So why do people refuse being held up?

I don't handcuff the bare newspawns, I just want to know they can comply to me so I know they're decent enough to live. However if they have better clothes and a melee weapon, I'd expect them to not want to lose their gear. I had a pistol a few days ago and asked the guy with a pistol (with ammo!) to put his hands up and he did. I looted him, told him how to get out and left. I don't /want/ to kill people, I'm trying not to be a 100% dick

I got you man, I was just trying to explain why people are hesitant to be held up or even ordered to do something. As far as they know, likely based on their own experience, someone with a gun will most likely kill them regardless of them complying or not. This has happened to me more often than not when I have complied, which is 100% of the time when I'm in a bad position.

 

I prefer to play the game as if my life IS the most valuable asset; I believe that's the point of the game to a large extent. Unfortunately, at this point in the game, life itself has no meaning beyond the gear on your back and how far you've traveled. As a result, even a medium-well equipped player might prefer to take the risk of not complying when at the very worst he will simply respawn and regather the same supplies in 30min.

I'm not about to waste my time being held up or robbed. I'm not here to make sure YOU have fun. I'll either fight or run but damned if I'm going to do what some keyboard commando tells me to do...IN A GAME.

Some of the guys attempting hold ups are just plain unsure of what to do when lol i like to play differently every time i die(almost every time) One example every now and then i like to play the jason micheal myers type person ( except i die when shot lol ) i will play some creepy sounding old gramaphone music over direct.

 

Had this one fully geared bandit do a hold up on me the music plays i start grunting and saying shit like mother says your sinfull you must die and this guy just kept telling me to get get down put my hands up etc etc.

 

I continued to walk towards him knife in hand he had all the ques he needed to know i was not going to surrender i was going to kill him and not in a smart way i just like to have fun.

 

End result he did shoot me dead only after i stabbed him enough to make him go unconcious. there we were i am laughing and i hear him over direct in my black screen screaming at me that i am a retard we both dead now what did you get out of that i said a interesting experience.

 

His reply learn how to play dayz ya fucking noob and he logged off.

 

I thought to myslef strange i have been playing dayz since may of 2012 i thought the idea was to have fun some interesting interactions ANY WAY WE WANTED..

 

A prime example of how our play styles differed but one of us was butt hurt by it not leaning to his style.

 

Moral get over yourselves enjoy the game some will some wont surrender its our story figure that one out and enjoy yourself or as they say maybe dayz aint for you ????

 

Edit i forgot to add i play this type character when the first thing i find is a mask and either a knife or an axe lol

I am in berezino, i see a player walk out a house so i say 'stop moving, I'm friendly I won't shoot' as I do this the guy stops says something inaudible down the mic and runs, I 1 shot him with my mosin as he strafes his way down a berezino road( it was a fantastic shot ngl), ' I told you to stop buddy' I say over his dead body. I was going to offer the muppet food, I had literally given 1 other person food 30seconds ago right round the corner, in act my friends were still round the corner with the other guy I had given food to

Friendlies don't shoot if someone is no threat. I don't shoot people because they're afraid and/or don't want my food. ffs

Seriously, why should i let someone handcuff me so he can run away with my pristine gear w/o any trouble, if most of them will kill you anyway for no reason, like most asshats do these days? I rather try to kill one of them before i die and let them ruin the stuff i have, in their attempt to shot me.

Its not about who cares about his character, since you know that you will die most of time, no matter what you do.

Even in much worse ways than dying in combat.

In RL would you let bandits feed you poisonous chemicals and rotten stuff till you die or would you prefer to fight, die in a more human way and quicker and let em curse the day, they tried to rob you since you might killed/wounded some of em?

 

If there will be a time where most of those kind of players are gone, and ppl are actually interested in real player interactions and RP, i will gladly get myself handcuffed if im outnumbered, in expectation of an nice experience.

 

But just get fed rotten stuff and desinfectant, while handcuffed, just because they can, isnt something i would call an interesting experience or RP.
