What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?

Well I was at Balota yesterday with some friends. We were in the jail house upstairs and another group came up and wiped out all of my team except myself. I hunkered down and lay prone next to the bodies to wait for them to return. However, a sniper with a Mosin took them, and many other players in Balota out; saving my skin in the process. It was a sort of beautiful symbiotic relationship. With each report of the Mosin I knew there was one less bad guy to worry about. It was like swimming in shark infested waters and being chased by a shark, but another shark ate my shark. Thank you Balota sniper.

Nuke 'em all. IMO, in 3rd person view the snipers are a privileged clique. In a true 1st person view position they sweat way more...imho.

My thoughts - people are bored. It's too easy to fully gear up atm. Zombie AI is horrible. What else is there to do really besides server hop and snipe people?? I don't support it, but I can't blame them.

To be honest I haven't been anywhere near Balota ever sense the first time I logged into the SA and made my way there. As soon as I saw "3" barracks alarm bells just went off, so anybody that complains about getting killed by these campers may what to reevaluate the situation and sometimes it may be better to travel far than look for that easy loadout.

 

If you don't give them a target then they shouldn't be a problem, make them work for their kills instead of being lambs to the slaughter.

I hide in the tree line around Balota and rob people coming out/in. Less risky than going in myself. Some people combat log though so I'm wondering if surprise- murder is a better bet. Aka kos.

Honestly, there isn't much else to do until they make ZOMBIES a threat, so everyone's day is a little more interesting.

Everybody hates a sniper, but when you're geared out and have all the food/water/ammo you want.. the only thing left to do is help newbies, hunt bandits, or kill.

Helping newbies carries risk and no reward. You risk your life to give away items. Very helpful and nice, but doing this solo is dangerous.

Hunting bandits is very high risk but with high reward (their stuff). I've tried this and died every time, need a group or don't bother.

Sniping is low risk but high reward through entertainment (isn't that what games are for?) Yes it's not entertaining to the guy getting shot, but you have to realize that not EVERYBODY will be the kind helpful survivor. In a real apocalypse you will see a diverse number of survivors, each with their own tactics.

I'd like to think that I'm teaching people to stay away from military installations. They are dangerous and for good reason. I am forcing people to come up with alternative survival tactics rather than "Run to balota, gear up, pwn face" Like snipers or hate them, we don't care.

I have no problem with camping snipers, but hahahahahahahaha at the fact that you try to justify it as teaching people not to go to military installations.

When I handcuff snipers and force feed them detergent (if they don't uber pro combat log) it's because I'm teaching them not to snipe military installations. 

 

In playing this game for nearly two years, my experience has been that 95% of the guys killing people at airfields are people who have just server hopped and accrued all their gear in the last 30 minutes.

 

The only problem I have with snipers is that it's the most boring way to mess with people. Especially sniping bambies. You can poison people with food, handcuff them to stuff, execute them with an axe, strafe a house with hundreds of M4 rounds and you're sniping a dude with no weapon?

dont worry, im sure the rocket will turn friendly fire on so we cant kill each other. Just focus on surviving zombies and will only spawn us in the same spot somewhere on the far east coast so you have to run 50mins every where just to get gear. Cause thats pretty much what the game is coming to

I'm sure if there was a real apocalypse there would be jerks too. I'm just enhancing the realism of the game. Like I said, not everybody will be a carebear and want to hug and snuggle you. Some people just want to watch the world burn, and I just found a box of 68 worn matches... ;)

there would be a tiny percent of people as you described and when they die as they would most likely sooner than later they would be gone (not respawned jump a few empty servers gear up come back to a high pop server and set up sniping again .

 

You do not need to justify your style of play if you like it have fun then by all means keep going BUT please dont post this sort of non sense its complete drival with almost no basis in fact what so ever again its your play style so keep doing it jerks got to be jerks.

LOL WAT? Camping Balota from the apartments is the best you can do right now in terms of killing. Besides I don't shoot unarmed noobs down there, I only shoot fully geared noobs that are unable to have a proper fight against someone with a weapon. Idiots tend to stay by the walls behind the barracks n shit or where close to the tents. I even have my zeroing worked out.

Yeah, you can find them all over.  Long range scope isn't even an exclusively military spawn.  You can find them in houses.

Someone said it before, sniping is one of the real "end game"-y type things in the alpha right now. There are only so many things you can do once you're fully geared up.
