All opinions about side chat are of course valid. That's why we need to have it optional for the servers to enable it or not.

A realism mod needs to make it as real as possible' date=' and you can't magically chat with people 20km away in a zombie apocalypse.

If at all, make it so you need radios with batteries, which both spawn extremly rare. I think we will see something like this later on.

But for now its side chat off, if you want to chat go on steam or xfire to chat ingame or just hook up on ts, no need for 40+ people to read all that.

Yeah, realism, because batteries are so hard to find. Besides, cellphone network and the internet should still be up and running as these zombies are "infected. Not to mention CB radio.

But don't get me wrong, I think it's good that the side chat is turend off.

There's no power. Cellphone towers need power. So do computers.

Then what about a sattelite phone that uses 9v batteries? Surley this virus spread didn't knock the sattelites out of the sky. But to be fair, it somehow killed automatic power plants so that might also be the case. Yes they run automaticly 24/7, the people who work there are just monitoring it for the most part. And it would continue to run during a virus outbreak, unless someone turned it off, which might have been the case.

Well, I guess the realism with running forever and getting punched trough walls is so flawless that we cannot get a few walkie talkies.

I must say that DayZ as a good game is almost dead. The servers all around the world is flooded with cheaters of all kinds, they have infinite equipment, they see every player on the map, they can spawn at any location, they boost their health so you can't kill them, they bombard towns with atillery and spawn and ride the TANKS. There is tons of instructions on how to cheat in DayZ on youtube . I think Rocket is already know about stuation, and maybe a little overhelmed with it =) I'm a game developer myself and i want to say to DayZ developers - FORGET THE NEW FEATURES - DEAL WITH CHEATERS !

I must say that DayZ as a good game is almost dead. Really? Becuase I have NEVER seen one cheater out of all the time I've played Dayz, I have never once seen a hint of someone cheating.

Don't really care about the update delay, just hoping the man is ok.

Really? Becuase I have NEVER seen one cheater out of all the time I've played Dayz, I have never once seen a hint of someone cheating.

You both are idiots.

First this game being easily hackable is ARMA's fault, the engine runs scripts client side so anyone and fuck with them any time they want, there is nothing a mod dev can do. The only thing they can do is fix a few exploits in there own scripts. Like being able to repeatedly eat food that was fixed. In reality though it doesn't matter to a hacker.

A hacker can spawn weapons give them selves ammo, health, drop bombs and none of this stuff is fixable by a mod developer.

And to the guy who says because I have never seen one they don't exist your an idiot. You have NO idea how lucky you are to have not seen one. They are everywhere they flatten entire towns with spawned bombs they kill people by hitting them with a physics push as if god had reached down and bitch slapped you with the invisible force of a supreme being. They also run around with full equipment camo/as50/or silenced sniper/best of everything and they suck at the game so you shoot them, 10 seconds later here comes the idiot again running around with the same bad ass equipment and DID NOT loot his own corpse. Just a few examples of shit I HAVE SEEN in the last couple of weeks.

Target date is Monday. Backup is for Saturday during offpeak time.

The update will include some new functionality. Currently' date=' it includes some leftover fixes from the end of 1.7.1

But I will be updating the progress here. 1.7.1.5 will remain all weekend, unless something serious happens.
