DayZ shuts down computer

Recommended Posts

As this title says.  DayZ just turns my computer off randomly while in game. It will happen anywhere from 10mins to an hour. Like full on just shuts down. Its the only game to do it now or ever on my computer!

I now want a refund on this game. I understand its buggy and all. But for it to complete shut down my computer is just not acceptable.  And Im not going to update ever pice of hardwear in my computer I because it is to much effort and I shouldnt have to just to play a fucking game!!!!

Okay, first off, thats impossible. However if it is bluescreening (which is possible) its your own fault for not taking care of your computer/reading the game's specs.

You won't get a refund. Do your specifications match the minimum requirements?

I doesn't blue screen. I just turns off. All by itself. While Im in DayZ.

And yes, the game runs fine while it is running. I even had Aram2 running the mod. No issue. Every other game has no issue either. Just DayZ. Suprise Suprise.

Well, in order to get more useful feedback, other than people telling you to go fuck yourself and that it's alpha and that you definitely should not be bitching for a refund, I would suggest you list all of your computer's hardware and people might be able to offer better advice. As of your post right now, people are more than likely going to tell you in way less pleasant terms to get bent.

Yeah, that's impossible for the program to do it it's self, my guess is something else is doing it and DayZ is just triggering the effect..but that is just me coming up with excuses.

It IS possible. I remember on my very old and very shitty my computer crashed whenever I started GTA :P

To op: To op: If upgrading your hardware is "too much effort", don't play pc games. You're going to have to do it some time in your life if you want to pc game unless you want to buy a whole new computer. Posting your specs here might help.

Most PSU's have some sort of fail safe shut down. Now... again. If you could list your computer's system specifications, one might be able to help you a bit better

A heat issue will cause a PC to shut down unexpectedly, being a laptop they are prone to getting pretty hot playing games. What other games do you play on that laptop and have no problems with?

Is there a discrete video card or just the one on the processor? I didn't see one listed.

Video card : nVidia GeForce GT 525M

Games iv play without an issue. WoW, LoL, SC2, ArAm2, DayZ Mod. Diablo 3, SimCity, World Of tanks Pluss many others.

My laptop can get very warm. But has NEVER shutdown like it is with DayZ Standalone. Its almost a joke and its making me very angry.

As R. Neville said, Overheating will cause your PC to just shut off, That and a faulty power supply, I had issues with a power supply over heating and cause my pc to just power down.

When the shutdowns happen, are you able to turn it straight back on, or do you have to leave it off for awhile?

you should work on your temper. software in early development stages is often unoptimized and may cause frequent performance issues. your account is as stated by many others a typical overheating issue, not unusual with laptops.

Use the freeware tools GPU-Z and CoreTemp to monitor your GPU and CPU temperatures when playing the game. Be sure to turn on logging to file in both tools. When the computer shuts down again, check the logs for temperatures of both components, and report them here.

The community will usually try to help with any possible issues, if you present your case in a proper manner.

This are my hunches:

1. Another program (a naughty one perhaps) you have running is causing a bad interaction with DayZ, leading to your shutdown.  Check your task manager/processes and see what other programs/services you are currently running.

2. You could have malware/viruses.  You need to scan for Malware/Viruses.

3. Your laptop may be overheating due to the GPU working overtime, causing your laptop to shutdown.  A GT525M isn't exactly a powerhouse.  Get a CPU/GPU temp monitor as suggested above.

Scan done. Looks fine.

I have downloaded both programs to monitor my temperatures. See what happends.

Iv always have had random things in my taskmanger for what ever reason. If it still is happening and there is nothing wrong with my temperatures. I might just do a reformat. I hasnt had one ever, so it is due.

Ill post results later on.

^This.

It definitely sounds like your graphics card is overheating.

Ar you using any kind of additional cooling for your laptop?

Happend again. Temperature went up almost 30c from 64 to 92.  Have results but its to much to post in a forum comment.

Looks like it might be a heat problem.

It's not impossible, DayZ could be hogging all his memory because of file corruption, if it's not happening in any other game, it's probably DayZ.

for gods sake stop guessing.

open damn event viewer

Hit start > in search type "View event logs" go to system tab and find the last one ( based on time ) when your pc crashed. It's gonna be marked with red circle with big white X in it . That's the first place you go on windows machine for diagnostics.

Don't forget that psu maybe can't handle the voltage load.

90° is not a safe temperature for your system to operate at, your laptop is definitely shutting down to prevent you from doing serious damage.

If you aren't already using one I would definitely recommend buying a laptop cooling pad or similar cooling device.
