hombrecz 832 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Man, I'm glad I bought Rust. 20 hours into the game and I made real friends with a Vent channel. DayZ is drowning in fucking imbeciles. Not sure we played the same Rust. I bought it and immediately got killed several times by other naked cavemen or worse, by folks with M4's and shotguns, while they yelled some crap at me.Some even made the special effort to lure me to their base, only to shoot me there, which seemed a tad pathetic. If DayZ is drowning in fucking imbeciles, so is the Rust ! edit: I'm all up for gender equality, but if you kill a chick, then don't make fuss about it! Wolfguarde 108 Posted January 17, 2014 Killing girls in game is bad thing, just imagine how hard is for them to learn how to play, you don't see too much girl games one time I encounter some of them and they rob me lol but how could you kill her man don't you feel sorry.... Chicks don't have it any harder than we do. The stereotype against gamers is mostly negatively biased against males, which is why you don't hear about female gamers. There are, in fact, quite a few out there, even if the ratio inclines more toward males. In Rust I entered the game and got stoned by a guy laughing hysterically. Than I respawned again and got hacked by another guy, this time silent. 3rd respawn and I 0.1 second later I was dead, with an arrow through the head. 4th respawn - the same guy as 1st time, this time yelling at me "I won't take his stuff" proceeded to stone me to death yet again. I managed to move couple of meters from the 5th spawn, enough to get murdered by irradiated wolfs. I didn't really want to go for 6th that evening so I called it a day. I never had so bad experience in DayZ in my life as I did in Rust, and I'll probably stick to standalone for now.Maybe you should stay inside today, or for the rest of the week. The odds of a piano falling out of a high-flying cargo plane and smiting you like the fist of some vengeful god seem disproportionately high at the moment... Sawnek 12 Posted January 17, 2014 If it was a guy in that scenario instead and you shot him, would you feel bad? If so, then fair enough. What difference does it make that you shot a girl? You could have just went your separate ways, but instead you handcuffed her and sound fairly surprised when she catches on - shooting you. To be fair, if a random survivor attempted to handcuff me, I would shoot them without questions asked, I'm just surprised it took her that long to react, otherwise she would have had the upper hand. Killing girls in game is bad thing, just imagine how hard is for them to learn how to play, you don't see too much girl games one time I encounter some of them and they rob me lol but how could you kill her man don't you feel sorry.... You refer to girls as 'them' as if they're some kind of alien species that cannot comprehend video games. Come on guys - girls play video games too, it's not much of a surprise and is no reason to white knight for any girl you see, otherwise you'll find yourself being shot down. It's like on Xbox Live when a girl enters the lobby and all the guys in the lobby swarm them as like a creepy pack of wolves. I'm not trying to white knight or anything, I'm just making a point. Gender shouldn't matter in video games.

If DayZ is drowning in fucking imbeciles, so is the Rust ! edit: I'm all up for gender equality, but if you kill a chick, then don't make fuss about it! Actually, I've been killed quite a bit in Rust as well. That is to be expected in any game of this sort. The difference is that I don't cry about it. However, I and a few other people actually started a town of 20+ people, (which admittedly got trolled a bit and some mild hacker attacks took place, alpha) and grew to almost 50 members. We had to form a basic government, we had town meetings, ect. Some people are rude as fuck, others are quite friendly. Eventually some of the core members and I had to change servers due to the hackers, to go to an admin monitored server. The fact still remains that I have friends which I made in game, whom I can actually trust. We even have two female members of our group. You're playing Rust wrong if you can't find anyone friendly, and you're making huge assumptions about human nature. The first group I ever joined was 5 hours in the game, just me and six naked guys chasing down deer in the woods with our stones. It was so utterly hysterical and actually necessary that we bonded and formed a cohesive group. This is actually fascinating to me, because on a fundamental level, Rust and DayZ are not that dissimilar. In fact, they're so similar that fanboys tend to gather on either side and try to argue "which is better." But the fundamentals are almost exactly the same. So the question remains. Why is it that Rust players are generally more inclined towards diplomacy than sheer deathmatch PvP? DayZ has formed a culture of selfishness and murder. People are introduced to this game by getting killed, and for some reason, they can't seem to move past that. Murder is basically encouraged within the community as a playstyle. There's so much paranoia in the game and so little to do that PvP becomes an eventuality, rather than an activity engaged in for a real reason. Some of the key differences I think that Rust has are obvious. You get to see peoples' names up close. Everyone hates on that idea here, but it actually forms a natural reputation. Because the game has construction, people get invested in their bases and they can't just switch servers whenever they want. Learning blueprints on a server doesn't transfer to other servers. Logging out causes your character to sleep on the ground, totally vulnerable to attack. These small forced investments make a huge difference, as well as solving obvious problems,\ (such as KoS, ghosting, loot farming, ect) which plague DayZ and utterly destroy the gameplay dynamics. People get killed in DayZ with nothing and ask "why did you do that?" Usually to have their attacker respond "I don't know." It's because the culture of this game has been totally fucked. The mod created a huge stigma about "how the game should be played." There's no construction, no real goal, nothing at all to do or aim for, except for shooting other people. Let's face it. This game needs drastic changes, or else it's just going to boil down to a repetitive survival deathmatch with no real long term appeal. The gal said she came on a low-pop server to - never got to explain, but obviously not to get shot. This joker blasts her. That's why you have a KOS-fest. Nothing worth doing if you played the mod. But simple human decency tells you to leave her alone or hook up with her for awhile. NOOO. He blasts her. A kiddie, and looks like the stand-alone if full of them. Haven't bought it yet, and might not. It needs a lot of work.
