EZ mode. Popular with the kids these days...

Recommended Posts

With the current state of the alpher there is nothing to do besides kill other players, maybe further down the line people will stop KoS. Not now.

for you maybe. ive found plenty to do.

When hardcore servers are released it will reduce the amount of EZ mode players on the hardcore servers at least.

No 3rd person to hide behind objects while looking over them.

Hopefully non transferable loot between Hardcore and Ezcore.

Harder fatigue system hopefully,

Then removing the server hopper ability and combat logging.

Lets hope no altering gamma and brightness to cheat night.

all of the above would reduce the amount of Ezmode players because its already too much hard work for them to not KOS.

I really want this mode. Remove 3rd person best idea ever.

I followed a dude in Cherno for 15 minutes today, killing all the zombies following him as silently as I could with my axe, elevating myself with my M4 to watch his back as he looted and kept to his flanks in the open ground to avoid detection while he figured out the best places to hide. All without him knowing I was there.

Felt good to help someone like that.

The only reason I keep playing this game is because of the adrenaline rushes I get from seeing another player.  If it wasn't for those KoS players, this game would be boring.

I've played every "difficulty" you mentioned and I disagree.

(For me) The Survivor mode is the easiest. When playing like this, I avoid the big towns and every other dangerous area.  I stay in the forest when traveling.  And if i hear or see another survivor I lay low or hiding, keeping my gun out incase they get to close.

While for the "EZmode", I go to the most populated areas, military bases and take the road to try to find someone to kill or rob.  This is not simply kos, that gets too boring.  I most of the times, handcuff them, and kill them in some pretty deranged ways ;) or let them go (actual let them go, not shoot them in the back. Which is also lots of fun)

For hero mode.  I have yet to meet on but I have done that often too.

This mode is just like the being a bandit, only i don't kill them and i give them some items. Its the same difficulty as robbing them.

TLDR; if you mindlessly kill everyone you meet in DayZ then you are playing the game on EZ MODE. there are other shooters out there better suited towards this style of play, go play them.

Please tell me about these other shooters where if you fail/die you will have to start from scratch and spend a whole lot of time to get back to where you was? Last CoD I played was the first Modern Warfare and the last Battlefield I played was BF2, and back then getting killed in them just ment that your K/D was slightly smaller which to me didn't really mean that much. And those people that recomend playing Arma III or whatever, I've played Wasteland and found it boring since it took only like 5-10 minutes to find a vehicle, assault rifle and decent optics for it. I found no feeling of actually losing anything when dying in that map and the same goes pretty much to all the milsim maps where you start with weapons.

I get the thrill in this game from the risk of losing your hard earned stuff and so far the only other game where I've had this feeling was EVE online. And before you ask why I won't go back into that game is because I can't be bothered to pay the subscription.

Currently there is no reason not to kill others in this game since there is nothing to gain expect a bullet in your head/back for not doing it.

It goes both ways though. No removing weapons because people get killed by it too much (Military sniper rifles*COUGH* Advanced optics*COUGH*). No safezones, 24/7 daylight or other carebear features. I KOS, and I would love HC mode with no transferable loot, no gamma exploits and whatnot, so saying KOS'ers are ezmode simpletons is completely false. I KOS because I have a clan already, and interacting with strangers brings nothing but risks. Not KOS'ing isn't harder, as anyone could do it (Seriously, if I wanted to, I could go "friendlyyyy!" at every person I see, get shot, and go "Friendlyyyy!" again at the next guy. It's not hard, just annoying and often a waste of time. We also seem to disagree on player interaction being more fun, as I don't think it is. I play this game for the survival aspect. Getting gear, getting gear for my group, keeping us alive, building up a bit of stock, a vehicle, etc.. You carebears should stop preaching roleplaying and your type of gameplay as the ONLY "correct" kind of playing DayZ. Also, I never played COD, and neither is playing DayZ in the manner I do, even close to playing any other generic shooter I have played in the past.

Got news for ya man. I'm a bandit. I've got a group I play with regularly as well. Look at my post history. I don't KoS. I think about the situation and determine if I should shoot someone. I rob people when I/we have the upper hand. I'll shoot without warning if someone is a threat. I'll engage targets of opportunity if I think it is in our best interest and if our mission for the night allows me to.

And you didn't read, or if you did, didn't comprehend what the OP said. The OP isn't trying to force you to change your play style. He just wants you to think about putting yourself in your characters position on occasion. Which believe it or not you are already doing without knowing it.

"I play this game for the survival aspect. Getting gear, getting gear for my group, keeping us alive, building up a bit of stock, a vehicle, etc.."

That right there my friend is a bit of roleplaying. You are playing it as a survival game. Which it is. You are trying to survive in this apocalypse which is what the game is about. You, my friend, are roleplaying. Congratulations. Now, are all roleplayers carebears? Not in the least huh?

