Game as support / medic / hero... It's quite sad

Recommended Posts

I have been playing 5 times in a row now without a weapon ( just medic + support ) in Cherno.

My experience is very bad, I offer food, water etc., talk with them 5-10 minutes and they just punch / hit me down.

The friendly engages are very rare. I usually talk to fresh spawns there because I never find full geared people in Cherno.

You have any tips as hero / medic, any secret place to walk ?

I just don't get these people, why would a group talk with me 5 minutes and just hit me down ? I used to play medic with a gun / weapon and I instantly shot down at anytime.

I am not complaining about KOS but seriously fuck this paranoia. I don't have fun walking around killing people but only meeting 3 / 10 friendly people as unarmed medic because they want your loot is sad.

Remember: I don't whine about people shooting me, it's part of the game. I am just sad the most people working like that.

It's because there is nothing else to do in the game right now once you are geared in my opinion. Once bases come out, people will spend more time defending and attacking them rather than killing friendly people.

I think a good part of this is that it's in everyone's best interest to help to bring everything back in order after a catastrophe. But what if the catastrophe is of such magnitude that there is nothing to "go back to" ? What would then be people's reaction?

Damn LK ...how big of a catastrophe do you need  ;)

Posts like this make me really sad, you and many others are really naive to how this game, or any other game with guns work, this is a game, and many people including me don't have time to talk and pretend this is a real life doing negotiations and and other stupid shit, i get geared and go kill people, roll playing like a little kid plays with action figures wont work in this game unless it is actually implemented through game mechanics.

Edit: Also all the people here talking about human nature and shit, THIS IS A GAME FOR CHRIST SAKE.

Think rocket first described it as an anti-game actually. There are no rules, no real goals, nothing to gain and you can ONLY lose, sooner or later. Any accomplishment one makes is 100% personal since there is no public tracking system and as I posted before, there is no reason to do anything defined by DayZ itself, only what you think is best for the time you spend in there.

But that's not the point.

The point is, there are tons of games handling killing people in much better ways with less clunky engines, better graphics, better gun control and the like. There is also nothing in DayZ that pushes toward one behavior or another. There's not score system, no leader boards and most people will never even know who shot them.

That's the interesting bit in itself, that one spend the time and effort to actually get geared up and kill people in DayZ, for no game benefit whatsoever. And I don't judge, I find it just as interesting when people don't kill everyone on sight and talk. That's why I don't yell at some or others about what they do in DayZ, each of us make their own goal from nothing, and everything has equal value pretty much.

Also, as a note, games have been used as educational purposes and studies in human psychology since...well..for a long time now.

How one plays a game says a LOT about oneself.

Game does push you to kill, in fact it forces you because there is literary nothing else to do at this stage of the release. And that last statement is one of the stupidest things i ever heard, if i run around dayz killing people because there is nothing else to do doesnt mean that i would kill in real life, in fact i feel pretty bad if i even kill an insect. Never confuse game with life.

It's game so of course "killing" is not literal killing, it's just an allegory for what it represents, which can range from personal gratification (challenge to "beat" someone, etc), to pleasure through other's pain/loss, etc. That's what it says: When you're bored in DayZ, YOU choose to kill others, probably for personal pleasure (since it's provoked by boredom apparently). That's your choice, others have other choices. I don't judge, as you said, it's a game, but don't think that it says nothing...it's your choice and that says something.

And there is nothing in Dayz that pushes you to kill anyone or anything. I have 38 hours logged since a week after standalone release, I killed one person so far, by instinct because it was night and we just "appeared" in front of each others, guns raised and we both just reacted, I was faster/luckier. Also died 3 times, all from Mosin shots from nowhere. I don't log or server hop either, usually plays on the same server, day or night, doesn't matter to me. But that's just my choice, no better or worse than yours :)

Well he is probably right, it's the first game I actually don't take as a game. It's very serious business for me but as long as I don't rage when I die everything is good.

DayZ is not just a game for me.

OP ... welcome to a video game, where inadequates have an opportunity to exceed their worldly limitations without consequences.

And will do so, until parentally dismissed from the computer or otherwise jolted back to reality.

What's the matter, is Call of Duty too hard for you?  As for your choices, if the game "forces" you to play a certain way, how are so many people NOT playing the way you do?  Do voices in your head "force" you to do things also?

I think several new factors are at play. Zombies not spawning with player pretense is making it harder to find people, reducing the amount of action people are seeing, pvpers getting boarder faster, etc. Also i think building interiors are making it harder to find people as well. I think KOS is increasing as well because the movement system is so damn clunky and people are unsure that they can defend themselves if they have to so they strike ASAP. Lag and framerate being other factors for that too imo.

An increase in server population will help. So would a bandit armband, so you can get back at them without taking forever to identify an actual murder that wasn't self defense.

Welcome to the truth about human nature.  It probably wouldn't be much different in a real apocalypse (except maybe in places like Japan).

You'll find kind and cooperative players.  Maybe far and few between, but we're out there.

Killing an avatar in a game does not expose THE TRUTH about human nature smart guy. It exposes "some" truths relating to mainly young people and boredom.

Yeah, COD is way too hard for me, that's why the voices in my head told me to buy this game and kill naive vaginas like you that run around like idiots trying to pretend that this game is real life. The simple fact is, no matter how much sand will accumulate in your vagina, nothing going to stop me or anyone else to do whatever they want in the game whether it be shooting or knocking out whoever I see. If you wanna stop people, tell them to raise their hands or drop their weapon while saying "Hey man, you under arrest, just please don't shoot me while i am handcuffing you, just pretend this is real life" go ahead, no one stops you, but stop making these stupid threads complaining about something that is a part of the game and will never be removed.

Hahaha!  Well, now that you've used your big boy words and have intelligently articulated your opinion in an adult manner, I totally agree with you.

If you want to play as friendly/medic, never take chances. Find other like minded players to support you, and have them hide back at a distance unseen from the target incase things go wrong. Never assume people will go along with your playstyle, because there is a majority of players who will either KOS or take advantage of your help then shoot you in the back.

my mission bobble hat was a friendly/medic/hero test and effect of clothes and no weapons on show.

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159711-mission-bobble-hat/#entry1603278

Seem to make a difference to reactions, but i was also putting my self in more danger than is wise.

Added:

To level it out for no aggressive player, there needs to be fast slap cuff (Rare), tasters (Very Rare) and such things
