  1. Playing in first person only servers is definitely worth it once you get used to it, it's more immersive and while you do lose an advantage so does everybody else, so you end up feeling a little bit safer after a while. My only concern here is figuring out if Hardcore servers have other effects like changing the balance and so on, if possible I would like to play in servers that are FPV only but remain with the default balance.
  2. As the titles states, what's difference between one and the other?

    No entry documents/dayz/dayz.cfg.3d_performance

    That worked, thanks a bunch!

Thanks, but I've tried that already and no new files were recovered.
  5. I get this error every time I launch the game, it doesn't seems to be causing me any trouble but I would like to know how to get rid of it. I've searched the forums but I haven't found any threads about this. EDIT: Possible useful information, Im on the latest Nvidia drivers (332.21) but I never install the 3D view drivers since I have no interest in getting 3D glasses and I've heard these drivers tend to affect performance, could this be the issue?

    Next updates.

I would like the next few updates to focus on zombies. I want zombies to respawn, I want to see them in increased numbers, I want to see them not going through walls and I want to see them roaming areas outside of cities. Once we get all that (which Im guessing will take a few months) the game will hopefully change quite a bit making stealth and survival more important elements in the game rather than just killing people and hoarding military weapons.
  7. Wow mister leet man, that was really helpful advice! Thankfully we have a master hackor like you to provide us with useful advice!

    Eating sure takes a while.

Im sure by now we've all seen the hunger/thirst video and started eating/drinking anything on sight as soon as we come across it. Problem is, it takes too damn long to eat anything, filling up my stomach can take up to twenty minutes of me sitting watching the same animation over and over while Im exposed and by the time Im full I feel as if I've eating half the food in Chernarus. I think there's probably a few ways to make this better: 1-Give me an option to eat an entire can of beans/tuna/whatever instead of 25% portions, Im ok with the animation taking a little longer. 2-Either reduce the stomach's size slightly, or increase the amount food fills you up, if I eat a whole can of beans Im going to be pretty full, yet in DayZ I can eat 4 full cans in a row and Im still not even close to being full, did my character used to be morbidly obese or something? To counter this perhaps the availability of food could be reduced, so food fills you up faster but there's less of it. Finally, Im sure this has been reported but here goes anyways because why not: Eating something from the inventory menu doesn't always work, sometimes my character will unequip his weapon and then just stand there with his fists up, doing nothing. In these cases I have to spam the Eat command until it finally works. It's a bit clunky, and always makes me feel uneasy because equipping a weapon and actually getting the character to hold it in his hands is quite an adventure. In before "alpher", I kno guise, it's coolio.
  9. Sup gang, hope you are having a good new year. I realize that some of the questions Im going to ask will have answers that are subject to change and/or are a byproduct of unfinished features, but Im struggling to see the differences between ruined and pristine equipment. Logically I try to grab anything that's in good condition, but I've eaten plenty of "badly damaged" food which as far as I can tell has given me the same nutrition as food in a "pristine" condition to make me wonder how this system really works. So far the only item that seems to change gameplay-wise is the rifle scope, which will be next to useless when damaged. So here goes: 1-Is a "badly damaged fresh banana" the same as a "pristine rotten banana"? I going out on a limb and guess that the former is fine for consumption but will provide less nutrition than one that's pristine and that the latter will still get me sick regardless of its condition, but I would like some confirmation. 2-What's the difference between a badly damaged shirt and one in pristine condition? Does one provide more protection against cold/damage than the other one? Im guessing the answer is yes but is that system actually functional in the game? 3-Same question, but applied to backpacks, they seem to be able to carry the same amount of loot so I guess what changes here is how rapidly will the stuff in it decay, is this correct? 4-And what about weapons? Does a badly damaged stock on my M4 affects accuracy? 5-Finally, what about medical equipment? If I use something that's damaged will it decrease its effectiveness or will it have some alternate effect like increasing the chances of getting an infection after use?

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

Im sure it'll be added eventually, they've just added the option for FPV only servers which Im guessing is a rather experimental thing. For the time being the easiest way to find FPV only servers is to search for the word "off" in the server browser.

Should I invest my time in 1st Person Servers?

I typically switch to third person view in open areas and then back to first in towns to help aiming better, but today I tried the FPV servers for a while. It's a bit hard to get used after playing both the SA and the mos using TPV so long, but once you do get used to it you can see the advantages. It's harder for me to see other players, yes, but it's also harder for them to see me. Somehow this makes me feel safer, it's also nice to know that in the chance of an encounter we'll both have equal opportunities. If you are on the fence about FPV servers give it a go, I think Im going to try to stick with them for now, it feels "right". Protip: disable the headbob from the Gameplay menu, it'll drastically improve your FPV experience. Also, try messing around with the FOV, a high value will allow you to see more but will also distort the image in close quarters, which might make dizzy in some cases, a low FOV will make you see less, but objects will have a more realistic looking scale and you'll be able to judge distances better, funny thing I've learned playing racing simulators :D

Are those the same guys messing up the Rust servers? Because if so they are seriously rustling my jimmies.

    Suggestion: Left Hand Option (W/Pictures)

Don't think it would be, mirroring animations is extremely easy and Im almost certain that the ArmA engine already supports it. The only problem would be adding a new option on the UI. As long as this doesnt involve adding new content (ie. weapons with the ejection port on the other side) it should be fairly straight forward.
  15. What are your graphics settings? I dont get this issue so it would be helpful to compare. I have: Objects: Normal Terrain: Very High Clouds: Very High Shadows: Very High Textures and filtering on High. AA is set to normal. Alpha to coverage: All Vsync: Off HDR: Normal Ambient Occlusion: OFF Post Effects: Off Motion Blur: Off
