make rare if you want but what is point of make jigsaw from map?

edit for show progress of discussion also some good idea from guys for improve map system

 

 

make several maps for different area but not section of same map

 

do city plan style map for cherno/berezino etc

 

do survey A-Z style map for show roads and airfield city location only coming complete smaller scale no detail

 

make some map have damage

 

model maps so you see as item in player hands for looking

 

make possible do writing with pen on map

What's so wrong with them? You can find either a quarter, half or full map.

 

The maps make more sense than this thread.

I guess it's purely a gameplay thing. You know, collecting pieces and getting more over time. It's not like they didn't have complete maps before the apocalypse and then all decided to split 'em up.

Hmmm dunno i kinda liked it lol, Instead of seeing a map instantly dreaming of a DMR on NWA sniper hill is now a bit different. You could only get the south bit (btw you can do it in 2 bits north and south ;)). I got lost up north yesterday because i only have the south bit and a new road conned me good style lol. Thats something i miss from my first days in the mod. Being completely lost and no idea where im heading :)

 

Iv got a Road Map of england....dosent have all the roads on it though, I would have to get a map of Chester to get proper road layouts for there. I know thats on a much bigger scale but i think thats what they were going for.

 

Might look better if the maps looked torn, so your finding a ripped off part of it. Not a complete map that only shows such a small area.

It IS pretty useless to look for all the pieces AND take up precious space when they released the full map to dayz.db.

 

It's much easier and quicker to alt / tab out if you need to look at a map. And we all know most everyone will do this anyway.

I think I'd be best to split them in a northern half and a southern one. The southern one is for tourists, they want to visit the cities and stuff and the northern one is for "normal" people :P  And obviously there should be a full map, and most of the time you should find the full one.

 

Then again, I never use the ingame map, always the DayZ central map or just my memory.

I've used many real maps. For the area of coverage and detail it should probably be more maps to be realistic. My only complaint is that you should be able to store them together to take up les space

and teamspeak, and gamma at night, and all other exploits that ruin the game. people complain at a lack of realism and then use game-breaking exploits like looking at the map online lol

Different parts have different maps. Not necessarily in the strict rectangle form like it currently is - but it's not unrealistic.

survey map for region is different thing 

example in UK they do map for whole county

 

also for region but they don't link together to make one map :huh:

Seperate maps with more detailed versions of specific regions of a country are extremely common throughout the world.

I've seen topo survey maps that are divided like they are in dayz for hiking and just general survey for construction. I think you have unrealistic expectations of maps my friend. Google earth has spoiled many of us so don't feel bad

I found two halves of the map. It is useful for range finding and not much else, to me at least. The smaller segments of the map have more precise ranges for the grids though and are probably better for this use than the whole map. Schools and the captains bridge of the wreckage seem to drop them consistently.

If realism is an issue, lets be honest! I am from the UK and the only map I have ever seen anyone use is an A-Z, which is a road map people keep in cars. they are seperated into zones and regions on each page, you use the A-Z index to find the page you need!

 

Only hikers and geography teachers have any other maps!! And they are localised maps for useable detail. You dont go hiking in the pennines with a map of Great britain.

It's a compromise between gameplay and realism, Rocket knows no one would use the map if it took many slots.

There should several different maps you have to collect but I agree you should be able to combine so that they only take up one inventory slot.

229 sq km area is not so big in real world :)
