Western-feeling | Or: My 2 wishes: Hat & Leg Holster

Heyho and hello,

 

as some of you may have already thought, i really like westerns and old fashioned guns, etc.

 

There are several things implemented/will be implemented soon, that make me think of DayZ like a Western-Game from time to time

(Compass => Desert

Hunting Backpack => Old Scout/Trapper backpack

Magnum .44/Model 29 => Revolver => Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry

Western/Leather Holster => Model 29 =>....

Sawn-Off shotgun => Mad Max (I & II), Apocalyptic world, no rules, everyone fights alone or together, oil&gasoline are important and reasons to kill...)

 

 

One Shot, One kill. Group together or stay alone to survive.

Know, when to hide and when to go.

 

Seems, like DayZ and things like that got a lot in common.

 

And then i thought:

 

Why not trying to post this and suggest it?

Maybe the people/DEVs will listen

maybe not, who knows? :D

 

 

 

So now let's come to my suggestion(s):

 

#1: Sawn Off shotgun & Leg Holster:

 

When we already are going to have a Sawn Off shotgun:

 

Why not bring a leg holster with it. Made out of leather, like Mad Max's?

(if you haven't seen Mad Max I & II, or at least Mad Max II, then go, watch it nao! (Or as soon as possible) But watch it!)

 

 

#2 Revolver, leather holster, poncho and hat anyone?

I'm talkin' bout Clint Eastwood-style (Sry, not John Wayne. He's also famous and very cool, but his clothing is a bit too stereotypical for westerns, IMO)?

 

 

 

We already have the Model 29 and the holster, so again:

Adding a good looking western-touched and a poncho hat would give DayZ a lot more Western- and Apo-feeling.

 

Maybe the poncho is already in the making, such as a raincoat or so.

Then, the poncho-wish is useless ;)

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the end, i "just" really with for a leg-holster,a good hat with style and a poncho :>.

 

 

The leg-holster could "drop" in police-stations at a very rare chance, and just a little bit more often in military-barracks.

The hat, on the other hand, could be found on farms (Farmer-Joe-style), i thought^^

 

 

 

Maybe my "wish" looks a bit odd or childish, but i'm just into this stuff ;)

 

If you think this would be good, cool and not childish/counterproductive, support me ;)

I agree with a lot of this. Except for the Hat... With Russia, it just don't fit. (maybe if a fancy dress shop is added to satisfy peoples quirky needs)

Because the pistol is a viable gun now, I do sometimes ignore the other weapons in favour of simplicity, being able to reach for my pistol in a second a copping off some shots, is very gunslinger-like. So right there and then I wanted to be a feared pistol user.

When I put it into context i realised 2 thing.

when you pull the pistol out of the holster, it's defaulted as a lowered weapon. Counter Intuitive. Even to avoid the KOS nature, the gun would already have been in the holster, which would be enough, I think.

I've never Ever seen a holster like that, Diagonal on the chest. It looks awful and feels awful.

Sure why not. 

 

More variation to looks can never hurt, even though most people will probably still be sporting the soldier look, since a ballistic helmet offers more protection than a leather hat.  

 

The leg holster I also agree with, whole-heartedly.  Maybe not just for a sawn of shotgun, but for that or a pistol.  Possibly one that can be crafter/tradeskilled to differentiate between one for pistol and one for a 12 gauge shorty.

 

I do however expect something like this to be far down the line in terms of development.  As I see there are many other things that requires attention from devs before this, but absolutely a cool idea that would be very welcome into the game at some point.

I like the idea of more holsters and I am pretty confident that more will arrive in the game, however the suggestion that we may be able to craft clothing/eq seems like a really neat idea. Kill a animal and gather its hide and then go about all the needed steps to be able to make special holster for whatever weapon you have or want to have :) Or make a custom backpack/pants/belt etc

i DO think, that the hat somewhere fits in there. but you are right.

Russia and Wild West doesn't really work together, yes.

 

but the wide land with a lot of wilderness,... A bit of imagination... :)

but in general, i think also think, that the holster looks rather uncomfortable and weird, also not very easy to draw the gun.

