btw001 19 Posted December 24, 2013 Hello, this post is aimed towards the developers of DayZ. I have recently bought the standalone DayZ game just to find out my computer can barely run it. Even on the lowest settings I'm getting very low frames per second. Due to this I would like to ask for a refund. I understand it is my fault that my computer sucks and that I probably won't get a refund, but I would really appreciate it. It is a possibility I'm getting low framerate due to the game being an alpha. If so I would like a confirmation. Thanks.

kylebeed (DayZ) 12 Posted December 24, 2013 You should have read the minimal running specifications, why would they refund you for something that could have been avoided if you had read something. also it is stated on the page of purchasing http://dayzgame.com/buy#.UrnvWPRdWyU at the bottom. In my case at least the standalone is giving me more fps. So I would just buy a new PC if you cant run it :P its worth it.
shenanigansmc 19 Posted December 24, 2013 If your pc does not meet the minimum requirements, then there is a extremely low chance you would get a refund. What are your specs?

shenanigansmc 19 Posted December 25, 2013 Just about make it. Either contact the devs (email?) or wait a bit until the game is more optimized or turn down your graphics settings in game or using a guide (cant find the link, but it involves turning down some numbers in documents/dayz/dayz.cfg (open with a text editor like notepad to edit)

You havent even got a card, a hd 4000 isnt a gfx card just internal!Sometimes I wish we could do what Canadians do to baby seals to keep pc gaming free from this peasantry! RaxUK 61 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) I'm running this at ~30 (i will get exact in a minute) on my laptop atm so I don't see why yours is doing any worse. EDIT: should have mentioned I'm running it on an Intel HD Graphics 4600 with a 2.5GHz I5 processor Edited December 25, 2013 by RaxUK
SmashT 10907 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Contact Steam Support. https://support.steampowered.com/Steam refunds aren't that common, however they are handled on a case by case basis so contact their Support anyway and they may or may not do a once off store credit as a gesture of goodwill. Crit 46 Posted December 25, 2013 Where on this page does it mention your chip?http://support.dayzmod.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=15Edit: Interesting, just checked on steam and you are correct who would have thought? Changing my tune on this one! Gi for it and request a refund but also point out the information is wrong! There is no mention of your chip on the dayz support site!Merry christmas
Diggydug (DayZ) 331 Posted December 25, 2013 Did you buy it through Steam or Bohemia? If I were in this situation of getting a refund, I'd contact whoever was responsible for the source of my purchase, but I wouldn't expect a refund. You should always be aware of what your hardware is capable of before a purchase. For the future, meeting the minimum requirements often means nothing. You may run it, but it could just as well be choppy and as a result unplayable.______ Realistically, I wouldn't expect a refund. If you don't get one, later on when you can run it it will be further developed and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Chips- 58 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) You do realize minimum requirements are just that? The bare minimum for the game to run. Not a stable 30fps, not 20, 10 if lucky. You are stressing the CPU to it's limit. Laptops like yours are not designed to run games well. Edited December 25, 2013 by Chips-
BlksnshN 127 Posted December 25, 2013 I'm well over the recommended specs and still have trouble running this game. I can't even imagine trying to run it on integrated graphics.

btw001 19 Posted December 25, 2013 Are you seriously comparing this with this I don't mean to sound like an asshole but come on, you should know better.DayZ looks like shit with lowest settings. Minecraft can look pretty nice on max settings also. So I can run DayZ at lowest settings getting 10 fps while 150 fps on Minecraft with highest settings. JESUSARIUS REX (DayZ) 163 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) It's odd because it can run Minecraft at max settings with 150+ fps.Minecraft is a java based game with low res textures and no polygons what so ever. The only thing you need to run it is 6gb of ram... Edit: DayZ looks like shit with lowest settings. Minecraft can look pretty nice on max settings also. So I can run DayZ at lowest settings getting 10 fps while 150 fps on Minecraft with highest settings. It still looks better than minecraft. I have a 550 ti, an $80 usd card, and i can run on mid settings fine... Your logic makes no sense. And minecraft on high simply adds slightly better lighting, which is nothing compared to dayz's lighting, Edited December 25, 2013 by JESUSARIUS REX

btw001 19 Posted December 25, 2013 Whatever, either way. I'm going to just get a refund through paypal. I can barely run the game and I can't get a new computer and I can't just upgrade my graphics card because I have a laptop.
Diggydug (DayZ) 331 Posted December 25, 2013 I'm no expert, but Steam may be unhappy with that. I've heard tales of people forcing a refund and Steam reacting quite harshly.
