  1. hello there, i'd like to know in what state the zombies are compared to the mod version. i've played dayz extensivly during the early mod phase and i recall an instance after an update where the zombies were a bit buggy so they could spot u a mile away, were relentless in their pursuit and more numerous than swirling flies on a long dead body... and it was AWESOME. later when the satndalone was announced and released i tried it out and found it had a pretty good foundation, but beeing an alpha the zombie population was horrible to nonexistend, so i quit playing for a while... now, a year later, i am wondering what has changed in this regard? - are there more zombies? - are they dangerous? - do they have a good AI? - what about zombies spawning? how had that changed? regards, red.

  3. hi, there i'm pretty sure, many of u knew that there were grenades in the dayz mod. i would like to see them again in the dayz SA... well, but what i really would like to see in the SA, would be the possibility of pulling the pin off a grenade while still holding the safety lever in place. i.e. holding a grenades in your hands, that will explode once u drop it, ...like if someone killed u. this would add a nice setting, if someone better geared than yourself tries to steal your stuff and u pull out a live grenade threatening to blow both of you to hell... just a thought, well an evil one... :)

    true, but it would "unbalance" the game as it did in the mod. heavy semi-automatic snipers are an outright invitation to hillsnipe and kos. even with the arma engine its so damn easy to pick off guys at 600m with an 8x zoom scope, while hiding in a bush... that's not a game i would like to play. well sniping is fun and should definitely be in the game, but in the sense of repeating "hunting" sniperrifles. they are not as overpowered as the military stuff and still "fun" to utilize... just dont screw an adjustable 8x zoomoptic on top... -.- well that said... what dayz needs is a big variety in calibers and guns... so finding a gun or ammunition isnt a difficult task. but finding the RIGHT AMMO AND MAG FOR YOUR GUN... that should be a rewarding experience not a matter of serverhopping the airfield 3 times...

    well i can tell u what i dont want to see in the mod... ANY SEMI-AUTOMATIC SNIPER RIFLE! u want to snipe? then do it repeating style... but i would like to see bows. bows are awesome. knights are also awesome. but bows can kill knights, so they are awesomer. ...u see? they need to be in the game. because bows are awesomer.

    Why buy the standalone ??

    well the thing is, the standalone is much more complex than the mod will ever be. just take a look at something as simple as the eat/drinking feature... also there is the security. since everything goes through the server, and all the spawns and zeds are also handled by the server its much more secure than the mod. hackers and cheaters will have a hard time compared to the mod... the possibilities of the standalone are just straight awesome. of course its still an alpha so buying it, is pretty much a choice of supporting or wait till a more stable and better version of the game is released. but there is no doubt that the standalone is superior to the mod.

    yupp its working again. have been able to play for a couple of hours... but is this really a steam issue? last time the steam authentication servers went down, i could see and join the servers in the list, but was kicked with an a authentication-error-msg within a couple of minutes... today there were no servers at all (visible)

    hi there, i just wanted to play a bit, but my server-list is completely empty. in my history tab however, there are some servers listed (with players in it) i defaulted my filtersettings and i clicked on the internet tab, so i'm not searching for lan servers :) anyone else got this problem?

    lol ...but u should've removed the clothes, nothin can beat a skinned trophy^^ btw, killing on sight REDUCES your gaming experience and potential of dayz. ...guns, ammo, food and other stuff u loose when u get killed, can be looted again. the unique experience u may have had with that human player u shot for no reason however, is lost. ...forever.

    For those complaining about development pace

    well... i dont know... this game has already sold 1 million copies on steam. i get it its an alpha, its an indie game, people knew this was going to take its time...blablabla but even rocket said he never dreamed of so much sales. what i EXPECT now is that he invests that money and hires some additional crew. there is absolutely no excuse why things shouldnt speed up now. the game is popular and will remain so. beta in winter 2014? 2015? NO FRIKKIN WAY.

THEN WE PLAYED A DIFFERENT GAME. i first played the mod before the MAJOR hype, back when kos wasnt a real thing (was always there but not really a big problem) later when that article (rock paper shotgun? pcgamer? i dont remember anymore...) was published and new players flooded the servers, the real problem started... its not that those players were dickheads, casual gamers or the often quoted cod-kidz... players just knew what dayz was... before the big hype dayz was just a blurry game... no one really knew what it was about, what u could do etc... the only thing u knew was it had zombies, nights were terrifying and there was something dubious going on in the north-west :) so when u encountered another player u were excited... another one like u who didnt knew squat about the game too... so u grouped up... had a little chat und makaroved your way through the countless zeds together. also firing a shot in cherno wasnt the brightest idea^^ but again, when the hype started and all those websites and youtube vids went online pretty much everyone knew where to get those .50cal's... and then the "fun" began... there were countless players running around and the massacre went on. the last month i played (early 2013?) there was so much killing going on that the "multiplayer" part was almost gone (if u werent playing with friends.) kos was basically the norm. the forums were overflooded with complains and people whining about it. so less kos on the mod? NO FRIKKIN WAY. just wait until we get more zeds and then we can have the discussion again.
  12. relax. i did the exact same thing 2 days ago. sat on a hill watching balota. saw someone running to the barracks and tried to shoot him... well to be honest i just did so to check IF u can actually SEE someone at that distance with low settings and i wanted to try out the weapons... the m4 wont hit shit beyond certain distances -.- also u dont get any visual feedback on where the bullets hit... NOT COOL. so what i'm trying to say is... dont take stuff too seriously, there are hundreds of reasons to be shot at. btw walking around an airfield is an obvious reason to get shot at... just sayin :) p.s. did not combat logged though... the guy ran into a barrack and didnt come out... i panicked... (goddamn sound glitches!) and thought he may ghost behind me so i packed my things and got the fuck out of there^^

    Movement up Hills.

    so u trying to tell me, u cant jog up a hill when fired upon? idk last time i played paintball and was shot at i practically jumped that hill chuck norris style! its not that we want to "sprint" up a 60° incline... but as soon as a bump appears in dayz the player immediately starts walking at the slowest pace possible... would be nice if we could speed up the walking if we have our hands free.
  14. that cant be it, because all the sounds are kinda "cut-off". u can only hear the first (half) second or so and then it stops. also, i cant tell for sure, but it seems that the sounds are played in a regular intervall... every couple of seconds a new random sound starts. this is a damn annoying bug... it makes playing the game nearly impossible, if u are a bit paranoid (because maybe u found that sweet acog scope for your m4 ...like i did^^) EDIT: btw... are random gunshots sounds also part of this bug? i heard them while watching over balota airfield... couldnt say if they were "real" or not... they sounded kinda muffled...