 

 

But i DO know, that all these things are rather "unimportant" at the moment.

This is for "later", when the game is optimized FPS-wisely, Zeds are better, more guns, more realistic drop-chances, etc.

It looks like he simply threw a regular Holster over his shoulder. Because it's chaffing on the neck and it's high onto his rib-cage. They made shoulder based bullet storage back then, so it would have fitted better if it was intended for chest use, although it's not really on his chest. The gun still relieves from the waist. 

Also, the trade off between rarity of waist holster and chest holster is hilarious considering the police most likely owned more holsters than the civilians. Holster is for walking around with a gun and last time I checked, most people who own guns, get a holster as a novelty or spend a whole day on the range fairly regularly

I'm looking to deep but the chest holster just feels ugly to me, the sooner they real holsters, the better. 

Soon, we'll be shouting, "Dios maldito Bandidos!!!" (God Damned Bandits!)

The current holster is designed to mimic certain hunting holsters (i think)

 

The only revolver in game (but hopefully only for a short time) is a Colt Python 357 magnum.

 

A holster typical of police should have been added, not the one already in IMO.

It isn't named "Magnum44". It is named "Magnum" if you don't believe me then i will log in and post a screen of my magnum.

They need to add a holster for that gun to, because its holster looks buass.

 

As for the hat, it doesn't really make much sense. Same for other clothing.

The Hat makes sense as far as farmer-hats look a bit like western hats, aka "Farmer Joe"^^

 

Makes it sense, that in a military base stones of 5-10kg lie around..?

Does it make sense, that eating Rice doesn't make you become thirsty..?

The thing is: Is it logical, that in a firefighter.base i can find revolver, holsters for hunting, military tactical-vests..?

there are many un-logical things in DayZ ;)

more holsters! ther`s another post about belts pouches and such, i think there should be more of these.

Alos I`m not shure, maby some one can clarify this for me, DOES? the hoslter allow for quicker draw?

If not, thery should make so any holstered gun, not just stuffed in your pocket, be drawn quicker, and as sone one mentioned, raised and ready to shoot.

Maby a perk for a quickdraw.

Damt im rambling, perks holsters, all so exciting!

Adding this, forgot to mention... FREAKING DUALWEILD, multiple holsters, multiple guns FTW!

If you put it like that, after all there are masks with american flags on them alongside the m4.. A cowboy hat won't do much harm. 

If Russia, suddenly asked for Aid after a crisis, I'm pretty the USA would not respond. So, why are M4's and all other US tech in russia?

They're American, not African American. Just another pair of words designed to create separation. 

I pledge my allegiance to the World, not any flag. 

I'd like to see them live in Africa after living "in da Hood" or a luxurious apartment bought by their well earned Dollars. They'd sooner call themselves American, than African Americans.

If a black man (Can I say black?) is born in russia, According to Americans, they are Russian Africans. 

So.... If an African American Family, immigrated over Russia and had children, those children would be African American Russians. If the African American Russian Family moved BACK to the USA, they'd be African American Russian Americans. 

It's a system designed to FOREVER to seperate one race from another. This is why America is flawed in its values. 

But If a Black British Family did the same, not much would change. That's the diff between a corrupt society and a non-corrupt society, although our Prim Ministers are knee-jerk pricks.  

Black is Black, White is White, Asians are Asians. Indians are Indians. NOT according to America who thrives on War.

iirc there is a similar hat in the works, it might not be anymore but i'm definitely in support of a leather hat, like the clint eastwood video shows, silly cliche american cowboy hats are a no however, because they aren't functional (sun protection? err not rly). 

 

eastern bloc or not, we're in a rural area, and people are working in the sun all day, i'm fairly sure alot of them would be sensible enough to wear a hat.

Leg holster is a great idea. I was thinking about this aswell, it would be an attire slot or whatever that could be worn in addition to a vest.

Also just FYI Chest holsters are often used by pilots etc or by anyone who works in confined spaces,
