applejaxc 2500 Posted December 24, 2013 Hear me out: In the main menu, I would like to see a list of players that I have killed (completely, absolutely, 100% dead, not players that I've wounded).I do not want a list of players who have killed me; when I respawn, I'm a 100% new person, not out for revenge. There would be no benefits to a large kill list whatsoever, nor a penalty. There would not be any kind of message in-game telling me whether I have killed someone or not; that hurts realism considerably. (Along with this, a stat tracker for how many transfusions I've given, players I've bandaged, etc)

I mean if you put a bullet (axe, crowbar, arrow, etc) in their head you probably know what they look like. I like the idea of a stat tracker as long as it's something we use for personal use only. +1 from me
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted December 24, 2013 I think this might encourage players to murder though, to increase their "stats"
kichilron 8550 Posted December 24, 2013 There would not be any kind of message in-game telling me whether I have killed someone or not; that hurts realism considerably. It's fairly easy - there's a pan ingame. And paper. Write notes and keep them in your inventory. That's how it would be and if you want it you can write it down. I can't see a reason why there should be a count implemented and especially not displaying the names of people you have shot. How would you know someone's name? And if you do - write it down on your murderlist you're carrying with you, so others can see what beast you are. :)
green_machine 179 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) I think this might encourage players to murder though, to increase their "stats" Then they'll want to know many times they died so they'll have a K/D ratio. Edited December 24, 2013 by DaveZ

So the onIy stats shouId be survived time...That would be playtime, what you find in STEAM. I think, the longest amount of time spent alive, would be best. Something that forces you to compete against your own abilities and not other people. .
FSF Lino 10 Posted December 25, 2013 Don't like this idea at all because of all before... Prefer to have the time i was alive. It's a survival at the beginning, not a shooter.
Gnawbite 0 Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) I understand the people above me very well, having a stat like "murders" being tracked will probably encourage people to kill on sight. Still I would like the game to track my stats very much. For me stats are a form of achievement, I want to be able to login at any time and see how I did in my previous runs. Just "surviving" is way too boring for me, eventhough I understand that is the concept of this game. Stats should be visible in the main menu, where you select your character. Stats should be:Total time survivedLongest time aliveMurdersBandit killsZombie killsDeathsHumanity(Possible advanced stats like headshots, accuracy, most used weapon, etc)Just like in the mod, humanity should be tracked and there should be titles given accordingly. Preferable more titles available than Survivor and Bandit. A title should be a goal for players, it should take a long time before the highest title (for both 'good' and 'evil') can be achieved. This is all personal of course, I just like to have a goal when I play a game. A goal that is being tracked where you'll eventually be rewarded for. (for example the bandit/hero skins you could 'unlock' in the mod). Writing stats down on a piece of paper just doesn't satisfy me enough. I'm guessing this system is starting to sound a lot like Infestation: Survivor Stories, but the feel and gameplay of DayZ is just so much better than I:SS. edit: only noticed just now this thread is from December 2013 :( Edited July 10, 2014 by Gnawbite
ljlee256 0 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) I dislike the idea of a kill counter of any kind, its against the spirit of the game and it will only serve to increase the COD type game play that's already detracting from the underlying concept of the game which should be just to survive. If your kill counter got reset every time you died it MAY serve to further the ideal of "survive first".Ultimately it needs to be harder for experienced and well geared players to survive, I've been running around with a fully decked AKM for a while now, zombies are absolutely no issue. I've even taken to hunting players that camp the spawns looking for more of a challenge, I fear those players have gotten lazy from taking so many easy kills that they themselves are ridiculously easy to kill. The hero bandit system has been previously discussed and the issue there seems to be a consensus on is what makes you a hero or a bandit, running into a town and killing 5 guys who are harassing a new player SOUNDS like a hero tactic, but how is the game going to tell that that is what you've done, the game will count this as "you've just killed 5 people, YOUR A BANDIT!" Hell I killed a guy yesterday for threatening to slit my throat (using a hand gesture) but it was a pretty cold appearing kill, especially since his gear was obviously new, this would also brand me as a bandit. There needs to be no system that is unrealistic, we don't walk around with permanent markings on us denoting whether we are heros or villains, they shouldn't exist in game.Anonymity (no dinstinctive and unremovable markings, clothing or tattoos), lack of control over your environment (no where is truly safe), no digital metering system (you don't know your stats, your word is all you've got), these all serve to make this game the most realistic zombie survival game, I sincerely hope they don't corrupt that idea by adding anything that goes against that, it makes everyone an equal in a face to face confrontation, perhaps the guy with better gear will win, but ultimately we know it's the guy who pulls the trigger first, not the guy with the highest body count, the guy with a reputation to protect, or the guy who found the super awesome special armor. benedictus 160 Posted August 28, 2014 I think this might encourage players to murder though, to increase their "stats" No if you keep the stats private, very little ego boosting in that.
rn_max 202 Posted September 4, 2014 It's fairly easy - there's a pan ingame. And paper. <snip> With those available, you can take a dump on the idea and wipe afterwards to avoid infection  :emptycan: Seriously though, out of sight, out of mind ... which is exactly where kill stats belong.
