Evil Minion 943 Posted August 7, 2014 Doesn't really work for technical reasons. For starters: you can choose with sound driver to use within specific programs. So instead of manipulating their output ingame people would just manipulate it via drivers. And if you manage to counter this people could still deactivate their microphone and use other means of communication - maybe even using a second PC for Skype. You can't stop that. All you will accomplish is having some (mostly innocent) people who don't know the tricks transmitting real life details (mom calling for dinner, girlfriend talking about priavte things etc.). So this would just be an annoying frustration feature for most players and totally fail at its intended purpose.
BeefBacon 1185 Posted August 7, 2014 So the only good that would come out of a system like this would be that if somebody was talking on teamspeak you'd be able to hear them? Right. Firstly I have no doubt that this could very easily be circumvented. Even if it wasn't, players who use teamspeak could very easily just connect to another server that doesn't have always-on voice. Enjoy having every player within half a kilometer know your exact position because of your shitty microphone and the background noise, the constant feedback from peoples' speakers and hearing "Timmy, stop leaving your semen-soaked rags on the sofa" being yelled up the stairs. Rigor Mortis (DayZ) 141 Posted August 7, 2014 I think it's just a bad idea... if I want people in game to hear me, I'll talk through my character. There's no need for them to hear my 2 year old screaming as he runs through the house... nor do they need to hear anything I am saying outside of the game. Parazight 1599 Posted August 7, 2014 You can't regulate communication like that. Moral or not, there will always be a workaround. What happens when I'm in the same room as my brother and friend a la LAN party? How would you handle that? Suddenly people sitting next to each other have an extreme advantage. Merrick362 (DayZ) 263 Posted August 8, 2014 An option for hardcore servers. Always on direct chat. Many players use ts/steam to communicate with each other in game. This isn't going to change and makes playing with friends more enjoyable. An option to have direct always on means that if you are speaking other players may hear you - no more communication via esp ;)This would eliminate players communicating outside of the dayz world. If you speak - anyone in range should be able to hear you.Apologies if this has been suggested. Didn't find anything in search.I like where you're going with this, and I completely agree with the concept. I have three initial thoughts: 1) Oh god, the bandwidth.2) Oh god, the mouth-breathing.3) Oh god, the 12 year old screaming like little racists at their mothers.
