Server hoppers in high weapon areas.

I normally just find a good spot in the high spawn areas and do sweeps, and wait for any potentials to pop out. I have killed a good number of players doing this and geared out typically just by being patient and waiting for them rather than hopping myself.

It is rewarding and you feel like you are teaching them a lesson from cleaning out all the spawns. If I can give any advice it would be to shoot them on sight - these guys will do the same if they see you.

Agreed, people should see this as a positive. Server hoppers can be more vulnerable because theyre spawning in blind to a hotspot. Sit under a tree and blow em to hell.

They also dont see you if you hide in the back of the hangers on the airstrips. I also occasionally sit in the top areas of the barraks above the stairs and shoot them in the back, or wait behind the bunk beds in the room with the doors closed, light them up as they enter with my magnum.

Huge problem what can be done to fix it?

- time panelty when switching servers too often in a short period of time

- binding character to server -> have multiple characters (1 per server)

I feel that lowering the spawn rate only increased server hopping. It wasn't the answer to the problem.

I did throw it out there that with high value items, there needs to be a hoard of zeds on it.

What seems to require more work? Server hopping more for that ever-more elusive item, or going through a dozen zeds?

Do you really think that these server hoppers want to risk their stuff that they worked oh-so hard for? If you answered with anything other than no, you are sadly mistaken.

It was an attempt. I'll give them that. But doing only that was the wrong thing to do. I will recognize that it would take time for them to have  hoard spawn on a central point all the time, every time.

Yes.

Thanks.

But There is one problem.. Either the servers or the cloud network would have to carry a s**tload more data.

Maybe the final netcode will be capable of communicating stuff like location and inventory better so this will be possible.

I´m aware that this would kind of soften the hardcore aspects of the game like permadeath but in the end this is the ultimate solution against server hopping imo.

I deserve more beans.

If anyone thinks they lowered M4 spawns solely to impede server hoping you're still not errrr getting it. Testing. Alpha. Bug fixes.

Just be prepared for EVERYTHING you think you know about this game to change at least once during 2014 and roll with the punches!

First couple of suggestions are the best ones. Camp the area and private servers plx come naow.

Camping any area for server hoppers is actually pretty funny. Most of the time you can kill them before they even load all the way in. However, it's almost a full time job doing it. Still, it's some good shooting practice and ultra easy kills. Best places to do this are obviously NWAF, NEAF, Balota and even elecktro fire stations.

you would be surprised at the number of people who live in those areas specifically to kill hoppers. it's what I  call fishing, I used to live up in the NEAF i'm sure I spent at least over 100 hours there doing just that over the holidays think I killed around 37 or so, and i'm sure double maybe treble that CL'd with their hearts pounding when I missed..

To try to follow the DayZ experience to its logical conclusion....private server groups running a single hive, possibly charging a monthly fee, you sign up wth one of these 'DayZ providers' of your choice and can only play on their servers with your current character. Server hopping penalities/bans all handled by the DayZ provider (not BIS). My guess.

Maybe new items are too slow to spawn; any official words on this?

If you read all of rocket's posts, you'll find that at time of release they'll be doing a balanced in game economy for items and such.

Guessing that this would HAVE to be across all connected servers, otherwise it would just make this DayZ: Server Hopping

Once they implement that, server hoppers will be doing nothing but wasting their time.

Also, banditry and theft will become a necessity of the game in order to move these high-profile items from player to player. Say, for example, there are 100 M4's in the world across that particular shard. No matter how good you are, 1 M4 will not protect you from 5 players with pistols, not even from five players with axes. They take the guy's M4 and that's like the only way to get one at that time unless someone dies with one and no one picks it up in time.

Well then maybe you should look for those weapons...

That is a bad solution. Servers come and go. Having the existence of your character depending on whether someone pays their server fee is just not viable.

Its really impossible to get any good gear at the airfields with all the idiotic server hoppers... Today I spawned near Electro(got killed yesterday, attacked by 3 bandits - killed one and wounded another one, but they got me in the end) I dont usually loot around Electro as it is a killzone, but today I said fuck it and went in. There were around 15 ppl on the server, Electro was untouched, there was literally not even one building that was looted, it was the same with Cherno. But guess what when I got to Balota EVERYTHING was looted. Only things I found were 2 hiking backpacks, some pens and several empty M4 magazines.... Ive encountered this multiple times, same with Berenzino, the shipwreck and NEAF, The city and the ship basically untouched but the airfield is always looted. Its really getting retarded. Right now the only way to get some good loot is to camp the airfields for hoppers.

devs have something in the works, i dunno if it'll work, but it's something.

personally i'm loving the cloud, so if it could be made entirely viable that'd be greaaaaatttttt.

I think what you will find is that due to the latest patch this problem has been exasperated ten fold, i am hoping if there is a new patch next week it sorts this issue out a little bit.