Have fun man and luck to you and your clan. Calm down a bit next time when reading and you'll understand thing better. :)

What got to me was the way OP classifies players by their playstyles, basically calling people who shoot on sight retards, and people who play as medics should be praised to heaven and back. Also saying being a medic is harder, which it isn't. There's nothing hard about stocking up meds, going to a guy, trying to help him, and then get shot 60% of the time. Infuriating and patience wrecking? Yes, sure. If what I do is roleplaying, then the RP level of most people I try to counterargue on this is much higher. Unless the other person is 0 threat to us, I'll shoot without a second thought, and he is trying to say it's wrong, and not fun. Well, I've been playing since early june (EDIT: 2012) like this, and it's fun to me alright. And yes, it will snowball like in the mod. But why should I care? I have my group already. I am not selling myself short (his words), I simply don't have a reason not to. Some people like the occasional shootouts, in a survival scenario, and not interacting with randoms.

Oh, and please read this in a debate-y voice, not an angry one. Neither is this a personal comment on anyone.  ^_^

If you are a KoSer, please don't think I am trying tell you how to play, I don't want KoS taken out or discouraged by some contrived or gamey mechanic, I just wish that more people would realise that playing DayZ as if it is just another deathmatch shooter is really selling yourself short and ruining the experience for other's. A certain amount of PvP is needed in this game to keep the world feeling dangerous, but if 7/10 people you meet KoS then most people begin to KoS and the problem snowballs and the overall health of the game/community is weakened.

This sums up the problem we are facing.  If I want to just PVP people, I go play battlefield 4.

I play DayZ for the survival experience.

All is cool man. Seems I misunderstood what ya were trying to say somewhat.

And yea, quite a few of the roleplay diehards go a bit over board with what they classify as roleplay and what is not.

If you don't have a mic it makes it a bit hard to do much. You can only really be a bandit. Though you can choose wether to shoot on site or wait for a better oppurtuinity or even ignore people of they pose no threat.

I'm a bandit hunter that kills noob bandits on te coast. Not all bandits are noobs but the ones on the coast who shoot fresh spawns are the noob bandits. In the mod with side chat it was easy to find out were these bandits were. Now I have to ask new spawns to see if there are any bandits around. This is far more dangerous and a number of things can go wrong.

Avoid balota airfield. Everyone goes there and you probably won't find any good gear as others have taken it all. If you go there all you will see is starter shoes, jeans and shirts. And you are likely to get shot by someone for Lols.

There's a military base north of kamenka which is a half hour walk from balota I you follow the road to kamenka the go north and about 20 minutes or less if you go directly. More chance of finding good loot and less chance of dying. And there's another new military base south east of Vybor which no one goes too. Though some people going to the NW airfield pass it. Its a longer walk but you will get good gear and probably grab yourself a working M4.

Things can go wrong for bandits. Very wrong. The way the gun mechanics work if the KOS but fail they often find themselves under a hail of bullets.

I try diplomacy first bullets later. But some don't have mics. They can't really talk to others. They can't do hold ups. Text chat isn't good for hold ups. So in a confrontation where they hold the advantage but it can soon change they are forced to open fire. They can't warn people. Warning with billets doesn't work if they have a gun.

There is a bit of a flaw in your logic OP.

If we look at the three difficulty groups, you say that KoS is the easiest. Well, lets pretend that KoS is no longer an option, and doesn't exist in the game. It is now impossible to KoS and that group completely disapears. Now the other two groups have nothing to fear from other players, as it is impossible to be killed on sight. Heroes can now help everyone, as they were going to do anyway, and the ordinary players no longer need to feel threatened or unsure about another player, as they cannot be killed on sight.

The game has turned into nothing but a running simulator and occasional zombie shooter. A shit zombie shooter at that, with zombies that can easily be outrun, outsmarted, are very slow, and are piss easy to kill with absolutely anything. You have essentially killed DayZ.

This game is what it is because of KoS.

Never forget that.

As expected, most people don't bother to engage the points I made, instead chose to take it personally (obviously big fans of EZ mode) and make lazy one-line replies.

KoS is not a problem, the rate of KoS can become a problem when KoS becomes the only viable play-style

Your points have been said 0438994384 Times.... do a search function next time. There are SO many threads like yours... I don't even want to start on those said points... done it way too many times.

I should have expressed my view in a gentler manner. But I feel like I'm fighting the tide on this subject.

But yeah, we're cool. <3

I figured this information was all obvious.

It's funny that people are calling this guy a troll, and telling him to f*ck off, but its pretty much common sense that I thought the entire community already grasped.

KoS'ing is easy.

And being a good guy is really hard.

That is common sense.

Why do I not shoot on sight? Because there's no risk involved.

I play this game for the risk factor, the thing that gets my heart pumping. You place your trust in a complete stranger not to kill you because that is what trust is, the inability to know what the other intends. It's paid off for me and I now have a solid system for confrontation and I've not been shot yet because of it (8 day old Character and counting). KoS is the easiest and safest way to play the game, sure, but I don't want simple and safe.
