First experience and a few comments otherwise

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The game begins somewhat unrealisticly. If you think about the game set up, about 1/4 of one percent of the population is gone (40 people to a server). Where are all the bodies of the rest of the population? There is much too little food and items in larger cities. You can't tell me that there's only a few cans of food, an orange, a banana and rotten kiwi's and a couple fire axes in a large town, for example. Why are there M4's and not AK's and so few of them in a military base? Why are there 2 bandages in a hospital when you should be able to find thousands of them?

After my first 5 hours of play:

Forcefully handcuffed and IV started by two other rifle armed players (my buddy and I had axes). Because they didn't ask and forced themselves, I exited out before they could harm me.

Had to respawn numerous times due to:

  • Game/server issues (left spawn point several times only to be sent back to spawn point and losing everything I had picked up along the way)
  • fell off a building
  • walked into a room and killed by another player armed with a rifle

Thoughts...

  • Work into the game where we can make a cache point. That way, whatever the means we must respawn, we can go back to the cache and pick up some stuff.
  • add name markers tied to a players account. this way we can keep track of friendlies and baddies.
  • find us an easy way to remember servers (may already be this way but I haven't found out yet)
  • Allow at least a 4 member team to spawn together

Over all, my first experience was a $30 bust. However, the game seems that it could be fun and has a great deal of potential. I am intrigued and will contiue to play.

Thanks,

Barbosa

You are one of the people who clearly does not understand the disclaimer you click (I understand) before playing. Its an alpha. Sorry you didn't like it come back later? Also 4 member team to spawn together? It's DayZ.. the zombie apocalypse not meet up with your homies and run amok. You die, you lose gear you worked hours for. Its how it is. If you don't like you might as well go play l4d or contagion or some other zombie game because this might be a little to hardcore for you mate.

Edit: Oh also if you are upset about being killed by other players with guns when you have an axe, then you really are playing the wrong game mate..

Really? Because they didn't ask, You combat logged?

Back on point.

1. This is coming, Be it tents or stashes, But not until later.

2. We will probably never see this, Thank god. Nametags = Horrid Idea.

3. There's a history tab, I think there's also a favourites tab?

4. There was talk of this, Not sure where rocket and the team stand on it.

Can I please handcuff you, hold you prisoner and draw your life dependant blood please?

This is a beautiful way for bandits to treat people in game!

P1:''Can I kill you?''

P2: ''No''

P1 decides to shoot anyway.

You must be new around here....

Welcome and I'd suggest reading around a bit to get acquainted with the mind set of the game. For what its worth open your mind, stop thinking about silly blockbuster like games and maybe after few more hours of play you may appreciate the game as it takes entirely different approach.

There must be a reason why dayz sold 700000 copies in first couple of days

Yes, I left the server. In a catastrophic scenario, people need help and support. Douchebags that kill fresh spawns are nothing but...welll...douchbags. You have to figure that a map of this size has roughly 5,000 to 10,000 people in it, not including major and minor military base personell. And all that's left is 40 (in any given server) - that's less than 1% of 5000. If one cannot help their fellow man that has nothing, to make friends and survive, and would rather kill a player for an axe and a couple cans of food, then one is a douchebag. I, therefore, reserve the priviledge to exit the game and jump to a server that I hope has less douchebags in it.

Is there something wrong with walking up to a guy and asking? Apparently you think so. Need help? Ask me and if I have the means to help I would glady do so. Force yourself on me and I commit suicide by moving to another server.

I could of answered all you questions, why? because i read about the game and dig a little.

I wont answer them because you are a combat logging weakling who doesnt deserve it, do some digging yourself and maybe you wont look so stupid the next time.

Yup, I'm new, and said as much in my OP. I have 2 days of this game under my belt and have nothing to show for it. As for reading around a bit, I gather by the replies to just this thread that the mindset of surviving in a post cataclysmic state is to kill and force yourself on others.

For what it's worth, the only other game I play is War Thunder. I don't have the minset of the other blockbuster games. The last shooter I played was S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Yes, there are many reasons why this game sold very well. Many of those reasons are not mine, I wager.

Thanks for the feedback.

I thought the claimed "story" was 40 people ship wrecked onto Chernarus 1 year after the outbreak?? Correct me if I am wrong, or flame me.

Well I do agree with you on that some players are simply dicks and beyond. Personally I like to play as lone survivor on low-er population servers as I just don't like bumping into another player every 10 minutes. IMO that is not what days is or should be about. Currently however it's little boring and too easy, as undead are just super primitive.

The only advice, being new to the game and all, is that find low population server ( 10 players or less ) and get the feel of the game without all the annoying insects with guns.

Thing to note is that the game and zombies will become richer in numbers and better at ''combat'' as the time pass but on the other hand is good time to get to know the game mechanics.

i have a feeling you dont spend 30$ very often if thats the case. ive played this game for 6/7 hours and every time i get on its a nightmare

1st experience) scoured buildings/farms/houses for over an hour to find a few rotten fruits, died of starvation

2nd experience) made it almost all the way to berezino before a player armed with a rifle spawned in behind me. i played it cool, as i had no weapon, i asked him please not to shoot. hes says "okay okay". i turn around to run and he shoots me in the back

3rd experience) much like the first, absolutely no loot ANYWHERE and no zombies seen in over 2 hours of gameplay. i jump off, then log on a few hours later and hear zombies screaming behind me but alas, there are no zombies to be found anywhere!

i understand its the alpha, but the KOS is rampant already and that was a determining factor in my departure from the mod. all my time spent on the standalone was in servers with <12 people. im almost willing to go back to the mod for a while just to take out my frustrations on someone

are you getting the adrenaline rushes yet op? wait until they start coming then you will start to get DayZ!! you only think you know pain now wait until you've kept a character alive for hours, then days, then weeks & die. Wait until you see how it feels and then you just laugh about it.. this is what makes the "game" so unique - combat logging is a no no, no matter how justified you think you are in your own mind.  No happy endings in the zombie apocalypse !!

That's exactly what me and my friends have been doing. Thanks for the feed back

3. There's a history tab, I think there's also a favourites tab?

To be fair to him, I find that Favourite and recent servers tend to get wiped from the list if the server restarts or the game restarts, not sure if it's just me or everybody in general but it's an Alpha so I wouldn't be surprised if it's everybody.

Well seeing as you dont know me from Adam its a bit  futile to reply that just as this is to yours,...but just to confirm that I was replying in that other poster in his think about it being a wasted purchase and I was simply voicing my own personal opinion,..... and in any case its my money, my life, and my enjoyment and I couldn't really care less whether youre enjoying yourself or not,..... because I am.
