Has anyone else encountered the 'amazing' bandits that camp Balota airstrip?

Recommended Posts

This has happened to me a few times before and the same thing occurred again today so thought I'd post about it.

I was running along the fence at Balota airstrip, no weapons in hand, and a bandit sat camping somewhere decides to start shooting at me with his absolutely piss poor aim. I took cover and surveyed the area to see where they were. As soon as I spotted them and returned fire, they combat logged.

It amazes me what such great players can be found in Chernarus sometimes. Shoot on sight, cant even hit a barn door if they tried, then combat log because someone returns fire.

You have to laugh about it really, and at the same time feel sorry for them because playing like that isn't really, in my opinion, experiencing DayZ to the full.

Has anyone else come across this kind of player? Would be interesting to hear your stories too.

Nothing worse than the bandit KoS combat logger. Real ballsy there Gents. In my extensive experience, the KoS guys are the quickest to combat log also the quickest to come to the forum to whine about it.

Atnas, I don't mind what server I play on, PvP is part of the game. I just find it unbelievable the kind of players you come across sometimes.

And yeah, it certainly is Nagster.

I see what you're trying to say there Leo but no I don't KOS and combat log, I try to be friendly, it's a game to be enjoyed, don't see the point in shooting everyone you see. That's what games like Call of Duty and Battlefield are for lol.

relax.

i did the exact same thing 2 days ago. sat on a hill watching balota. saw someone running to the barracks and tried to shoot him... well to be honest i just did so to check IF u can actually SEE someone at that distance with low settings and i wanted to try out the weapons... the m4 wont hit shit beyond certain distances -.-

also u dont get any visual feedback on where the bullets hit... NOT COOL.

so what i'm trying to say is... dont take stuff too seriously, there are hundreds of reasons to be shot at.

btw walking around an airfield is an obvious reason to get shot at... just sayin :)

p.s.

did not combat logged though...

the guy ran into a barrack and didnt come out... i panicked... (goddamn sound glitches!) and thought he may ghost behind me so i packed my things and got the fuck out of there^^

I sometimes play on them, Players dont fight back, its like shooting fish in a barrel lol

Oh and you said a server that has Admins. One servers Admin kicked and banned me for killing a player so i emailed the servers host company with information about the server and admin and they warned the server admin that non pvp server rules are against Dayz rules. The server host informed me by email that if the server admin does this again i should email them and the host will have the pve server taken down.

I'd like to say there were different types of players on DayZ, but most people are like this.

Just run towards them zigzagging. 90% of anyone on dayz can't hit you. lol

I've noticed in DayZ standalone there seems to be a lot more people killing on sight than there were in the mod.

I was just trying to shit all over his good times cause I am such a fucking class act when I realized that whoever was hosting the server WAS BREAKING THE RULESS!!! Oh MY GOD!!!  I HATE people who break the rules.. so I went and told on them. Cause, you know... I have nothing else going for me in my life. So I like to be a little tattle tale bitch.

I've noticed in DayZ standalone there seems to be a lot more people killing on sight than there were in the mod.

THEN WE PLAYED A DIFFERENT GAME.

i first played the mod before the MAJOR hype, back when kos wasnt a real thing (was always there but not really a big problem)

later when that article (rock paper shotgun? pcgamer? i dont remember anymore...) was published and new players flooded the servers, the real problem started... its not that those players were dickheads, casual gamers or the often quoted cod-kidz... players just knew what dayz was... before the big hype dayz was just a blurry game... no one really knew what it was about, what u could do etc... the only thing u knew was it had zombies, nights were terrifying and there was something dubious going on in the north-west  :)

so when u encountered another player u were excited... another one like u who didnt knew squat about the game too... so u grouped up... had a little chat und makaroved your way through the countless zeds together.

also firing a shot in cherno wasnt the brightest idea^^

but again, when the hype started and all those websites and youtube vids went online pretty much everyone knew where to get those .50cal's...

and then the "fun" began... there were countless players running around and the massacre went on.

the last month i played (early 2013?) there was so much killing going on that the "multiplayer" part was almost gone (if u werent playing with friends.)

kos was basically the norm. the forums were overflooded with complains and people whining about it.

so less kos on the mod? NO FRIKKIN WAY.

just wait until we get more zeds and then we can have the discussion again.

I'll confess, I am a bandit. While I dont really camp any military installations, let me be the first to say we feel your pain too. My pal and I handcuffed a nice gentlemen and were preparing his 3 course meal of rotten bananas rotten oranges and detergent (Don't feel bad, he raised his weapon at my friend while I snuck up behind him). Upon the realization of his future ingesting of grotesque food, he logged out. in handcuffs. Somethings gotta be done about this combat logging.

I mainly played Epoch rather than vanilla DayZ and most players I came across were quite friendly and helpful. I guess everyones experience of the game is different lol.

I thought they had, in a recent patch, made it so that you die/lose your character if you log out while handcuffed or unconscious?

Logging out with handcuffs kills you, so rest assured while he won't consume that delicious 3 course meal, he is back on the coast.

Don't worry. He is also a complete and utter liar, since server host companies doesn't interfer with private server rules. Server owners can kick and ban players to their hearts delight as long as they pay their bills.

If you fire your gun, you shouldn't be able to log out for 5 minutes, without deleting your character.
