I think if we all have to share the same face then yes, a beard would be most welcome. But then we'd all have the same beard.

Lets face it...QOL (quality of life) content is literally going to be the very last thing on this dev teams very long list of shit to do. Until Bohemia actually throws more development power behind this project...I'm sorry, 6 guys just can't be assed to bother with things like headmeshes, hair meshes and facial hair meshes or rigging models for customizable facial hair for that matter.

We've got a bargain basement dev team working on a top shelf product...unfortunately BIS kinda sees it the other way around and seems to think Arma 3 is worth more of their resources.

What needs to be done is the 5 guys working on DayZ need to buckle down on the engine issues and just get them fixed. Polish the engine asap. Bohemia then should push as many people are they can to create the content for the game under the direction of Rocket. This should provide the fastest way to a succesful beta and official game launch. Blah blah blah you sound like you haven't worked in game developement before. Makes sense to me. The fact that silly little scripts like "lick battery" and putting resources to create pay day 2 masks right before the alpha with huge glaring issues like the no-clip zombies shows a huge time management issue.

Everyone forgets that as your character gets older your beard is supposed to grow right? I also recall injuries/scaring will be visable as the character gets older. I don't think it was planned to have "add a beard" to the character selection screen.

Should a beard be in the game. Like an in game proof that you have survived for a while. Of course you could shave it off if you didn't want it. However it would be a neat addition, at least leter on down the road. I mean look at this thing! Boom it just screams "come at me bro".xiLzNx2.jpg

Actually, those eyes scream "bro, come with me,winkle face winkle face winkle face"

Now a mans beard, the poll is not should we, it's why haven't we yet :p

Truer words have never been spoken. I love DayZ and I love Bohemias heart and community support. I hate their managment practices and manpower allocation.

DayZ is their money maker. If I was them I'd take people from the ARMA III team, mars whatever team and throw them at the DayZ team so that we actually can have beards! This is coming from an ARMA fan who started on ARMA 2 in 2008 and loved it. Was insanely excited about ARMA IIIs potential and them eventually let down.

I almost didnt buy the DayZ standalone for fear it would become another ARMA III but I dunno, I still have a little faith Rocket and team will come through in the end.

I really would like to see beards and different kinds of facial hair added to character customization.

It doesn't have to be crazy, like a wizard beard, but different facial hair options is pretty much standard character customization these days.

And more customization is better than less, always.

I don't care if they can be molded but yes, give us some facial hair for every day survived, and let us shave it and pretend to be a fresh spawn so people don't get pissed off my beard is more awesome than theirs :D

Absolutely. Be able to cut back to stubble with a knife (or clean shave with a razor for the pretty boys). Beards would be great as a way of suggesting how long a (male) character has been in game (hairy legs and armpits for the girls?)...

Haha, gross. How about pony tail length instead?

Beards should not be chosen at character creation - they should grow relative to the length of in-game life of the survivor (but accelerated somewhat :) ). Would give a useful index of how experienced another player is.

Bandits should grow a pirate beard and get an eyepatch.

What would be better is if they grew on their own, not selectable "Set" beards.

I think that the size of your beard would mean the "level" of your character, because it would be based on the days you have survived. I also liked the scars idea (more days, more scars).

Imagine you looking at a guy with a badass tactical vest, helmet, rocket aviators, cargo pants and a fully customized M4 while his beard almost touches the floor. It would be like "Son, THIS is a true warrior"

Also loved the idea of the pony-tail for the women.

In time good sir, I'm not sure if you remember when the mod was fairly fresh they had some of the same things with appearance, but eventually they will add more customisation, at this stage it's more about getting the game stable enough to start working hard on good updates.

Bandits shouldn't get anything different incase it makes banditry more attractive, such as the bandit skin did for some.

Yeah that was a joke. But agreed.
