SKS A mix of DMR and M14 ?

it´s my question ... SKS will can to use  PU scope  and Long Range scope like mosin ? With this attachments  will be one of the most versatile weapons in the game,  no scope to CQC , PU scope to medium range and Sniper Scope to long range (not as far as the mosin) .. this will be the Jack off all trades ..

They'll probably bring in a lot more mods for weapons, so this won't be the only semi-auto universal gun. And 'a mix of m14 and dmr', assuming you mean the DMR from the DayZ mod, the M14 IS the DMR. One gun, just different body and scope.

Nope, it's gonna be a semi-auto AK-47. Less DPS, probably more accurate and allows for more snipe-y attachments than the AKM/AK-47 will.

If they follow the balance they had in the ARMA series, it's damage output will be about a third more powerful than 5.56 with better accuracy and bullet speed.

5.56 already kills in two hits, so it will probably not make any difference in close-range, whilst having a longer range before it becomes a three hit kill at long range. An infected is still one hit kill at 500m by the way, tested with my bi-pod M4 on the runway at NWAF.

 

 

 

Guys... This is almost a DMR-substitute, now I think of it. Dang, a lot of them anti-KOS/Walking Dead/roleplayers will be not so pleased I think.

It perfectly fits the lore/setting though, so they have no foot to stand on this time.

Yes, right now it would be like a DMR or M14 because it uses the Mosin's 7.62x54R ammunition.

I hope they change the chambering of the SKS so it doesn't use the Mosin's rounds. If/when they add a SVD that will take 7.62x54, but then that would make the SKS kinda obsolete

I love rifles that can be used for everything, practically.

 

If the SKS is a rifle that I can use for both long range and close range, I'll be happy. I love guns that I can easily use for multiple situations. Being able to put a scope on a rifle to provide sniper support for friends and being able to pull off that scope so that I can engage those in close range is like, perfect.

yea 7.62x39 isnt really a long range cartridge 

I know IRL it wouldn't be great at it, but 5.56 still packs a good punch at long range (like I said, I one hit killed a zombie at 500m).

The M4's main issue is that it's inaccurate without bipod, and has no high-powered scope. This gun will resolve this, plus the bullet will most likely have a shorter travel time. I'm in love!

I really wish you could put the SOS on the m4, it already has a railed upper unlike the mosin or the sks which need an adapter. Also the 5.56x45 has a higher velocity than the 7.62x39 that the sks shoots.

yea, i just think if you're gonna get as specific as blood types when doing blood transfusions, you might as well model the guns to chamber the appropriate round and make attachments compatible with the right stuff, like the RIS hand guard and the weapon light

I'm actually really liking this whole attachment system (one of the best parts of ARMA 3 imo).

 

But something that bothers me is that you people seem to be confusing what DMR and M14s are. The M14 IS a DMR depending on how it is used. DMR stands for designated marksman rifle. By that same token, if you put a bipod, proper stock, and proper scope onto an M4 it could be operated in a DMR capacity although rifles built for that purpose would make more sense such as an SR25 or something.

 

Anyway my point is GIVE US MORE MAGPUL STUFF lol. I really want the angled foregrip so I can build up my in game rifle to look like the one I have in real life. Being able to custom build the weapons in game is nice because it gives us one more thing to go and look for. Gawd this game is great.

7.62x39 cartridge not really that ideal for sniping, shooting out of the SKS tho it will have an edge on the M4 with greater accuracy than the AK, more damage too

 

reloading will be somewhat similar to the Mosin (internal magazine) 10rnds, so it wont be that viable for a CQB weapon, probably be a medium range weapon

 

as far as attachments go who knows, maybe 20-30rnd detachable mags, silencer, synthetic stocks? i could only guess at this point

PU-scope, long-range scope, bi-pod, maybe silencer, extended mags, recoil compensator?  Mosin has it.

When i first read about the SKS i thought "Why are they adding something like a DMR again? It is such a lame and unfitting noob weapon". I have to know,which ammo does it use in RL and does it use a magazine?

I sorta welcome this change in ammo. It's unrealistic to have these 3 calibers share the same ammo but at the same time it makes it so there isnt a vast amount of different ammo types.

 

Hopefully it has lower damage properties long with decreased muzzle velocity and greater bullet drop.

Nope, all those properties are in the projectiles and magazines.

 

I don't think they should dumb down ammunition to make it easier to find it. Most people seem to want it to be harder to find. Rocket put blood types in, I would be disappointed if we didn't have ammunition types.

This. SKS using Mosin ammo is probably just a placeholder. Is accuracy a gun property, btw?

Yes, now also modified by attachments.

 

Edit: also, probably... but then again, the boxes only say "7.62mm ammo", not "7.62x54R". DayZ currently doesn't have any "realism" in regards to the guns either, I mean, literally nothing is correct about them. So it is worrying.
