Standalone any better off in terms of ******

Recommended Posts

Hey I am going to be buying standalone this Christmas but just to be sure if its worth it can anyone answer the following questions that concern me?

1.  Are the hackers gone or at least very much reduced?  I would hate to buy standalone and then find a bunch of script kiddies running around...  Whats is the situation with hacks?  Same?  Better?  Worst?  If only half of the hackers are gone I will be satisfied.

2. Glitches.  Its alpha I know there are going to be a LOT LOT LOT of glitches.  But is at least a little better then standalone?  Or the same?  Or is it worst.  (this question is of the least concern.  I am buying fully expecting a bug ridden mess.  But to me that is part of the fun.  Still knowing the overall stability to the standalone will help.)

3.  Community.  Is it still KOS 24/7 or has it gotten better?  Is cherno and elektro still crawling with snipers?  Do people still whine and scream into side chat as much (if there is a side chat).

4.  What are the MAJOR changes?  Going into standalone what should I expect to see that is different?

If you answer these questions THANK YOU very much.  I know no one forced you to do it and I apprentice the fact that you took time to help a fellow dayz mod player.  Merry Christmas. (Christmas themed colors in font!)

Oh and if you don't celebrate Christmas...too bad I do.

1. I'd say so but I'm generally away from the local populace.

2. It's not that bad, actually. I've had my legs randomly broken once. Once. Other than that a few minor things here and there but nothing that impedes gameplay much for me.

3. Community isn't any better. Many people aren't used to it and try to be friendly to avoid confrontations currently but as people get familiar with it all they're resorting to the usual KoS behavior in the big cities on the coast and military areas.

4. Lighting, hunger and thirst, clothing, zombies, buildings, the HUD. There's a lot of changes and you've already said you'll be getting it so you'll see.

My only experience killing a player was an asian woman who rushed me with a fire extinguisher, and she went down rather easily, so I've yet to encounter a hacker.

1. I have played 50 hours, yet haven't seen any hacking.

2. Sure zombies still can walk trough some doors but that doesn't bother me

3. I'd say less KoS. Ofcourse in airfield you will get killed if someone sees you.. Haven't seen any snipers camping electro or cherno. Side chat is disabled.

4. Better inventory system, lot of little things like ton of new clothnig, attachments and new places in map.

1. Hackers are a problem, but not as big as on the mod. I think that's due to the sheer player base. New antihack is coming soon.

2. It's actually not all that glitchy. The inventory system is great and a huge improvement. The problem is half baked solutions and missing components, like respawning loot and zombies.

3. If you got a gun, people will shoot you. If you've got nothing/hatchet, I've only been taken hostage.

4. Less functions and content than the mod. More frustration, an entirely new health system.

1. nope they are still here, and VAC is enabled according to the Steam Store Page, and the Hack sites and streams show the hacks are not having issues.

2. not as many glitches as the mod, but a vast majority of features of the mod are not in standalone

3. community blows, KOS is the norm, Server hoppers are the norm, because items don't re-spawn until server restart, anything weapon wise is a good chance of being gone.

its still ARMA 2, because ARMA2 is currently $12 on steam, better off just getting and playing the MOD on the private hives.

1-I think the hacker situation is better, I haven't come across any on about 20 hours of gameplay so far but I've read a few posts about it so your mileage may vary. At least it's not like when I stopped playing the mod where there were full on server wipes and boats on top of buildings.

2-I think it's surprisingly stable, there's plenty of glitches related to Arma's absolutely terrible collision detection, so your legs might break randomly or you might fall of a roof and die like a mate of mine, but other than that it's good.

3-Kill on sight, it's insane, play with friends or prepare to die.

4-Errr, you can get into houses, there's a ton of new loot, the new character models and weapons look awesome. Not much else has been implemented, but there's a lot of promising stuff in there.

Wait. It's hardly a game yet, so unless you really want to help with development, don't buy it.

DayZ standalone is worth a lot more than it costs, it is awesome. Yes there are some bugs but they will get fixed with time. I defiantly suggest getting it

1. I've logged 30 hours so far. I have not seen 1 script kiddie.

2. Doesn't make sense. this is the Alpha for the standalone! There are bugs, glitches, but isn't that what DayZ is all about?

3. Snipers in cherno. Not really, they get counter sniped because of the new areas =)

4. Much better inventory. Chernarus Plus is very impressive in terms of what being changed =)
