Two kind of servers: PvP and PvE

THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION OR RANDOM IDEA. NO NEED TO BARK OUT "GO AND PLAY SOMETHING ELSE".

 

What about two kinds of servers? One is PvP (as it currently is), one is PvE. You are allowed to have one character for each server type and they can't be transferred or interact with each other.

 

On PvE players can not inflict damage to other players (guns and explosives) and the zombies are a real danger to a single person (faster, inflicting more damage, harder to 'kill'). Maybe players can also form groups (as is usual MMO's) and the group members' names are displayed above their heads.

they already had this in the mod, there were very few PvE servers and people just came to ruin them by joining and killing as many people as possible before being banned. i don't think it would work really.

please stop this server splitting, all these day / night server and 1st/3rd view splitting kinda destroy the game

No PvE, DayZ shouldn't be available in a watered down version.

What the dream version of dayZ that most legit players want is a blend of this. A combination of not everyone killing on site but also not everyone being friendly, if rocket can figure out a way to blend the two he"ll have the best game ever made.

Yes. I would love this.

There is currently a "PVE" server, but as it is not possible to disable PVP, random jerks will sneak up behind you and knock you out to take your stuff.

this server is pretty much always full, too.

PvE would not function if the ability to kill other players would not be totally disabled (on PvE servers only).

 

In my opinion it's worth an attempt (yes, other things are more important right now to fix/implement/improve). Many people like PvE (with players being unable to kill other players and NPCs being a real thread).

 

On a PvE server there might be restricted areas where PvP is possible (not being able to kill somebody out of the zone from within the zone and other way round). Maybe one of the big DayZ-specific cities with very precious and rare items to spawn only there.

 

I've played EverQuest 2 for six years in a hardcore raid guild. Personally I like PvE more (with controlled PvP). Once more: I don't dislike DayZ for the lack of PvE-only-options. And I don't want to quit because of this. Just playing around with a few ideas.
