- Actions: Cannot use an item (e.g. drink/eat) if it is "Ruined" - Killing characters for food or items made less viable. Food and items made scarcer.

- Gestures: Clapping Gesture added, default F5 key - Interesting to see what effect it will have on player interaction

- Gestures: Pointing Gesture added, default F6 key - Same
- Login: Player queuing system introduced. Penalty waiting time added for switching server or disconnecting a server quickly. - From what I have read of a queuing system in other games, this seem a bit ominous. But hey it's alpha, let's try it out, and hopefully it will mostly affect server hoppers and combat loggers.
- Actions: Read/Writing notes with paper and pen now works again - There is going to be so many uses for this.
- Effects: Dazed effect plays again when a player is hit/damaged/shot - A detail that seems it might drastically change gunfights.

I like the combat timer, (explained below) I also like not losing cuff key's because this mean's a set of pristine cuffs will work over and over again.. The cuffs bever disappeared just the key's.. of course unless they broke out of the cuffs...

This sounds like a log timer, which to me mean's no combat logging (please correct me if im wrong)

I want to know the specifics about this also. Is it for example a 15 seconds wait to log out or is it just for penaly of waiting to log in? By the way he wrote it, it seems it is the latter. Anyone have more info?

Yes! I'm coming for you combat logging pussies!

Never again shall you engage in fire-fights that you log out of when you realise you're a bad shot!

The fact that people won't be able to eat ruined cans of food and drink now is going to promote banditry much more and lower KoS a little bit.

Always nice to see.

We can write notes now, i'll definitely be on the look out for a paper and pen now, no longer a waste of inv space. Can write some pretty immersive stories, hopefully they don't have warZ problems with notes not staying on servers and whatnot.

30 second delay on logout?!

Bye bye combat loggers. Only way you're getting away now is if someone's sniping at you from miles away. Which is quite pathetic in itself to say the least

I'm not sure making food scarcer and making ruined food inedible, in addition to "making killing players for food less viable" (which sounds like increasing damage to food during combat) will work as intended. I think we'll see more desperately hungry players, who will be more violent.

I think the devs see it as a way to encourage banditry over straight-out killing, but those bandits will be going up against people with similar hunger issues, who would then have more reason to resist, which might lead to more combat.

Who cares when people can't combat log now.

I will just shoot them once and wait for them to bleed out or knock them out with baseball bat.

The combat log fix, if it works, will be fantastic. I'm just predicting a lot more starvation in our future, which, with the trouble I'm having finding food currently, might suck. My current MO is running a somewhat triangular circuit with the new northern towns as the northern point, Msta as the eastern point, and the new apartment complexes north of Balota as my southern point, trying to hit up all the small towns along the way. As it is, I find the absolute minimum amount of food to keep going.

If these changes make it harder to feed myself, I'll have to start actively targeting other players as a means to keep going. Which is fine, I suppose, but it will lead to more of my victims bitching about it here.

Yeah but think about that:

- Actions: Cannot use an item (e.g. drink/eat) if it is "Ruined"

So you have to rob them and not to shoot them, because the precious food will be ruined if you do it...and since they can't combatlog because you could kill them...a massive player interaction instead of killing is coming if it works as planned....

The only problem with the assumption that people will bandit for food is that there is little reason to carry food to begin with.

I usually have one can of food with me... when this happens I will have zero on me, all food will go right down the gullet.

Personally I would rather see food last longer and be much more rare, in combination with a smaller stomach or have things like rice not so effective.  This way people would want to always stock food just in case they can't find any when they start to go hungry in a few hours of gameplay.

EDIT:  Also the second anyone tries to tie me up I will attack them and either kill or be killed.

Totally right - but I didn't say that people should bandit for food. What I meant was: IF they bandit for food, they can't shoot at their victims, because that would ruin the loot. And the victims can't combatlog, so there will be more interactions. And that is excellent ;)

But I understand your point - i normally carry one or two bags of powdered milk and/or a pack of rice with me. Even if I get real hungry, I just need to find a well because of the waterloss when consuming.

And a smaller stomach or rarer...people are already bitching about it. I don't say it would be bad, I just say: they whine already that they cant find food/that they cant find enough food. Or a can opener. Or a server with 0 people online and daylight that restarted 5 minutes ago...and a M4 in the hands and 20 people nearby that don't kill on sight, but whom they can kill...

I've read too many threads in this forum.
