PvE and PvP Server

Hi,

 

i think it would be a great idea to give the chance playing on Servers where other player can't kill you. I really like to help other players but didn't like the fear of getting killed by them right in the next moment.

 

I know it is a bit against the "spirit" of this realistic game, but just another option for player which are more interested in surviving, exploring, supporting (maybe other things implemented later) than kill every human they see.

 

Sry for any mistakes in language...

Their are some servers that people own that put in the title (No Kos, Friendly, ect.) I try to play on those after i get geared up and help people out, now, with that said, YESTERDAY, i was on a "friendly" Server, helping a guy out, and he got sniped, its really just trusting people to follow server rules.

Won't truly happen, even on private hives when they become available.  There'll always be someone who'll join thous servers with the sole intent of killing everyone they find, no mater what the server rules are.  Unless an option arises for server hosts to turn PVP OFF (as in weapons won't damage players) there will always be the risk of getting killed, even on the friendliest private hive with the toughest admins constantly watching for PVP.

As of right now no public servers can't ban for PVP (not without risk of getting reported and losing their server without a refund anyway)

If game is realistic pls stop make from it bullshit. I wanna more hardcore, for you maybe dark souls was hardcore but i wish for moareeee like 25xDark souls, not less.

It is a very real possibility in the future on private hives. Likely there might be a mod to this to disable player killing.

I've seen you make this argument before; it didn't make any sense then, and it doesn't make any sense now. Can you please stop comparing people's desire for PvE servers to the struggle for civil rights for homosexuals? It's honestly kind of insulting.

Yes I made the argument before because it works.

EDIT: Doesn't make sense to you because you never bothered to even try test my argument, which means any refute from yours is meaningless and should be disregarded.

There is no valid non subjective reason I have seen on the forums that successfully argues against PVE, therefore, it should be added and not banned when DayZ is released.

I mean this way of being killed: running through a city, found my first axe and got shot down by a guy with a mosin just because he can.

 

Some people like this way of gaming, but for these aren't that hardcore (and i think i'm not the only one on a community > 1 million) this is a opportunity to fight against zombies together or help each other... and i hope that would be hard aswell

Maybe a good way to learn how to play...

 

So it would be nice to survive against a horde of zombies... and if it is boring, you can go to a PvP Server :)

op you can find friends here :)

 

you looking like very nice guy so for sure some guys will make team with you and assist you defeat zombie horde ;)

 

but you must accept not every player is friend for you :|

 

some guys looking for guys to kill to steal loots or just to murder because they are bad men :(

 

so find good friends you can trust and stay safe but never think you are 100% free from pvp in dayz :huh:

 

because this never happen ;)

i totally agree it would be nice to see more non pvp servers not everyone on this game is a crazed murderer unfortunately as the majority of people who play this are all crazed killers this probably wont happen shame i know but if you want any advice i reckon join one of the few friendly servers about there are always tons of friendly people who rather help then kill and most the time you end up tagging along with groups to find cool loot or shoot up a few zombies  its good fun and yes you still get people who pvp but at least on these servers its not seen as much and when it happens there will always be a nice guy near by running to help you.

Non PVP servers are blacklisted from the server list and shunned by the community.

Your only alternative is to either, join a RP server or have fun getting shot in the head randomly.

OP, if you genuinely desire a play experience which minimises your chances of dying to bandits, these are the things you have to know.

The above link will take you to the DayZ Standalone map of Chernarus. This map is interactive and, while not complete, shows you a reasonably accurate spread of resources across the map. For reasons other than what I'm about to go into, you will obviously find this useful.

1: The game is about resources. Your life is a liability. This means that most people you find are going to shoot first and ask questions later - either because they want what you have, or don't want to lose what they do have to you. This means that staying around places that are frequently looted by other players is going to stand a pretty high risk of getting you killed.

2: Be prepared to waste a few lives looking for friends. Most people who are going to shoot you will do so on sight, or after robbing you. If you want to find a group of people to play with, don't bother looting for your first few lives. Go looking for people and ask them if they want to team up. You will die quite often, but you will, if you're persistent, eventually find a person or people willing to let you join with them. Once you've found yourself a group or partner who hasn't tried to kill you, exchange contact details and be ready to start looting next time you log on.

 

3: The coastal cities are the ghetto of Chernarus. Elektrozavodsk and Chernogorsk in particular are popular looting zones, which makes them ripe places for the opportunistic or desperate to go to kill each other for gear. There will usually be at least one sniper covering each city and a lot of people running around with guns and ammo. If you want to survive for a decent amount of time, get off the coast.

 

4: Low output loot zones are relatively safe. I spent a lot of time playing the Origins version of DayZ last year. One of my survival/looting tactics was to find a relatively small town with nearly no loot prospects and farm the hell out of it. While my looting strategy at the time was based on loot cycling - which I expect will become redundant in the standalone - sticking to places with relatively little loot on that map I linked you will significantly increase your chances of surviving. You'll still encounter people from time to time, but you'll be away from the killing fields that everyone tries to farm because they can't be bothered running for fifteen minutes to get away from the coast.

Short attention span, didn't read version: I understand you don't like dying to PvP, but it is a core element of the game, even though by rights killing on sight should not be. There will not be PvE servers. But you can take steps to minimise your chances of being slaughtered by PvP players by avoiding the places they frequent and keeping well away from established looting routes. Provided you're willing to take the appropriate measures, you can easily avoid most PvP in this game with very little effort.

I wonder what mario would be like if there were no enemies and you could just hang out and eat mushrooms and go up and down pipes carefree.  I guess it's not really a game anymore at that point.

Personally I would love some "PVE" Servers, not like the players are invincible for other players, more like a mentality.

The only thing I would add as an option for servers (if I could) is a bounty for bandits (general position automatically written in chat, marked on the map with possible exceptions for certain areas like the military bases and airstrips, etc.) - this way players who are inclined to hunt those bandits (hrm, heroes) would have it easier, the bandits harder and normal survivors could escape (or die trying to become a hero :)).

Not really what i wanted to have. Obviously you didn't understand what is the idea of this thread.

 

I hope for a real zombie apocalypse in the later version of this game where it is a challenge to survive against them...

 

Therefore, maybe a mod, you can play without the fear of getting killed by a sniper just because you walk through the game....

 

I really accept and like the actual idea of this game, otherwise i wouldn't have bought it ;)

 

But just as an option, for those people who like it, you can disable human damage against each other

While it would technically be doable with a fully functioning zombie AI, I can't help but feel you'd lose the majority of the challenge factor of the game that way. PvE is doable on servers as they are, you just need to be alert, observant and careful.

This feature shouldnt be in the product itself.

 

However i do believe with good modders could potentially make similar scenario as domination in arma 2 and invade&annex in arma 3.

Where players attempt to contain the outbreak together and with features of DayZ maintain logistics.
