omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) In the mod, all lives led a fairly similar path: Start on the coast and gear up, maybe passing through the extremely dangerous Cherno or Elektro, then once you're geared up, go north. The reason the NWAF was so dangerous was because it had loot that could not be found anywhere else. Now, the Balota barracks and the NWAF barracks have the exact same loot chances. There's not much of a reason to go all the way north anymore, now is there? People go to Balota, gear up, then hang around the coast. Mod DayZ had some kind of hidden goal in everyone's mind; to be able to survive the long trip to the airfield to hopefully find anything useful and live to tell the tale...It gave people a goal. It provided some direction that many can't find in DayZ (AKA being bored, going to the coast, and killing people). People knew that others would always go there due to it having exclusive items, so there were almost always snipers. It was always a huge risk to go the the airfield; you ran the risk of getting shot and being sent back to the coast, hours away. But if you lived, you got the best items available in the game. Now, I ran through Balota and Chapaevsk and I will never venture near the airfield, and I still have the top tier of equipment available. I don't understand why people go there at all, and I understand even less why snipers still sit and watch it. But hey, I don't go near it anymore so they can stare at zombies in the distance all day if they'd like. The solution to this unintentional removal of an endgame would be to give the NWAF loot that cannot be found anywhere else. Maybe C-130 crash sites? I've heard people suggest it before and I like it. Maybe add one or two to the airfield. Then if people want it, they have to go on the open runway to get it. Alternatively, add a new type of building or change the barracks so items exclusive to that airfield can spawn. Being the biggest airfield in the region, we can assume it was the main one. Assuming this, it could have secret military hardware or at least hardware the other airfields and bases don't have. (Or how about giving the NWAF an airport terminal? Massive building with multiple floors) Edited January 27, 2014 by omgwtfbbq
Geckofrog7 1168 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Add an SU-25? Maybe a couple T90s? Edited January 26, 2014 by Geckofrog7
Timecharge 28 Posted January 26, 2014 I feel like this is a problem that should be addressed (if is still an issue) once the game is finished and we can see what guns they add and what spawns where.

Wait for Beta things will go and be a lot better. Full-Release it will be amazing.

Geckofrog7 1168 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) I do hope they add some kind of plane at some point. I mean...it is an airfield. Edited January 26, 2014 by Geckofrog7
sess130 50 Posted January 26, 2014 I have a feeling they will add some form of rarer loot at the NWAF at a later date. However once the tent spawns are fixed, it will have the best chances to find the best loot available anyway (due to the size vs other AF's). I personally love going to the NWAF just because most KoS'ers don't venture there because of the long journey.
Jumbaliah 113 Posted January 26, 2014 Everything said here is null and void until zombies are added. Don't fret about where people should/shouldn't be going when the actual survival aspect of the game hasn't been implemented
Sensemann 145 Posted January 26, 2014 I like your post. Especially under consideration of what you wrote under your avatar, under "location". Way to lure in players to go to NWAF to check out if what you are saying is true. I figured it all by myself.
jcrose803 48 Posted January 26, 2014 I heard they were going to put a casino up there and all the players are going to go and gamble with Cherno-Bucks for tokens. After hitting the airfield for tokens you can go farther north and redeem them for custom player skins like a zoot suit or a private jet. They've already got empty plots of land that are obviously places where we will be able to redeem our tokens for prizes. I really can't wait.

omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Indeed. I especially liked the part about C-130 crash sites that force players to run out into the open. I didn't think of it; I remember seeing it like a year ago on the forums. It adds risk-reward to the game. You want the 200 round drum magazine for your M4A1? Go run across the runway, it's over there. Edited January 26, 2014 by omgwtfbbq

wild_man 4442 Posted January 26, 2014 I prefer now game is happen all over map now :)why make NWAF special place? mod was boring - gear up - starry - NWAF - die - repeat :|is having already biggest military camp etc  ;) we have balota as main hotspot for assholes we don't need another one
DeatHTaX 1217 Posted January 26, 2014 I respectfully disagree with OP. I think that the whole "let's gear up and go straight to NWAF" is kind of boring. I mean it's just the same routine every time. There's more to the game than going to an airfield to find an M4 and military gear. :D

The reason the NWAF was so dangerous was because it had loot that could not be found anywhere else. So...the SA should have gear and weapons that can only be found in one place sooooooooo...people can just sit their with the full gear and weapons they already have and just camp in one single spot. I beg to differ. I think the loot should have more diverse spawning locations and be rarer as well. Go to NWAF because there's a whole pile of gear and weapons there is laziness in my opinion.

komadose 190 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) why do you want to gather all the "end game warriors" into ONE small area on the huge map? stupid idea. besides, knowing for sure that the super-cool-X-item only spawns in certain spot eats away the exploring factor. bad bad bad bad bad. infammo 15 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Dude, it's Alpha, half the loot and gear are not even in the game yet. I would say like 10% of the gear is implemented. Wait for Beta things will go and be a lot better. Full-Release it will be amazing. The reason that it is alpha is exactly why the original poster made this thread. We are the testing crew, hence he is doing everyone a favour by pointing out possible issues that may arise if it is ignored in the process of development and the addition of further equipment. This is why saying 'it is alpha' is silly. Testing, observing and forming opinions and thoughts is what we do as early access players. Our suggestions may not always be the ideal, but at least we try and raise our voices. Edited January 26, 2014 by Felandi
komadose 190 Posted January 26, 2014 if you think people abandon NWAF because of Balota loot, doesn't that mean that NWAF is now actually a safer place to loot? i should actually go there instead of over-populated Balota?
