Crakka 44 Posted January 1, 2014 This is the stupidest frigging thing they could have done. No one wants to run for an hour to bolota to get gear because eveyrthing else has been looted in elektro. I cant wait for them to release the admin tools to people that actually know what they are doing...This was a really good idea..........NOT
Qu1n 140 Posted January 1, 2014 I can understand ADDING spawns to the east coast.. but removing the south/west spawns completely is a bit.. meh. You want constructive feedback? I don't like the new spawn system and it seems i'm not alone in that. Give us MORE spawns, make it MORE random not less :)
ninjacalypse 551 Posted January 1, 2014 The new spawn changes as seen throughout the game by most players currently and also confirmed by Hicks here: http://imgur.com/a/URaPv has been done too soon! Not only are they forcing players to run through the wilderness, prolonging the journey to actual military areas but with item spawns still disabled and player count so low this change will make DayZ even more barren due to no close centralized areas. Turn off these new spawns and revert back to the old ones until item respawns are active and player count is up to 60-75 people. Don't make the SA more tedious than it already is for testers! So...? Everyone has to spawn at Cherno/Balota or the game is no fun?
ninjacalypse 551 Posted January 1, 2014 whilst the game does not have many objectives or much content. It should stay fun until the game is worth playing properly. To quote the game's product description which you may or may not have read: We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.
Powell (DayZ) 734 Posted January 1, 2014 I, personally, like the change. The heavy miltary-laden west side of the map actually is the end game now
Bakercompany86 347 Posted January 1, 2014 I, personally, like the change. The heavy miltary-laden west side of the map actually is the end game now I like the change as well. No reason to corral new players along the coast to be hunted. Again if people want to kill others, they're going to have to earn it.
HIHBGaming 14 Posted January 1, 2014 The change is fine, it's the people who want it easy that have it all wrong. Before buying this game people should of done their homework and educated themselves on what type of game DayZ is/will be.It's only going to get more difficult and this has always been the course. Some just need to realise this and get a grip cos easy mode is about to get shitcanned.
libertine 351 Posted January 1, 2014 I like the change. If most people remain at the coasts, encouraged by a easy to get to PVP area right at spawn, it really makes the inland too unpopulated. Its already really hard to find players because of interiors and zombie spawns no longer indicating presence. I'd really rather spawns be all over the map. Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 1, 2014 That's pretty selfish just because you like to play a running simulator for an hour to get to north, does not mean everyone else do. But everyone should be forced to play Balota deathmatch because that's what you like, amirite?!
diznoid 12 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Not only are they forcing players to run through the wilderness, prolonging the journey to actual military areas ... Don't make the SA more tedious than it already is for testers! If all you want to do is run straight to the military areas, then you're playing the wrong game. ArmA 2/3 wasteland would be a better fit for you. Edited January 1, 2014 by diznoid
maliceubx 73 Posted January 1, 2014 Obviously the message I was trying to relay with the OP wasn't clear since most people took it as a 'QQ you're selfish all you wanna do is gear up and deathmatch' whining post. What I was trying to say was look at the previous patches and the towns you passed in - these were not small towns and apart from Berezino we now have a fraction of the initial loot options we had and yet try joining at full server during initial spawn locations and you were hard pressed THEN to find literally much of anything but rotten fruit and bunk melee weapons like crowbars. Now with these new spawn locations statistically there are less buildings for things to spawn in around the same walking proximity. I'm all for this change I just feel that with item respawns turned off it isn't going to simulate the proper experience because 3 out of 40 people three hours prior are going to loot a town and leave practically nothing and exactly nothing will respawn. All I'm saying is wait for item respawns before making us run 5 KM's through the wilderness to find a tiny empty town. Again, I'm not even talking about weapons and PVP here, I'm just talking about straight survival.
joikd 25 Posted January 1, 2014 Why is anyone dying so much that the spawn points even matter?
Zogvarn 118 Posted January 1, 2014 Straight survival isn't hard even with the new spawns. Move north and/or inland there is still plenty of gear to find. Each of the new spawn areas has a water source nearby so that isn't an issue and you don't need food right away after spawning. Fill up on water and move away from the initial spawn area to one of the more inland towns or Berezino area. I spent roughly 2.5 hours last night watching the southern approach to Berezino and Orlevets area on a full server. I saw 2 people total and both of them were already kitted out pretty good (minimum axe, backpack, upgraded clothing) before even hitting Berezino proper. I moved southwest from there and watched the Elektro eastern approach. Saw about 20 players over a one hour period. Those guys were lucky to have a melee weapon or backpack before getting into downtown Elektro. Key is not to go west along the coast from initial spawn. Everyone is going that way.
Mr.magical 8 Posted January 1, 2014 I cant spawn into balota and be full geared in 5 minutes! O the humanity! I for one welcome our new spawn location overlords
atmaca (DayZ) 48 Posted January 1, 2014 New spawns are pointless. It only makes players run more, that's all. Everyone heads to balota or military bases anyway. If you wanna solve this problem two things to do first: 1. Make military equipment extremely rare. Also ALL of the military equipment found in military areas should be ruined. The only place to find pristine or worn military equipment should be randomly placed heli crash sites or randomly dropped military crates all around the map. 2. Remove server hopping. MurQ 33 Posted January 1, 2014 The new spawnpoints are terrible as the east coast has recieved little attention.Balota is still the nearest military spawn for most if not all the new spawnpoints. How about divide the coast up into say 6 regions and allow the player to pick a region to spawn in and they will randomly spawn along the coast in the region.Solnichny to Berezino should be included as an area.Balota needs to be toned down it was fine in the mod its currently as good as NWAF which is fine for early testing but when you have nearly a million people playing it has a negative effect.
