20 Plus Million Dollars Later...

Recommended Posts

I realize that this is in the alpha stage, but with such rapid sales and inflow of cash I think we as gamers deserve to know what's going on behind the scenes. I.e. more information on updates and ongoing projects that a more specific than; zombies: an ongoing project. Does anyone else agree?

Can't the devs enjoy a little holiday time? They've been working on the game for over a year now.

I'm sure we'll get some news in the next week or so.

Nope, let them work, give gameplay/bug feedback, and give them your trust. You bought the potential of a game, nothing less, nothing more.

Usually I NEVER buy anything not finished/alpha/etc but that's one project (and man/team) that I really wanted to give my money to and support from the get go. That done, I let them do their thing...

I think we can at the very least expect Rocket to goof around in a MoCap suit some more, maybe.

Exactly, people keep saying, "let them enjoy the holiday" well how much fucking time do you need off work? I had 4 days...

They don't have to say anything at all, they can keep quiet and not say anything about updates or future updates and just roll them out when needed. You don't see Infinity Ward or DICE telling you the update logs before they come out, you just get them when you get them. I'm beginning to think they should of just kept quiet about the updates and just told you again, "They come when they come"

the more insight they give us about whats going on behind the scenes the slower the more time that takes away from actually getting closer to the release of the game. i'd just let them be, give them your feedback and see what happens

I think when you make 20 million dollars over the course of a month then you can take more than 4 days off.

I'm not a genius but I imagine making that much money while a game is in alpha will result in a kick ass game when it is finished. The community needs to be patient.

I hope we hear from them soon. If not soon then I hope in a few months they will have a plan of what they plan to do to turn Alpha into whatever comes next. That's Beta right?

So fucking what? Do you have any idea how hard and stressing coding can be? I don't think you do. So keep your damn mouth shut will you? And show some respect.

They don't HAVE TO, but it would be nice of them to let us know what's going on. I think rocket was the primary reason we got so much inside information and he's back soon™.

Good for you. Doesn't mean you need to use your own personal experience to dictate what others should have done, or should be doing.

(I had less time off over the holidays than you, yet I don't feel entitled to dictate the schedule of others)

You had 4 days? Lucky you. I had 2.

Ya know Rocket? The guy whose idea we're all enjoying? Yeah, he's from a different country than BI is located and stuff and has been away for a LONG time.

A happy, well rested dev is a productive dev imo.

Plus, wasn't there a patch just a few days ago?

Rocket will be doing this mid-january.

We (bohemia and I) had very ambitious plans for 2014 already, however this amount of sales was completely unexpected. Honestly, 250k within a quarter was what I would have considered a success. So to move nearly 800,000 in under a month is crazy.

We'll be finalizing our roadmap in mid January, but it is safe to say that this kind of result will be having a very positive effect on that roadmap.

Money is irrelivent in a way. No amount of it can speed up creativity. Sure now they know that the bills are paid for a while but I wouldn't want them suddenly hiring a huge staff to make things move quicker. A small team means more of Deans time with each member keeping a strong unified vision of what they want to make.

Also we know alper is gonna last about a year, whats a week or 2 now to celebrate, and unwind after what I imagine was a very stressfull few months getting to where they are now.

Most of the team hadn't had a day off for over a month. Working 12+ hour days 7 days a week until Christmas break.

I'm pretty fucking sure you didn't have to work those hours.

Buying the game entitles you to nothing. Say it with me, nothing.

You paid for a copy of an in progress game, your able to play, that's the end of it.

They are no where morally responsible to have any communication with the player base.

It's hard to believe that people think that just because they made 20 mil that they will instantly release a complete game with all the features that you could ever want in it. It is unrealistic to believe that and any time spent doing PR is time away from development.

Get it into your head. Making 20 mil does not mean that they have to do sh*t any faster. It also doesn't mean that they have to tell you any more than they are. Don't demand sh*t  because of some arbitrary number, it doesn't work that way.

Completely agree with this but when they start developing again i wouldn't mind some updates on what they are doing!

They're fucking working on it is what they're doing. Go look at the code for tic-tac-toe. Its complicated, time consuming stuff they're doing. Even ONE bug can take weeks to just FIND, let alone fix.

I worked with a team of devs who put all they're free time into a mod that took 6 years to reach beta and the first page of the dev forum was usually full of threads with posts from the last hour. And even though it was free, they'd get insults thrown at them related to not going fast enough from ignorant people who had no idea what making a game is like. These were professional programmers, artists and animators...

anyone that bought this game has seen the notice at least once stating very clearly not to buy this game if you're expecting anything more than early access testing and Christmas/new year holidays come as standard to most professions and companies. taking these two points into account, pretty much no one has a right to whinge. people need to smoke a joint, calm the fuck down and if needs be do something else until the alpha phase is somewhat further through.

Seriously, some of you are just inpatient asshats. Whether YOU got 4 days off or 100 days off doesn't matter or are you just that jealous, the Devs deserve the Holiday they get and it is what it is. Some didn't even take a complete Holiday hence Hicks giving us a few updates and we got a patch. So, it is ignorant to expect and demand things that; in the grand scheme of things; is trivial. They give us updates when there is something to give us and I guarantee next week, shit WILL get real(as stated in another post).

Wtf people!? Get a grip!
